Title: 2 weeks into a new job and still no job offer/contract — should I be concerned?

Hi! I recently started working at a company and I’m currently on a 3-week training/evaluation period. I’m already on my 2nd week, but I still haven’t received a job offer/offer letter or any formal documentation of the employment arrangement.

This is a fairly new branch/company (around 1 year operating), and I’m starting to have more concerns as I get to observe how things work.

The starting compensation was verbally discussed, and they’ve been paying me on time, but other details like payment terms, benefits, schedule, policies, commission, and what the offer would be if I become full-time weren’t really explained before I started training.

There’s also no formal HR department. From what I can see, some HR-related matters are being handled by the Office Manager and Marketing Assistant, on top of their other responsibilities.

I’m also supposed to undergo a medical, but I’m considering holding off until the employment terms are properly clarified and documented.

The actual job and the team are okay so far, and I actually like some aspects of the environment. I’m still hoping things work out because I’d prefer to stay somewhere long-term if the management and structure improve. But honestly, after observing for almost 2 weeks, I’m still hesitant because a lot of things feel messy and unstructured.

I’m giving them until next week / the end of my 3-week evaluation to clarify things and see how the evaluation goes. After that, I’ll decide whether to continue or leave.

Technically, I haven’t signed anything yet, so I could just walk away, but I don’t want to make a decision too quickly either. I’d rather give them a fair chance to clarify the arrangement and address my concerns.

For those with experience working in the Philippines: Is it normal to go through 2–3 weeks of training/evaluation without receiving an offer letter or contract? What should I make sure to ask HR/management before deciding whether to continue?

I’m also curious if anyone has experienced a similar setup where there’s no actual HR department and the Office/Marketing staff are handling HR functions. How did it turn out?

SERIOUSLY NEED ADVICE ON THIS. I feel like i do not wish to proceed after 3 weeks. I thank the kind staff but there's an obvious lack of incomplete structure, staff blaming, orientation/straight to training.

I will eventually discuss all of this to my superior but this is the first time in my career i encountered this - if everything gets eventually settled i wish to stick around but if it continues to be like this i may have to look somewhere else even if its 20 min walk from our home. I have no clue about company policies, procedures, benefits etc i guess its mandated. I just go to work and my first salary was paid on time. I do not know how to explain this to my parents after 3 weeks. After 3 weeks if this is still not settled i'll have to discuss with them that I won't be pursuing work unless they fix this first and i review it.

My girlfriend was emailed that her training was starting, so she traveled around 8 hours just to get to the company. When she arrived, she was sent to the nurse's office for a medical check before starting training.

She had some findings that initially raised concern about TB, but after further testing, TB was ruled out. Her GeneXpert, sputum/AFB, and other follow-up results were negative. Her own doctor also examined her and gave her a Fit-to-Work certificate.

She's still taking TB medication because her doctor advised her to finish the prescribed treatment and not stop it abruptly, despite TB ultimately being ruled out.

The nurse initially said it was unlikely she'd be allowed to work because she was still taking TB medication. The nurse then consulted the company physician, who ultimately decided to decline her.

We're confused because she was never diagnosed with TB, her tests were negative, and her own doctor cleared her as Fit to Work.

Can someone be considered unfit to work simply because they're taking TB medication, even when TB has been ruled out and their doctor has cleared them as Fit to Work?

Hi I just want to ask kung legal ba for an employer to exclude yung weekends and holidays for the 30-day counting to release the final pay? Nahire ako dyan, coordinator ng internal team. Sa unang meeting pa lang, minura agad ako ng boss dahil hindi siya na-inform na onboarding orientation pa lang ako with HR, na para bang may contact ako sa kanya para nasabihan sya agad. All throughout that meeting, puro mura ang narinig ko, at tinawag pa niya ang mga VAs na “f\ng sh*t.” May everyday meeting rin na puro mura din. Hindi lang sya tuwing morning, every chance he get he would call me, minsan para lang pagalitan ako.

After one week, nag-immediate resignation ang manager ko. Walang proper training, nagkakamali ako, lalo di naman lahat tinuro ng manager. May mga decision making for the team na rin na responsibilidad ko daw pero wala naman sa JD ko. 3 days after, terminated na agad ako. Wala rin silang ibinigay na last pay. May ibang VA na nag-chat sa akin na bigla rin silang tinanggal at hindi rin nabigyan ng last pay. Meron din di nila binayaran dahil lang di nila gusto ang "attitude".

Nalaman ko na lang sa iba na more or less 2 weeks lang tumatagal ang ibang tao. Makikita nyo rin sa Trust Pilot reviews na may mga tinakbuhan silang clients. Napakatoxic ng management.

Please beware. Wag na kayo gumaya sa akin na nasayang ang 11 days ko sa kanila. Paid ako sa 5 days. Still following up my last pay.

