I am coming in from Canada alone to see Kanye and am super excited to explore the city. I’ve never been to the US and I am curious what’s worth doing in Chicago. I was thinking of going to a ball game and going to some food spots but all I know is what I see online so I thought reaching out on here could be good as well.

I want to do some touristy things but also lots of not known things. I plan on being out all day, I like cars, finance, sports exploring new things and food but am open to ANY suggestions!

(No medical background) I’m considering a career change into nursing and would really appreciate some advice from RNs, especially those working in the Chicago area.

I’m planning to start with a CNA program, complete the prerequisites, and then pursue an ADN/AAS Nursing program to become an RN. Based on my current plan, I would likely be entering the RN job market in about 3 years.

For those currently working in nursing:

• How is the job market for new-grad ADN RNs in Chicago right now?
• Are major hospitals still hiring ADN RNs, or are they increasingly requiring a BSN?
• Do hospitals hire ADN new grads with the expectation that they complete an RN-to-BSN later?
• How difficult is it to get a hospital RN position immediately after graduating and passing the NCLEX?
• What do you think the ADN RN job market will look like 3 years from now?
• Since I’m changing careers, would you still recommend the CNA → ADN/RN → RN-to-BSN route in 2026?

I understand no one can predict the job market exactly three years from now, but I’d especially appreciate hearing from Chicago-area nurses, hiring managers, and recent ADN graduates about what you're seeing currently.

Hi! I’m a uni student in England and looking at options for a study year abroad. One of my options is North Park uni and it interested me as i’ve visited Chicago before and LOVED it. However, I saw that it’s a private christian college and I was wondering if anyone who goes/went there can tell me what it would be like to go there as someone who isn’t at all? Like the only knowledge i have on religious unis is BYU (the mormon one) and from what i’ve seen it doesn’t appeal to me at all lol. I’m also queer but I figured it would be okay since it’s in Chicago?? Any info at all on the college would be much appreciated, thank you!!!!

I was hoping to have a relaxing nap on one of our finest concrete beaches this afternoon. But the second I found my spot I found myself swarmed by flies. I noticed other people around me swinging shirts and shoes around to fend them off.
Tried a few other beaches all the way up to Hollywood and everyone was complaining about them.

I even had an OFF! and a DEET spray with me but to no avail. Can anyone recommend anything that does work?

Calling the support doesn't do anything other than get you an appointment that you end u having to cancel once the internet inevitably comes back up, even though they claim there's no issues.

Is it just me who’s noticed an influx of Scientology booths at street festivals this year? Maybe they were there before and I just didn’t notice them.

They have red signs that read FREE STRESS TESTS with books from their founder Ron L. Hubbard. I took a quick look at one booth and didn’t see the word Scientology anywhere, but I didn’t stick around very long to see for sure because I didn’t want to give them any of my time.

I hope people realize this is a dangerous cult and steer clear.

In plain block lettering it said something like:

it was painted under the ledge of a bench that spanned a couple hundred feet or so, and it was there until the early to mid 2000s.
