Last pic was exactly a year ago. I’m so proud of it, considering it’s my first tank as an adult. There was definitely a big learning curve to fishkeeping and aquascaping, but I’m so glad I stuck it out and my little ecosystem is thriving for the most part. Looking into adding more fish soon.

Things have really grown in these last 2 months over summer. Pleased with how this tank has turned out 😁

Hey hey just planted this scape a couple of days ago. Could I get some advice on which of these two looks better? The main difference is the comp, specifically how far the wood and rocks should extend onto the open sand area on the left.

Don’t mind the differences in lighting,, these were taken at different times of the day. And the ugly filter on the left will be removed once the tank is fully cycled lol

Started at the end of February. I built the rack around this Landen 100P. It was the most tank I could fit into my kitchen. I grew up fishing in the mangroves and wanted to do a freshwater homage to that environment. Mangrove roots are slow-growing but they are reaching down gradually. No CO2 although I'm tempted, the limestone would not approve.

I say the outside of the aquarium is just as important as the inside of it. Agree or Disagree?

How do you think I could improve my hardscape? I plan to plant it heavily with Eleocharis acicularis mini and eleocharis montevidensis, inspired by this aquascape from the ADA gallery.

Im new in aquascaping. Currently there are 7 neon,5 ember and 5 penguin tetras in my tank also 1 siamese algae eater, 2 nerite snail and 13 shrimp. Do you guys think im overstocking and i plan to add a centre piece like honey gourami. Please help me to find the perfect size of fish for my tank. It is a 50x26x30cm tank. My anubias is blooming does that mean the water is in good condition.

This is my 180litres tank. I own only few smaller fish and aquascaping isn't really my strength lol. I recently dreamt about just changing the layout completely but I don't have the budget for that right now.

so I was wondering... what would you guys change in my tank, using whats already in it, to improve it? (I think I just don't have the imagination)

I have three driftwoods, one is on the left. That's the most heaviest one about 30cm long. On the right there is one that's just flat triangle-like shape and there is also the third and smallest one laying on top of it.

I unfortunately don't have any rocks.

I was thinking about putting all three of my driftwoods together, creating an island, but due to the wood being each so different I don't know if it would be possible. Also if I make an island in the centre of tank, what do I do with the plants?

Also I watched a lot of aquascaping videos, but just can't figure out how to change and use what I already have.

I am currently planning my first somewhat scape like tank after owning a "normal" one for multiple years. I'm going for simple but good looking, as it's a ~50l tank that'll be inhabitated by a betta once done and cycled. I have successfully gathered longterm fertilizer (there wont me much direct light and I had problems with dying plants before), volcano gravel, soil and sand (top layer), I have stones and some wood, plants will follow once I have built the actual thing.

I however saw someone recommending a thin net between soil and sand (so the sand stays separate to the soil). I am wondering now... what kind of net? There's a whole lot of things called net or netting in the www and I have no clue what size the holes need to be so they will neither restrict the plant roots nor let sand sink down.

So... any suggestions on that?

Also, while I already type out a post, how long do I have to water the wooden parts (It's not a very heavy or dense wood), and does glueing smaller plants to wood really work long term?

Placed on my kitchen counter so it's a 360 view. How would you improve this? What would you add or take away? Would like this to be heavily planted but currently planning on low-tech. My upgrade in a few months I'm going to do inline CO2.

I was thinking a carpet of hydrocotyle tripartita 'mini' (also known as Japanese Dwarf Pennywort 'Mini') but my tissue culture of it keeps getting uprooted by snails so I was thinking to buy a mat and cut it to size for the foreground.

This is my 10gal. It's currently overstocked, but the parameters have been keeping up fine so I'm okay with it. Eventually I'm going to move all these guys to a 20 gallon bookshelf long once I set my apartment up and can convince myself to actually buy a new tank instead of just getting free ones on Facebook marketplace.

had a lot of fun with this one. gonna stock it with blue dream neocaridina. originally there wasn’t suppose to be a rock but the wood kept floating so I ran out and grabbed one. at first I thought it was too big but now I kinda like it. let me know what you think!!

So im designing my first triptych tank layout and looking for some feedback on the hardscape so far. Middle tank is mostly there but the left side is under construction still.

Just a heads up that we are in the process of moving house, so we dont have everything here yet, hence no lights on the left tank, and no third tank on the right whatsoever!

The left tank is a scaper 140, the middle a 120x50x50, and the right most is a scaper 140 as well (at the old house)

I am going for a young tree collapsed in to the river vibe, with the left most tank intended to be the bank and root heavy. There will be some plants growing out the top on the left side and there is room behind the tank as well for plants if needed.

The third tank on the right wont quite mirror the left tank, as it will be more focused on a reed bed feel rather than root/bank heavy.

Is this a solid layout? And can you see this reading as a single scape while each individual tank works on its own?

The reason for a triptych is to try something new, and also so that we can keep our various species of fish who prefer different parameters in one place to enjoy them as one viewing experience.