For context: I applied at SM Headquarter July 2026 pa nakapag pasa naman ako kagad nang requirements.

Start na dapat nang August, yung ang sabi sakin. Mag open na daw ako payroll sa BDO kung saang branch ako.

September na wala parin kase nga On hold daw deployment para dun sa position. Nag aalangan ako mag apply sa iba, kase nga nakapag open nako payroll account

Ganto ba talaga katagal mag deploy ang SM?!

Normal lang ba na ilang buwan pag intayin yung applicant?!

Time lang ba nila ang binibigyang halaga nila, pero pag applicant wala na?!

Nagsabi pa sila nung una kaya sila hiring kase nga may open positions then ngayon wala bigla.

Nagwowork ako sa IT consulting company. US company siya pero majority ng leadership team mga Indiano. Banas na banas ako na pinupush nila na India yung ipasok sa projects pero di naman magagaling. Kung may magaling man at matino, mga 1 out of 10, the rest puro kelangan spoonfed. Ang hirap pa, Eastern shift sinusundan namin, tapos silang mga Indiano di daw pwede mag night shift dahil may law sila about it. So nangyayari sinasalo namin lagi trabaho na naiiwan nila kasi during their work hours, di rin nila alam pano gawin dahil nga 8080 sila.

Nakakainis lang rin na kahit yung mga director at VP na naiinvolve sa project namin, wala rin ibang ginawa kundi mag commit ka gagawin yung hinihingi ng client, pero di tinatanong sa gagawa kung kaya ba siya. Nagcocommit sila without even confirming with the team.

During townhall nagtatanong sila ano nagiging problem tapos pag niraise mo nagiging defensive na it’s because we need to protect the account. Gets ko naman, sige. Pero sana naman protect our people rin minsan.

Nagpapa stay nalang sakin ngayon yung direct manager ko na very supportive. Kaso lately, kahit anong pushback rin niya di na rin siya pinapakinggan ng mga bwisit na Indiano na ‘to.

Pa-rant lang muna.

Naghahanap na rin ako ng ibang work, wala pa lang ako mahanap na ok yung offer. Kahit gusto ko mag stay dahil minsan lang rin ako makahanap ng matinong direct manager, iba parin pag yung leadership team yung kalaban.

It hasn't stopped raining for days. Entire barangays are underwater. People are being evacuated. And we are still open.

We have begged not once, not twice, but over and over for management to suspend operations for a single day. One day. For the safety of the people who actually keep this mall running. Every plea has been met with silence.

Not one plan to help employees. Not one. But there's already a thread going on how to "recover the financial losses" from the drop in foot traffic. Read that again. The province is drowning and the concern is the sales gap.

Then HR sends out their group message. "SaFeTy FiRsT." Followed immediately by orders to report to work so there's warm bodies on the ground to give a play-by-play of the crisis. Photos. Updates. Hourly reports. All so upper management can scroll through it from their dry living rooms and feel informed.

And the agency personnel the janitors, the guards, the technicians, are treated like equipment. Deploy them. Move them. Send them out into chest-deep floodwater to take pictures and set up sandbags that do nothing, purely so the mall can show the owners that "actions are being taken." Minimum wage. No hazard pay. Nothing. And the moment their billing goes over the budget someone dreamed up in an aircon office, they're cut. Disposable. That's the word. Disposable.

One more "Stay safe!" from HR and I swear I'm going to lose it.

SM does not care. They say operations continue for the people who need essentials. Noble, right? Then what about the people who make those operations possible? They pat themselves on the back for "opening their doors to shelter the community." You didn't shelter anyone. You just didn't lock the door. That's not compassion, that's just press release.

This is the culture SM built. Top to bottom. Zero regard for people, total devotion to margins and to protecting the company's image. The floodwater rises and the only thing anyone upstairs is worried about is the number at the end of the month.

I've been with other conglomerates and never have I seen this level of toxicity. This is the culture they fostered. From the Sy's, to the current president and executives.

Saw this job ad and… can we talk about the responsibilities and the salary being offered?! Like, whut?? 😭 And then there are the benefits.

Is this really what local companies in the Philippines are offering nowadays, or am I missing something?

Would love to hear your thoughts, especially from people who have experience with similar roles.

My company recently got new graduate trainees for our team. The thing is, wala naman talagang project naka-line up pa for them kaya nadagdagan lang trabaho namin.

We're training them to learn na lang and hope we can come up with something. Kapagod!!

Mas mataas sweldo nila now. Baka sila pa makakuha ng mas mataas na position after their program. Yung mga homegrown na naman ang napag-iwanan. They have budget for graduate trainees but not for their homegrown talent.

​TL;DR: HR told me 3 separate times that my NDA was respected and payslips were optional. Then dropped my application right after scheduling my medical exam because I refused to violate my NDA contract. Medyo naguluhan ako dun nak. Ano ba talaga.

