I can reproduce the problem by scrolling once, tapping one menu. For example, scrolling down, then tapping speed dial triggers it, while in park.

I unplug the phone and use it in my hand whenever I get a safety pause. Yes, it is opposite of what they're intending but my surroundings will change before the timeout is over.

Android Auto is such a pain in the ass in so many ways that I'm sure it causes accidents.

I was distracted less back when I'd just put my phone on a mount and use it like normal.

This is EXACTLY what I have to do. The safety pause is stupid and just manufacturers bad habits.

Happens to me a lot in Spotify because the AA version is so stripped down and minimal it's almost useless unless I use my phone. I don't know who thinks its a good idea.

Is the handbrake on? That's how AA decides if you're in motion or not. Some models of car just don't have the ability to tell your stereo you're in park so you're just stuck with it

I'm pretty sure in my car that's decided by the gearbox being in park (it's an automatic). If I have it in drive + handbrake, it takes it as if I'm driving. In the manual it probably uses just the handbrake I assume

We have (had) 2 cars. Ford fusion and Ioniq5. On the fusion just being at a stand still with your foot on the brake is enough to let you type and use the touch, the 5 needs to be stopped and in park.

This behavior is the same across several pixels going back to the 7pro.

+1 with my '23 Subaru Solterra... as long as I'm stopped no matter what gear I'm in, I can swipe, tap, and type to my heart's content

What's really stupid about this is that it doesn't stop you from using your phone to find something and put it on the big screen. That is actually more dangerous than using the screen not to mention laws about hands free devices in lots of places now.

This is a common Subaru issue. It doesn't apply to you because your Solterra is really a Toyota for all intents and purposes. Your infotainment will be a re-skinned version of Toyota's

Yep, it absolutely is. Any time I need to contact support for my infotainment, it's always someone from Toyota that I need to contact

No, but from what I understand, it should only trigger with extended use, such as repeated successive tapping. Two motions (a scroll and one tap) triggered it today. Yesterday it did not. I pick different playlists almost daily to keep it fresh. This feels more like a bug than the intended feature.

Yesterday driving to the gym I was able to change my playlist to my workout playlist while in motion, today I couldn't in park.

This screen will show after you touch the screen 5 times. This includes tapping and scrolling

While it makes sense, it's a bit silly that it does not detect auto hold stops on a parking lot...

Your headunit tells Android Auto if the car is stopped or not. Most headunits determine this by checking if the handbrake is set or not.

If you want to avoid this just use your handbrake or learn how to bypass the handbrake check in your car.

e. g. In my car theres a wire in the handbrake that can be grounded to achieve this. Third party dongles are another alternnative

The behavior didn't exist while driving yesterday, and exists now while parked.

The limitation when in non-parked mode (no handbrake) is 6 taps or 2-3 long scrolls. It's been there for almost 10 years.

Check if your car got some headunit firmware upgrade, this could have changed the behavior.

And consider using your handbrake to avoid all this drama.

The last update for my car was nearly 2 months ago, and the behavior isn't present when driving. 2 taps initiates the message when parked. I just drove around the block TRYING to get it to trigger and couldn't.

That is annoying especially as my car has an attention sensor. Look away from the road and it warns you. You could have a front passenger who is sorting out the playlist.

AA seems to know when my truck is or isn't in gear. And if it's moving or not. If I'm stopped I can manipulate the screen all I want. If I'm moving then I'll get that little message. In the 6 years I have owned my truck I have only gotten that message once and that was about 2 years ago.

Odd, I have the same/similar car (8.5" Non-Nav) but I'm using AA Wireless 2 dongle only run into this while the car is moving. The AA Wireless dongle does have a developer option to disable that warning but I haven't needed to enabled it yet.

Is it just your phone? Or do you have another one you can test. 

Also the handbrake/park thing isn't a thing for Subaru's (at least the ones I've used of this vintage), all AA functions work while the car is stopped (doesn't matter if car is in park or handbrake is on, just that the car speed is 0).

My wife's phone is paired to my car, but I won't get to test with her phone until tomorrow at the earliest. It's the strangest thing. I've force stopped AA, rebooted my phone, double checked for updates, and still had the problem when I came home from work. In the parking lot, in park, two touches triggered it, but driving home I tried my hardest to trigger it and couldn't. Tried scrolling, repeated tapping, changed songs, playlists, then sat there and alternated index/middle finger tapping as fast as I could at a stoplight, no pause. Put it in park when got home, two touches and it happened.

FYI: You can avoid that message by just holding a scroll arrow. It only comes when you tap a few times quickly.

That does not seem to be the case. I just tried again using the arrow, and a single press and hold of the scroll arrow, then tapping a folder produced the same result.

I cleaned my screen with a microfiber cloth to see if it was possibly residue or something, tried selecting a different folder and got the same result.

2 touches triggers it regardless of what path I take.

I just tried tapping my Super Mix, hitting play, immediately triggered it.

If I hit Speed Dial > select a song, it triggers it.
