Review Sunscreen inspo: Athlizm

Post image
117 Upvotes

Just spent a few days camping at 9000 ft, nothing but sun. Too windy for hat, so it was Biore Athlizm or bust.

Results? My unprotected body is brown and toasty (that’s my shoulder in pic). Face is still about as pale as I get, thanks to the Athlizm.

Wouldn’t want to wear it every day, but when you need the big guns… yes.

Review Hada Labo

Post image
4 Upvotes

I have finally bought this Hada Labo cream and hyaluronic acid… i have been using the one produced in Poland but found out that the original company is actually this one from Japan. I’m pretty satisfied… my skin is dry, slightly atopic. I was scared that this gel cream is gonna feel unpleasant on my face like a layer but it’s actually moisturizing nicely. Have you tried it?

Review Frudia Ultra UV Shield Essence

I recently found this sunscreen at a Rossmann and decided to test it.

Texture: The texture is not as lightweight as some other sunscreens, but doesn't feel sunscreen-heavy - it is more akin to a thick barrier cream. This does make the reapplication temporarily look like the partially blended image, but it settles within less than 5 minutes.

Cast: It doesn't seem to have any white cast after settling on my pale skin but it apparently does contain some titanium dioxide. That is not the main sunscreen ingredient but I imagine it will not look so great on darker skintones regardless.

Sting: It doesn't sting my skin or eyes upon application, but it can travel down there while walking outside for a longer period of time. Then it's only a mild sting, but I'd recommend using a different sunscreen on the top of the eyelids at least. During oil cleansing, though, it didn't sting at all.

Other: Despite the heavier texture, this did not activate the sleeper agents in my acne-prone skin. This may differ between individuals.

It has a pleasant, fruity scent, which does not go away even after the 2 hours between reapplications. Whether this is a downside or a bonus depends on the individual.

Discussion Fave asian lash styles/brands?

I prefer lash styles popular in asian makeup vs western makeup. Does anyone have favorite brands/styles with this look? They’re wispy and light with minimal curl. For anyone wondering, the first pic shows Mr. Wish lashes and the second shows Hanakoko lashes (never tried this brand but LOVE the Whisper style). I feel like these lashes can be tricky to find in the US, so I wanted to open a discussion to share recs!

Discussion What are your favorite AB cream and liquid blushes that are dewy/luminous/glowy and also long lasting holding that finish in the heat?

What has been you all's favorite AB cream blushes you have tried this summer?

My criteria for a HG cream blush in stick/pan format for my dry skin is that it needs to have a dewy/glowy/luminous finish and something that lasts looking that way for like 8 hours in the heat. Not applying powder blushes on top to set.

I have 2 HG cream non AB that fit this criteria and 4 liquid non AB

. But, what are some of your AB favs?

I heard good things about AOU cream blushes in those heart pans( Glowy type).

And then Freshian - Egg-like Cream Blush. Looks good too! Clio- Essential Lipcheek Tap - looks gorgeous but maybe too light of a cream formula to be long lasting.

Thoughts?

Empties Empties & Reviews

I have combination, sensitive and acne-prone skin.

SOME BY MI Beta Panthenol Repair Cream - I enjoyed the mini. It has a light texture and calms my skin. I might buy the big version.

Isntree Onion Newpair Spot Patch - I have used those many times. I love them and rebuy often.

Elizavecca Witch Piggy Hell-Pore Blemish Spot Patch - I didn't like these. They don't stick well and didn't make much of a difference.

Celimax Noni Cream, Ampoule and Toner - the toner and cream have a heavy smell but they feel nice and didn't break me out. The ampoule didn't smell as much, I might buy the big version and continue testing.

Purito Seoul Daily Soft Touch Sunscreen - I love this sunscreen <3 The texture is nice and it doesn't break me out. I have been using it outdoors in the sun a lot and I haven't burned. It gets shiny after a while but I don't mind. I would definitely rebuy.

Anuа Heartleaf 77% Soothing Toner - breaks me out 🥲 Had to use it up on my body.

Rom&nd Juicy Lasting Tint in shade FigFig - This is my favorite lip product formula. Super pigmented, long lasting and doesn't dry my lips out. Took me like 2 years to finish 😵‍💫 I have yet to try out their new formula but I would like to finish my old ones first.

VT Cosmetics PDRN Cica Exosome R5 Firming Ampoule - Nice for makeup prep. Feels very similar to Pyunkang Yul Moisture Serum. I don't think my combo skin really needs a serum that is just moisturizing so I wouldn't rebuy.

