PSA 📢 Automated Transaction Flair is Now Live on r/AquaSwap 📢

Hi everyone!

After months of trying to build our own automated flair system, we've decided to implement a temporary solution to help automate transaction tracking while Reddit's API restrictions continue to make custom development difficult.

What's changing?

We've installed a bot that can automatically track completed transactions and update your flair.

Important: This bot does not distinguish between sales, purchases, or trades. Every successfully confirmed interaction counts as a single transaction toward your flair.

For example:

Buy → +1 transaction
Sell → +1 transaction
Trade → +1 transaction

The goal is to recognize successful community interactions regardless of the type of exchange, for now.

What happens to existing flairs?

To start, all users will begin at 0 tracked transactions as the bot begins building its database.

However, users who already have established AquaSwap flairs will not lose their standing:

Confirmed / Guaranteed / Veteran users will start at the appropriate threshold (give us a little time to fully implement)

If you previously had a legitimate transaction history that is not reflected by the new system, moderators may consider manually adjusting your flair. Any adjustments will require valid proof of completed transactions (such as previous confirmation history). Subject to our discretion and availability.

Why are we using this?

Many of you know we've been working on a custom solution for months. Unfortunately, Reddit API changes have made that significantly more difficult than expected. Rather than continue waiting indefinitely, we're rolling out this automated system so everyone can begin benefiting from automatic transaction tracking now.

This is intended as an interim solution. Once we're able to complete our own custom bot, we'll migrate to a more feature-rich system that more closely matches our original vision (and your flair count will import over, don't worry!)

As with any new system, there may be a few bumps along the way. If you notice an issue, have questions, or have suggestions, please leave a comment below or contact the moderators through Modmail.

Please keep in mind that this is not our own custom-built bot, so we do not have control over all of its functions or limitations. We will do our best to address issues where we can and pass along feedback that may help improve the system.

Warning: The swap confirmation system is intended only for legitimate completed transactions. Abusing this system in any way, including submitting false confirmations, confirming swaps that did not occur, or attempting to manipulate swap counts, will result in a permanent ban from the subreddit.

How Does This Process Work?

Note: Swap confirmations may take a few minutes as the bot processes the confirmation.

After completing a swap, adhering to the rules listed above, either party involved should make a top-level comment (i.e., comment on the post, not on someone else's comment) declaring the swap In this comment, tag the other Redditor by typing their username, including the leading u/. This action serves a dual purpose: it notifies the other Redditor to confirm the swap, and it alerts u/swap-bot to monitor for the confirmation. The other Redditor should then reply to this comment (i.e., do not create another top-level comment; instead, reply to the initial comment) to indicate that the swap was successful.

Important: It's advisable to WAIT until the swap is successfully completed—meaning all money/items have been properly exchanged/received—before posting your confirmation.

Example: 1. u/AquaSwapM0d comments: Sold plants to u/AquaSwapB0t 2. u/AquaSwapB0t replies: Confirmed 3. u/swap-bot replies to u/AquaSwapM0d's comment indicating that their swap counts have been updated.

FAQ

The bot mentioned that additional information is required. What should I do?

If this occurs, it suggests that the bot couldn't find enough information to confirm the swap. Please message the moderators, who can review and approve the swap by replying Approved to your swap comment.
The bot didn't respond to my comment. What's wrong?

Did you comment Confirmed? If not, add a NEW comment reply stating Confirmed. Avoid editing the existing comment. If you did reply Confirmed but received no response, please message the moderators. The bot might be experiencing issues!