Rant/discussion ahead because I honestly can't wrap my head around how some HR teams operate these days.

Before my initial interview, I actually read a bunch of threads about a mid-sized tech services company in the Mandaluyong / Ortigas area here on Reddit. I saw a few red-flag posts here on reddit, but I took them with a grain of salt thinking they were just one-off subjective rants. Welp, jokes on me turns out the warnings were spot on.

So here's the tea. ☕

I recently went through the recruitment process for a senior role with this tech company. Everything was going smoothly. Aced the technical rounds, finished the final panel interview, and felt the technical team actually wanted me in. I was in the early stages of pre-employment requirements and was excited.

Here’s where things get ridiculous.

From day one, I was upfront about one thing: I cannot provide the exact amount of what I'm currently earning because I have an NDA with my current employer. I cannot hand over payslips or internal salary breakdowns without risking legal liability. Iykyk.

During the initial interview, the recruiter told me it was completely fine and wouldn't be an issue at all.

After passing the final round, they sent me an email where their checklist explicitly stated submitting previous payslips was optional.

During the pre-JO call, the HR manager whom I had only met at this stage brought up the payslip again. I reiterated my active NDA, to which she replied that it was fine and that she understood.

Then, overnight, a complete 180.

I woke up to an email basically saying: If you don't send your payslip, COE with compensation, or your BIR 2316 from last year, we cannot compute your Job Offer and cannot proceed with your application.

What baffles me is that this boundary was established from the initial screening all the way to the pre-JO meeting.

I stood my ground and reiterated that I cannot breach my active contract. Their response? They officially dropped my application right after scheduling my medical exam.

If historical salary disclosure was a mandatory, non-negotiable requirement for your offer formula, why not disqualify me during the initial screening? Why tell me it's totally okay, make me jump through panel interviews, endorse me for medicals, and waste everyone’s time?

It feels wild that in 2026, some companies still anchor offers purely on old payslips instead of candidate value and market ratesand worse, penalize you for actually having the integrity to respect a legal contract.

Has anyone else dealt with companies demanding payslips this aggressively at the finish line, even after acknowledging your NDA? How did you handle it?

Humingi lang ako ng honest thoughts, advice, at reality check tungkol sa nangyari sa akin sa previous BPO employer ko.

First job ko ito at sobrang nakaka-overwhelm emotionally kasi isa ako sa mga inaasahan at main breadwinners sa pamilya namin. Aware naman ako sa overbreaks dahil sa sobrang pagod at puyat sa queues, pero pakiramdam ko talaga napaka-unfair ng nangyari kasi:

• From Hybrid/WFH to Work Onsite Nalang & Lack of Coaching: Nagsimula ako bilang hybrid/WFH setup kung saan sobrang nakakapagod ang queues, hanggang sa kalaunan ay na-advise na kaming mag-work on site nalang nang tuluyan. Bigla ko nalang nalaman na may offenses pala ako na 16-minute first warning at 8-minute final warning, tapos agad na nilagay under Gross and Habitual Neglect of Duty. Hindi ko man lang naalala na may pinirmahan akong NTE noon o kung nagkaroon man ng coaching.
• Agad na Disciplinary Conference, Pinatapos ang Shift, at Pinapirma ng NOD Within the Day: Noong nagka-conference meeting na para sa incident, agad nilang sinabi na terminated na ako. Pero imbes na pauwiin agad, pinaltapos muna nila sa akin ang buong shift ko noong huling araw ko (August 26, 2022). Pagkatapos na pagkatapos ng shift, iginiit ng OM na kailangan kong pirmahan ang Notice of Decision (NOD) within the day.
• Zero HR Explanation sa Quitclaim at Final Pay Deductions: Naibalik ko nang buo at walang kulang ang lahat ng IT equipment at company assets. Sa final pay email, nakasulat na gross total ay PHP 37,000+, pero humigit-kumulang PHP 19,000+ nalang ang pumasok dahil sa mga deductions. Nung isinend ng HR ang Release, Waiver, and Quitclaim kasabay ng final pay, wala silang pinalwanag kahit ano tungkol sa kung ano ang ibig sabihin ng quitclaim o kung para saan ang mga bawas. Sinabi lang nila na kailangan kong pirmahan at i-send pabalik para ma-process at ma-release ang final pay ko. Dahil gipit na gipit ako nung oras na yun, pinirmahan ko nalang din agad sa email.

Matagal ko ring gustong ma-move on kasi bata pa ako nun at hindi ko alam ang mga legal process. Pero kamakailan, ipinaalala ng kaibigan ko na may 4-year prescriptive period ang illegal dismissal cases sa Pilipinas. Dahil mag-a-4 years na ngayong September 19, 2026, sinubukan kong mag-submit ng SEnA claim sa DOLE bago matapos ang timeframe kasi pakiramdam ko talaga hindi makatarungan ang ginawa nila sa akin.