Purito Seoul Mighty Bamboo Panthenol Cream - This is the second tube I've finished. I really like it. It's light, hydrating and calming. Very affordable and a big size. The only thing I don't like is that it pills 🥲 so I only use it at night. I have already bought a new one.

Purito Seoul Wonder Releaf Centella Serum Unscented - One of my favorite serums. I love the gel-like texture and it calms my skin effectively. I've already finished the big size and wanted a small one for travel.

Mary & May Tranexamic Acid + Glutathione Eye Cream - Honestly, I haven’t used it consistently enough to tell if it had an effect 😅 But it doesn't break me out at least.

Anuа Rice Enzyme Brightening Cleansing Powder - Soo bad. Dries me out like crazy and so hard to wash off. Had to use it up on my body. At this point I have tried multiple Anuа products and didn't like them so I'm not buying from them again 😷

BCL Saborino Good Night Mask - A packet of 7 masks. They are very small and I had to cut them to make them fit. Not as hydrating as other ones I've tried.

I also finished some samples I've had for a while (still have like 30 or more to go through). The only thing that stood out to me from one use were the Ottie platinum aura serum and toner, but the big sizes are so expensive 😵‍💫

Discussion Aqua savon eau de toilettes and a review of Shiro Earl Grey

Post image
115 Upvotes

I'm really curious about japanese perfumes, as people say they like light perfumes that are not cloying. Where I live it's always hot and humid (south america), so I thought about buying some japanese perfume.

I got shiro Earl Grey and I'm thinking of getting aqua savon kinmokusei. Has anyone here tried it?

My review of Shiro Earl Grey

It lasted around 5-7 hours on me, the scent is very different from anything else I have smelled before.

It has earl grey, but also a note (that's not listed) that's "soapy". This soapy note reminds of the Dove Body Wash Hydration Boost.

I like it, despite not being pure tea.

Discussion Yesstyle, why?

I added an item which was in stock to my cart, and it was in stock until the very moment I paid. I go look at my order details afterwards and the item is waiting for stock. The item’s profile is now “Awaiting stock: 21 days”
All of my other items are in stock. I hate you and your deception Yesstyle.

Mod Post Self-Promo Code Thread

By user request, please use this thread to post your self-promo codes. Please continue to follow the self-promo rules. Here is the past post clarifying the rules on self-promo. Rules are copied below as well.

  1. Self-promo codes are allowed. This means codes from online retailers like Yesstyle, Stylevana, etc. If you shop from websites that give you a code to give to others to use where they get a discount on their order and you get store credit, then that is considered a self-promo code. Other examples including promo codes where Person A gets the discount and Person B gets free stuff and/or upgraded status.
  2. Self-promo codes are limited to comments only. Please do not post them as standalone posts or mention them in your posts. Users tend to get annoyed when their feed is clogged up with USE MY CODE FOR 5% OFF!!! when scrolling on Reddit.
  3. You must have made 10 substantial comments in AsianBeauty before posting your promo code. These 10 comments must be made under posts other than your own. Substantial comments just mean a little effort and not "nice," "yes," "I like it too," and ":)"
  4. Two self-promo codes are allowed per week.
  5. Each time you post your self-promo code comment, your 10-comment count restarts.
  6. Accounts that only pop in to post codes and do not contribute to the sub will receive a temp ban, which may turn permanent if they keep violating the promo rules.

Discussion Products and steps to do skin prep before makeup

I don’t think my base routine is working out too well. I currently only use sunscreen and moisturizer but the makeup looks like it comes out cakey.

If you lost / used up all your skin prep products what products would you buy again? And in what order should I use the items to prep my skin?

I have combo-dry skin.

Discussion Reliable kbeauty sites that aren’t yesstyle

Let me start by saying yesstyle has the absolute WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE ever. I’ve had past orders go smoothly but the moment there’s an issue with anything, good luck trying to get help. They take forever to respond and when they do, it’s just the same canned reply without actually taking into account anything you say.

Can anyone recommend reliable kbeauty sites out there? I’ve seen a few that seem to get mixed reactions in terms of whether they’re legit or not (Dodo skin, stylevana, etc.?). It’s a shame because yesstyle seems to have the cheapest prices and a large selection, but the nightmare and headache dealing with them has put me off from them for good.

Review Ongredients barrier lotion warning

Do not use this moisturizer if you're fungal acne prone. I didn't realize I was until I started using this, and my neck erupted in acne that traveled up my jaw all the way to my forehead. It's never done that before in my entire life. My forehead is so bumpy now it feels like Braille when I run my finger across it.

I thought at first it was hormones so I used hypochlorous acid spray, acne cream, everything I could think of. Nothing was making it go away. Then I realized that the acne showed up around the same time I bought the barrier lotion. I stopped using it 2 days ago and my skin is already looking better.

