Grand Rapids was a happening place from the late 1800s through the 1940s or 50s. Many Furniture companies and related factories were located there.

So jealous; I’d love to see this. I just checked their website and the show is organized by the museum itself so I’m guessing many objects are from their own collection. If that’s the case it would be worth visiting sometime.

Oh! Picture 15, the bed head looks so similar to the bed featured in Chéri, a film by Stephen Frears featuring Michelle Pfeiffer. Her entire flat was Art Nouveau and the story happened in that era.

Edit: just found another picture of that wrought iron piece, and then I realised it's the same motif as the balcony railing for Hôtel Mezzara in Paris, which is Léa de Lonval's home in Chéri. Basically, her bed replicates the motif of her balcony, which was designed by... Hector Guimard. So, either the bed was designed by him, and I should find more on it easily, or it was a prop created for the film.
