Question So, is this sub about cats with anxiety or anxious people who own cats? 😆

Hey everyone!
I'm one of the mods, and we get asked this question quite a bit, so I thought I'd share the story behind our community's name!
It all started with our first community, r/AnxietyChats. We created it as a warm, welcoming place where people living with anxiety could support one another. Before long, our mod team noticed something many of us had in common...
We were completely "happily" obsessed with cats.
People were always sharing photos, funny stories, and the little ways their cats helped them through tough days. It was such a lovely part of the community that we started wondering what a space dedicated to that idea might look like.
Then we spotted a fun bit of wordplay...
Take the "H" out of Chats, and you get Cats.
That's how Anxiety Cats was born!
It's the sister community to Anxiety Chats, however with a lighter, fluffier focus, a place to celebrate the fluffy babies who help us feel a little calmer, make us laugh, and remind us we're never completely alone.
We absolutely adore this place and are so thankful for each and every one of you!
And if you ever need us, have a question or just want to say hello, we're always around! ❤️

If I fits, I sits I fit just right! Cat's in boxes, bags, cabinets, baskets, cupboards and anywhere else they can squeeze in!😼📦

If it fits, I sits. 😂 A space that is clearly WAY too small? CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! 😼

Let's share!👇🐾

Tongue out Toast Tuesday (she was a love sponge).

We found Toast at a shelter in a different town. We hadn't gone there to get her.. she came to get my wife, once we entered the room she was in.

She insisted on being picked up, and then immediately embraced her around the neck and started purring.

She was tiny, and her coat was dull. She clearly wasn't thriving there, so we convinced our landlord to let us have another cat and adopted her.

For the five years we had her, she was the single most loving, mellow cat either of us has ever known. Toast never met a stranger because every person was a friend. Every visitor was sat upon, and her love tax was collected.

Her favorite person of all, though, was my wife, Mrs. Giligadi. Our winter nights were blissful with familiars in our laps to warm up the blankets. 2021 took them both, first Maia (my familiar) in late June then Toast in late September.

Same date, actually. She died suddenly, and shockingly (not violently, but i will spare the details unless you are curious. I'll always answer questions). It was heartbreaking.

We miss her dearly. Here she is on her cat tree, which she loved.

Long live the memory of Toast. She was a *really* good cat.

Days like these I forget she enjoys running water

Today after work I did the dishes that needed to be done. Autumn, being the ever curious cat hopped up on the counter next to me to watch even though she's not allowed on the counter. It's not her first time either, she's always climbing up on the counter to watch me do the dishes, one time she even jumped in the bathtub to lick the dog dry after a bath when I had gone to get a bath towel.

Forever in Our Hearts Tribute to: Sweet baby girl, Kirs 🌼🌈

This is Kris. She loved napping on Mommy’s pillow and was always happiest when she could be close to her. She never committed any crimes… other than absolutely hating Meowmy’s other cat. 😂

Her superpower was how incredibly loud she could be despite being such a tiny girl, only 5 lbs! One of Meowmy’s favorite and most iconic things about her was the way she would stretch all four paws out at once. She was also the sweetest little snuggle bug, and Meowmy could always count on waking up to find her curled up beside her. Somehow, that made mornings just a little bit better. ❤️

Kris passed away in January last year, but she left behind so many precious memories and so much love. She was a very good cat, and she will always be remembered as one. 🐾❤️

⬇️⬇️💝

Losing a cat leaves such a big space behind.

They may have been with you through ordinary days, difficult moments, major life changes, and countless quiet evenings. Even when they're no longer here, the love, comfort, and memories they gave us stay with us.

Tributes

Share a little about your furbaby and the special place they'll always hold in your heart.

A photo isn't required, but we'd love to include one in their tribute if you'd like to share it.

The time we get with them is never long enough, but the love and memories they leave us with can last a lifetime.

Whether you share below or send us a DM, we'd love to hear about the cat who left paw prints on your heart 🌼🙏🏻

She gives all her love when the mood strikes her. Very often in winter, because she's a heat vampire. And filled with love.

I played this for her while feeding her “store bought cat’s milk”, y’all know the kind…when she first got here. I think she remembers.

Edit: ngl, this thought crossed my mind… I don’t think she can actually see the colors on the wand. From my research, it probably looks like I’m waving a blue and yellow thing.

I've spent the last two weeks actually sorting my bedroom out and getting organised now my ADHD meds are working. Pepper is exhausted from watching me do all the work while she inspects.

We also recently got our kitchen remodeled and she made sure to inspect every stage of the redevelopment.

Figured I should introduce all three of our boys: Charlie (floof), Toki (orange), and Binx (void). Toki provides the emotional support while the other two HAVE anxiety.

My Baby/Babies Your Cat’s Personality in ONE Word

If you had to describe your furbaby’s entire personality using just ONE word, what would it be? Mine would be: 😾 Possessive (Kimmy), 😽 Clingy (Bigo), 😼 Territorial (Lisa), 😸 Spoiled (Elvis), 🐶 Dramatic (Bruce), 🐱 Antisocial (Lily), and 🙀 Paranoid (Salem). 😂 They’re all my kids, after all! LOL 😅

Moon Rock

She doesn't like to be held and is a cuddler on her terms only. But the 1st anxiety attack I had after we brought her home? Sweet girl couldn't get to me fast enough. She was THERE and DEMANDING attention and to be held. It's like she was saying "This is my time to shine. I've got this".

She has resued me ever since. As soon as my voice gets that urge in it, Moon Rock is in my face grabbing my attention from the icky feelings.
