12 Testers Needed Tester Hokus

Honest post.

I run a closed test for HOKUS, an Android app with sixteen self-working magic tricks you perform with your phone. On paper I had enough testers — 27 people joined. Almost none of them ever opened the app after installing.

Google reviewed my production application and declined it. Their words: "Testers were not engaged with your app during your closed test." Not a policy problem, not a quality problem, nothing wrong with the app itself. Nobody used it. I now have to run another 14 days of closed testing before I'm allowed to apply again.

So I'm not looking for sign-ups or numbers. I'm looking for people who open the app once and tell me one honest sentence.

Everything is unlocked and free during the beta

All sixteen tricks are free for testers. Play handles it as a test purchase — no card, nothing charged, no trial that expires. You get the complete app, not a demo with locked screens. This works automatically for everyone in the tester group; you don't have to ask me for anything.

Two steps, in this order — the second only works after the first

Join the tester group:

https://groups.google.com/g/zaubertricks-tester

Then open the opt-in link:

https://play.google.com/apps/testing/de.nexihl.zauberkasten

The app then appears in the Play Store as a normal install. If it doesn't show up immediately, wait a few minutes — Google needs a moment to register you.

What you'd be trying

Sixteen tricks that work without sleight of hand. A freely chosen card appears on your screen. A note written "yesterday" names what someone decides today. A printed slip lying on the table is scanned by your spectator's own phone — a device you never touched — and shows their card. Every trick comes with instructions in the app: what to say, what to do, how long it runs, how much practice it needs.

One honest limitation, better said here than discovered after installing: the trick instructions are German only right now. The interface itself is German and English.

What I'd like back

Open it, run one trick, then reply here or in the group with a single line. What felt good, what confused you, what looked broken. "Worked fine" is a real answer and still helps.

I test back. Reply or DM with your app and I'll join your closed test and do exactly what I'm asking for — a real install and real feedback, not a silent number in your dashboard.

Thanks for reading this far.

Da stimmt was nicht. Ist in der Console die Gruppe erst nach dem Hochladen der aab ausgewählt wurden? Dann hakt Google schonmal und die Mails müssen von Hand rein

Hello! I will download HOKUS as soon as Google Play lets me, and I will definitely test it!

It would mean a lot to me if you could share your thoughts on my friend's free music player app:

  1. Join the tester group: https://groups.google.com/g/tony-moth-music-player-testers
  2. Opt in to the closed test: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.tonymoth.musicplayer
  3. Install the app from Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tonymoth.musicplayer

Hello!

First of all, thank you for downloading and testing our app! I really appreciate it!

Of course, I downloaded yours to test it, and I wanted to share some feedback with you. My German is still a work in progress, so I couldn't understand the text perfectly just yet, but I did notice a small UI issue regarding the layout.

The bubbles/buttons at the bottom of the screen seem to be positioned a bit too low. They are sitting almost right on top of the phone's system navigation bar, which makes them a little tricky to tap.

Thank you again for your help!
