Recipe Troubleshooting Cherry Cobbler
This past weekend did a cherry cobbler and followed a recipe. It called for melting the butter while the oven heated up with the butter in the dish I was going to use. Did that, took it out and then added my batter on top without mixing and then added the cherries on top of that without mixing, per instructions.
It came out tasting great, but the sides were really hard and chewy. Not sure what I did wrong. I want to make more cobblers in the future and avoid this. Luckily it was just for funsies
Any help is appreciated!

What kind of oven dish/pan did you use?

9x13 glass dish

It's probably the glass
It can cause the edges to overbake compared to the center of the dish.

Is it possible your oven is running hot? I’d recommend grabbing a cheap oven thermometer from the grocery store to verify it. Most ovens have some way of calibrating that.

Next time, try rotating the baking dish so that the melted butter also coats the sides before you put batter and fruit in. Or use a pastry brush. Good luck!

Heck yea, I thought I spread it around enough, I guess not
I do have a brush I'll try that. Knock off the dry paint lol j/k

We fight over the crunchy edge in my house. But it’s the same kinda crunchy as a brownie to me was it harder than that?