I wasn't a fan of this lotion when I started using it but this just made me outright hate it. Has anyone else had a bad reaction like this? What ingredient or ingredients could be causing this?

Edit: fixed my typo. Sorry for the confusion all, hydrochlorous acid 'aint a thing that was just my brain not being online yet lol

Discussion Why hasn’t YesStyle restocked any colours of the 3CE Blur Water Tint? 😢

Post image
7 Upvotes

I swear I’ve checked regularly for months (almost a year at this point) and there’s only 3 colours in stock?? Is it being discontinued or something? My HG is Double Wind and it’s so hard to find online. I’ve only seen it on the official 3CE website I think.

The formula is amazing - non drying, weightless, doesn’t transfer, doesn’t irritate my sensitive lips. Is there a comparable product in your opinion? I’m also considering Etude’s Fixing Tint in Woody Pink.

Discussion What is your favorite sunscreen for oilly skin?

Hi everyone! I’m really confused about choosing a sunscreen and would love to know your favorite.

I have oily skin, and I’ve tried CeraVe, La Roche-Posay, and Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Aqua-Fresh. Unfortunately, they all left a greasy layer on my face, so I’m looking for something that feels lighter and less greasy.

A friend recommended these two:

- Kose Suncut Pro Defense Multi-Block UV Milk SPF50+ PA++++

- SKIN1004 Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum

If you’ve tried either of these, how did you find them? And what sunscreen would you liked most for oily skin?

( I also heard if you are buying gel sunscreens/moisturizer, you need to buy a gel face wash too. Is it true?)

Discussion To those with dry, dehydrated skin: what moisturizer do you pair with your Hada Labo Premium Lotion?

I've been trying to plan what products to buy since i've run out of moisturizer, toner and cleansers. I found out that the premium lotion from Hada Labo is super moisturizing, so my question is which moisturizer should i pair it with to seal off the moisture it will give to my skin? I've seen many people recommend the Illiyoon Ato cream as the occlusive moisturizer to keep the moisture in, but i've seen that they've gone through many reformulations since and i've been agonizing over my choices.

So to those who use the premium lotion in their current skincare routines, what moisturizer do YOU use for your dry skin?

Discussion alternatives to iunik centella calming gel cream

Ive been using it for about 2 years now and dare i say its the best product ive ever used as someone with sensitive, acne-prone oily skin in a humid tropical country. Its superr light and absorbs SO fast which is great as ive always hated the heavy feeling of certain moisturizers.

However, the only issue is that it only comes in a small 60ml container so it runs out fast and costs ~17 dollars every online repurchase... which really sucks, so ive been trying to use as little as possible to save some product but i dont think its nearly enough to keep my face properly hydrated throughout the day. So ive been searching for more value for money alternatives/ alternatives with more volume in their container.

Ive been eyeing the purito oat-in moisturizer but ive heard it has broken some people out so im a little skeptical.

Another alternative ive thought of is investing in some hydrating toner or serum to buff up my hydration if im unable to better alternatives.

Thoughts!!

iunik offer your centella calming gel cream in 120ml bottles and my life is yours..

Discussion Tell me the most unhinged ways you test makeup (I wear mine on 5k runs)

Post image
645 Upvotes

How are we testing makeup these days friends?! Some work days I might need to catch 2 flights & have 6 meetings across a city, or attend an outdoor event (with press) in 32C heat without shade (because press photogs need a clear view). To make sure my makeup can hold up on days when I have these types of schedules, I take it running. If it can hold up to a 5k run in 27C heat at 77% humidity, I'll add it to my rotation.

Curious to hear what everyone else is doing! Photo has some of my current kit "winners," wondering what is in everyone's kits for hot/humid August. (Just in case, products in the photo include from left to right, top to bottom: Kose Make Keep Mist, Bonbory Tokyo Make Keep Base, Canmake Marshmallow Finish Powder, Freshian Egg-like Cream Blush, Naming Layered Fit Cushion, Canmake Munyutto Highlighter, Decorte Zen Wear Ultra Longwear Foundation, About Tone Return to Basic Shadow Palette, The Saem eye primer, Witch's Pouch Modish Eyes Mascara, Decorte Eye Glow Gem Skin Shadow, Lala Chuu Skinny Tip Liner, Canmake Lasting Liquid Liner, Canmake Jewelry Shadow Veil, Rom&nd Color Lip Matte, Hince Mood Enhancer Water Liquid Glow, Rom&nd Blur Fudge Tint, Black Rouge Double Layer Over Velvet, Dinto Blur Glowy Lip Tint)