Naisip ko lang itanong sa inyo:

1. Mabigat ba sa SEnA conciliation ang Kawalan ng HR Explanation sa Quitclaim, ang Kawalan ng Coaching, at pagpapatapos ng shift habang pinapapirma agad ng NOD within the day? Maituturing ba itong procedural failure o unfair labor practice ng kumpanya?
2. May pag-asa pa bang ma-question ang Deductions at Voiding ng Quitclaim? Dahil walang inexplain ang HR at pinapirma lang ako para lang ma-process ang final pay, maaari ko pa bang hilingin sa DOLE na i-audit ang kinaltas sa PHP 37,434 lalo't kumpleto kong naibalik ang IT equipment?
3. Ano ang posibleng mangyari sa SEnA conference? Dahil nag-file na ako ng SEnA, ano ang karaniwang kinahihinatnan ng ganitong kaso kung ipaglalaban ko ang illegal dismissal o money claims?

Need help on what I should do.

I am a project based employee and I belong to the IT industry(Not going to specify my exact role, might be tracked down by my company). Recently I received a memo from our HR that we need to render an additional 30 mins at work daily to maintain good relations with our client(I took a screenshot syempre). When I asked if this is going to payed, I was shut down by our HR(wala daw kaming consideration). Tho I believe this is illegal under Philippine Labor Law. I'm thinking to file a complaint sa DOLE but I've heard, mostly ng mga complaints sa kanila hindi daw nag po progress. Now, I want to resign but the job market is quite scarce. Any suggestions on what I should do?

I need help with my bf's previous employer (CNX). There was a hearing before kasi my bf was not able to properly utilize the tools and the hr gave the decision to his TL. Then, the TL of my bf decided to keep him

Last night and out of nowhere, the OM talked to my bf and she eventually progressed the case without notifying the TL of my bf. She just discussed the termination and such like it's normal or casual.

I found this unfair because that OM only shows up when someone is getting fired. Mind u, she tolerated tl having rs with an agent then that agent committed multiple acts of chat and voice disconnect. It created more toxic and hostile environment because yung agent na jowa ng tl bullies some quiet people from prod cause she gets away from it. And, naproprotektahan sya ng jowa nya

My jowa escalated that agent pero wala naman nagawa yung OM. Sinasabi lang "will coach her" lolz

Here is the exact breakdown of what happened:

The Forced Resignation Under Duress:

* I worked as a Senior Customer Service Representative for a major fintech company.

* On May 18, 2026, immediately after I returned from an approved sick leave, my Line Manager called me into an unrecorded 1-on-1 meeting on MS Teams.

* Without issuing any written Notice to Explain (NTE) or scheduling an administrative hearing, he verbally threatened me with immediate summary dismissal, claiming management and HR had already finalized a verdict to terminate me over performance metrics.

* Under extreme pressure, I initially submitted an immediate resignation. However, I immediately told him that I could not afford to lose my job or be left without income.

* To "do me a favor," he talked to HR to modify the arrangement from an immediate resignation to a 30-day rendering period (setting my last day to June 15) so I could secure my upcoming payouts. He explicitly instructed me to keep this rendering agreement secret from others.

The Retraction, Internal Ethics Escalation & HR Omissions:

* In mid-June, realizing that this coerced arrangement was completely unfair and violated my constitutional right to due process, I formally submitted a request to retract my resignation.

* My manager verbally blocked my request, falsely claiming that retractions involving performance metrics are automatically denied by management.

* I escalated the matter by filing an internal report. During my official HR interview on June 17, the HR Representative verbally admitted that line management completely bypassed required company due process (skipping both the NTE and administrative hearing).

* I was placed on Non-Working Paid Leave pending investigation. Soon after, my corporate IT access was abruptly cut off, and HR emailed me encrypted files containing "Minutes of the Meeting" that I couldn't open.

* On July 16, HR denied my retraction request and declared my internal report "unsubstantiated," setting my effective separation date to July 16. I sent an immediate written reply rejecting their findings, asserting Constructive Dismissal, and formally reserving all my legal rights.

* When I finally received physical copies of the HR minutes via local courier, I discovered that HR had conveniently omitted the representative's verbal admissions about line management skipping the NTE and due process protocols.

DOLE SEnA Outcome & NLRC Escalation:

* I filed for DOLE SEnA assistance claiming Constructive/Illegal Dismissal, Separation Pay, Backwages, and proper inclusion of my regular sales commissions.

* During our final SEnA conciliation conference via Zoom, external legal counsel representing the company manifested that management declined to extend any settlement offer, claiming there was "no coercion" and that I resigned voluntarily.

* DOLE issued my DOLE-SENA Form (Referral Form for Unresolved Issues), officially referring the dispute to the NLRC.