Any feedback appreciated, and any suggestions for plant species also welcome!

For the experiment, I used a 40x25x26 cm aquarium. The setup involved using exclusively tissue-cultured plants throughout the tank to test the ST Aqua WRGB V1 aquatic plant light that I built myself.

Therefore, I used the dry start method to cultivate the tissue-cultured plants, allowing them to establish themselves well before adding water.

The tissue-culture plants I currently have are *Micranthemum* sp. "Monte Carlo"

*Eleocharis parvulus* "Mini"

*Micranthemum callitrichoides*

*Utricularia graminifolia*

*Cryptocoryne wendtii* "Brown"

*Cryptocoryne wendtii* "Green Gecko" *Alternanthera reineckii* "Rosanervig" *Staurogyne repens*.

I’ll be adding more in the future and will keep you updated. What do you all think?

Hey yall, I am setting up a 30g and would love to start exploring more advanced setups. I got back into the hobby as a broke grad student a few years back, and so my first tanks and what Im most comfortable with is low/no tech setups, dirted tanks, and letting plants do the work. With this as a new space, I'd love to try something new like CO2, a first canister filter, and different plants that may grow better with the different setup. Any advice on lights and hardware? I see all these channels using twinstar and chihiros lights or $300 filters when most of mine are hygger and imaginarium and have literally no idea where to start

Anyone got any good plant suggestions for this layout? WIP so dont judge the cardboard setup. White box will be the filter.

I was thinking plenty of crypts in the mid ground. Java fern + bolbitos on the wood about mid way up. A tiger lotus for a pop of colour.

But im a bit unsure on how best to fill out the back and the foreground/top of the rocks to hide crypt stems

Need plants that are very low maintenance.

I work next to a golf course and pick up at least a stray ball per week. I feel like they’d be unique and a bit whimsical inside a tank. Thoughts?

Just wanted to show how the tank is coming along after a month! It’s currently going through its ugly duckling/diatom phase but hoping it’ll grow out of it soon (the sand/gravel in the front is the worst part).

Just did my first trim + replant on the rotala (back-left) a couple days ago. Haven’t done that on the bacopa just yet. A lot of the buce and alternathera melted but most are coming back (and I added additional plants about a week ago).

Would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions on this tank!

I need some plant recommendations for a 100x40x50cm tank roughly 40x16x21 inches. The tank is dosed with all in 1 liquid fertilizer, no co2 injection for now, tropica aquasoil, chihiros b series light. My plan is to make this a “aquascape” tank where i can still selective colony breed guppys and shrimp. (My plan is to remove the val and replace it with lymnophila seseloflora/dwarf ambulia, move the bacopa next and in front of the ambulia a bit and the whole right side of the background will be empty for new plants, i also want a plant to fill out the bare spots between and under the wood and foreground ish plant.
Any advice is appreciated even if its not about plants

Re-did a recent cube scape I was unhappy with and this is where I landed, which I was pretty pleased with until I thought too hard about it... Are the 'branches' overkill? Should it just be the main piece and plants? Any suggestions to improve the layout?

Hello! I’m planning to place a 25 gallon aquarium with lots of hardscape/rocks inside in my room. The went of the aquarium will be about 400lbs including the stand.

For context I’m planning to place the aquarium on the second floor of my bungalow. My house was built around 1970’s to the 80’s. My floor is made out of wood and everywhere I walk it squeaks. Beneath the floors it’s supported by wood joists. The aquarium will be sitting against a wall that is NOT a load bearing wall, but is about 2-3 meters near a load bearing wall. I also believe that the tank will be sitting parallel to the joists opposed to the recommend perpendicular.

I currently have a 10 gallon cube and I can see the water moving on the top everytime I walk around the room. Would you guys feel safe to place this aquarium here? Please help!! Responses are greatly appreciated! Thanks for the help in advance!!

30L tank from a novice. Any tips are more than welcome. Will add loads of plants and the goal is to house a beta and some shrimp.

Starting the cycling process on my first tank. What do yall suggest for plants? Currently no CO2, but wanting something flowy and maybe a little color.

The left one is a rescaped tank from my 2 years old tank.

I setup both of these in mid June and both are low tech with the right tank has DIY CO2 in it.

For the left one, I added 10 skittle neos and 6 dwarf rasboras with 1 bumblebee horn snails but I haven't add anything in the right one. There are bladder snails hitchhiker in both tank but I think they would be a great cleanup crew.

Now, 2 of the neos are berried and I can't wait for the lil shrimps in the tank.

What should I add at the right tank? The water parameter is similar with the left tank so if I would like to add shrimp, I needed to add neos and not caridina.

My tank used to be like this and while I was away, my betta died (my family took care of him while I was away). After that I tried several things with this tank but now, i just lost my passion after he died. I need inspiration to renew this tank. I’d appreciate if you can share your tank photos and any advice.
