Landlord won't do water heater replacement. What are my options?

I'm renting a townhouse and the water heater died completely 2 days ago. The lease says he's responsible for major appliance repairs/replacement, so I sent my landlord the photos and the notes from the plumber but only got the generic "would look into it" as a response. I have 2 kids and we're on day 3 of boiling pots on the stove for baths. I don't want to pay it for myself (and I read getting the process wrong can get you evicted?) Any advice?

Washer Leaking

I live in an apartment and recently my washing machine made a loud noise (like I thought something had fallen on the floor) and a pretty large amount of water came out onto the floor. The washer wasn’t in use or anything.
Since then, I’ve used the washer multiple times and it DOES NOT leak while it’s actually running, filling, spinning, or draining. Everything seems completely normal during a load.
The weird part is that every day or two now, I’ll randomly find a small amount now of clean water that has come out around/under the washer. This can happen even when the washer has been completely off and hasn’t been used for a couple of days. It doesn’t seem like a slow drip that gradually makes a puddle either, it seems like a small amount of water comes out at once.
The water looks clean, and my toilet, sinks, shower, etc. are all draining/flushing normally with no gurgling, backups, or other plumbing issues.
Any idea what could cause a washer to release water while it’s completely off, especially days after it was last used? Could the original loud noise have damaged or knocked something loose? I’m putting in a maintenance request, but I’m curious what could be causing it and don’t want to be charged for it haha! Thanks! The first photo is the amount I see now and the other two are from the first time (ignore the glob of hair in the photo😭)

14 year old whirlpool let the smoke out

Thumbnail gallery

My 14 year old whirlpool duet washer let the smoke out of the motor control board. No obvious signs of a cause. Wife was washing an average load of towels at the time of failure. Should I just blindly throw a new board at it and hope for the best or is there some testing I should be doing to look for a cause? Should I just replace the washer as the board itself is almost $400 to replace on a 14 year old appliance? Any advice from someone in the trade would be appreciated.

Samsung vs Home Depot vs Best Buy warranty

I’m buying a Samsung Bespoke ventless washer dryer combo. I’ve heard about the issues they have and plan to buy a 5 year warranty. Who would you recommend buying and getting the warranty through? Samsung directly, Home Depot or Best Buy? TIA!

Should I buy these?Used washer & dryer

I'm going to move into an apartment where the current occupant wants to sell me her washer and dryer.

That would be the simplest and easiest way to go.

However, based on what I've learned about them, I don't know whether to take her up on her offer.

  1. She says she doesn't know how old they are. (How could you not know?! Were they inherited?)

  2. They were in storage for 8 years.

  3. Brand: Whirlpool

  4. She wouldn't let me see them, which bothers me.

--- She said she was too busy with her WFH job.

--- And that her dog would bark the entire time, and she didn't want to bother her neighbors. (Shares a wall with them.)

----I'm thinking it would only be 5 minutes, and she could put the dog in a back room.

  1. I asked for pictures, including of the dial panels, and she has sent those.

They look fine/normal/not old.

  1. She's asking $400.

---Should I offer less?

---I've never had to buy these before.

I'm also asking our mutual friend for her advice.

t would be so convenient to buy these and not have to shop for others, buy them, get them to the apartment, and find someone to hook them up.

What would you do?

TIA!

Can anyone fix my shark air blow dryer?

My shark air hair dryer turns on high speed cold, then gets hot for a few seconds, and then goes down to low speed cold. And I cant press the buttons to adjust the speed or temperature anymore. I’ve cleaned the filter and everything and it still doesn’t work

LG Dryer - Repair or Replace

I have a front loading LG dryer, about 15 years old , showing the blinking drying light and not turning /running - I believe it occurred when it was run overloaded with wet heavy towels. My guess is the Thermal fuse. I've tried cleaning the lint filter and vent, unplugging it , neither helped.

Over the years I've replaced the companion washer's pump 2 times. Especially after the local repair place charged me $300 back in 2016. But looking at what it's going to take for this , not sure i want to tackle this. My guess is it's not going to be cheap to repair around here.

Asking for advice so I know it's not going to be cheap to repair the dryer , is it possible it's not the Thermal fuse- Am I better off just saying goodbye and buying a new dryer? Would it be better at this point to replace the washer and dryer at the same time?

If I go with a new one

Staying with LG DLE3400 or DLEX4000B, is it worth the extra cost? This happened last night so I'm kind of in a bind.
