I’m scheduled to get a CT scan next week and they gave me this contrast drink shake thing and i’m supposed to drink two full bottles of it.

i have a fear of throwing up and im worried the contrast is going to make me sick. i’ve never done this before so im freaking myself out.

has anyone had experience with having to drink contrast? will i be okay?

I don't normally go about looking at my eyes in mirrors, but one day I happened to be looking in a mirror and noticed that my eyes looked strange. I noted it, but didn't think much about it and went about living my life. One day the subject came up and I asked my girlfriend if she'd look at my eyes and tell me what color they were.

I laid down, she looked over me and gazed into my eyes. We had the following exchange:

*GF*: This one is gray around the outer rim. Aaaannd this one is.. uhh.. Well it's.. Now this one is.. uhh....[sits back] They're changing colors.

*Myself*: You're telling me my eyes are changing colors while you are looking at them?

*GF*: Yeah.

She made this wavy motion with her body to describe the motion of the colors she saw in my eyes. I believed she saw what she saw, but part of me thought perhaps it was an optical illusion of some kind. Weeks later, I believe, I used a vanity mirror with a magnifying mirror on one side to get a good look at one of my eyes myself and, sure enough, I saw what she saw.

At first my iris was more of a turqoise. Then the turqoise gradually faded to green as I watched. But it wasn't just green. The green area covered from the outer rim to maybe the mid section of the iris, between the inner rim and outer rim. From that point to roughly the inner rim my iris was yellow.

Although the green did not exactly fade into yellow, rather the two colors appeared as if two liquids. The yellow undulated against the green, waving around the mid section of my iris like a wave pool.

Directly around the iris is a brown area that seems more as if it were growing on top of the iris. This section appears to grow when my pupil dilates and shrink, turning into yellow, when the pupil constricts. It seems as though the brown section holds the melanin of my iris when the pupil dilates and releases it into the rest of the iris when the pupil constricts.

Additionally, the texture of my iris appears different than what I usually see in photographs and movies. Rather than an interweaving web of muscle fiber my iris appears more like a velvety elastic sheet. My girlfriend says it's like looking into a squid eye. Not that my eyes look literally like squid eyes, but she means they don't look human.

My girlfriend says there are more colors. For instance, she says, under certain conditions, my eyes turn to a "beautiful blue."

I have really good eyesight.

I am always ill with a virus/bacterial infection and it is literally ruining my life.
I am 20 years old I should be at the peak of my health but i am in constant physical pain and I feel systematically unwell every week. To be honest I genuinely haven’t felt healthy since 2023.

I don’t understand what is wrong with me or why this is happening to me, I eat healthy, I go to the gym regularly, I don’t smoke or drink and I wouldn’t say I’m stressed either. Yet for some reason I just keep taking hit after hit.

For the past 18 months I have been coming down with a viral illness every 6 weeks - fatigue, headache, body aches, stuffy nose, etc.
literally every 6 weeks like clockwork I would catch a virus.

Then for some reason my health just got worse and worse and about 6 months ago and I started getting serious bacterial throat infections, not strep but another bacterial infection that would not go away. I have been on 8 courses of antibiotics and had 3 hospital visits with iv antibiotics each time.

In between these bouts of tonsillitis I would also be catching colds and viruses, so much so that I would genuinely be coming down with a virus every 2 weeks.

As I am writing this I am coming down with something again and the pattern is the exact same, I get awful back of the head headaches, stuffy nose and nausea.

I have had countless FBC’s, vitamin tests , EBV/HIV and immunoglobulin tests which are all normal.

My GP says they can’t find anything wrong with me, but I literally don’t understand why this is happening to me.

It’s ruining my life, I cant go out because I get so ill whenever I do, I’m stuck inside due to awful body aches and headaches.
Im falling behind in class because I genuinely have 0 energy, I can sleep for 12 hours and still feel like I haven’t slept in days.
Genuinely sometimes I feel like ending it because I’m in physical pain all the time and my quality of life has completely diminished and I don’t know what to do anymore.
I am having a tonsillectomy next week which hopefully will stop the tonsillitis. But eveything else I don’t know to do about.

I also take probiotics, echinacea, vit C,vit D and all the other ‘immune supporting’ vitamins you can think of and yet nothing is helping.

If anyone has ANY suggestions on what to do next or if anyone has had a similar experience I would be so grateful for any advice.

TLDR- Get ill every 2 weeks, all my bloods are normal, I was hands all the time, sleep well, am a healthy individual but something is seriously wrong and idk what to do anymore.

About a year and a half ago, I had a brain tumor surgically removed. Before it was removed, it was putting pressure on my optic nerve and affecting my vision.
Current complaint:
I am having pain/pressure at the upper part of my nose, right between my eyes. It feels like a headache or pressure behind my eyes.
My eyes also hurt when I move them.
The symptom that concerns me the most is that when I look downward, I notice a loss/reduction of my peripheral vision.

Location of pain:
Between my eyes/upper bridge of my nose, with discomfort behind my eyes.
Other symptoms:
Pain when moving my eyes
Headache/pressure between my eyes
Peripheral vision seems reduced when looking downward
My left eye is worse than the other
I was advised that because of my previous brain tumor and optic nerve compression, these new vision symptoms may need urgent evaluation.
I am hesitant to go to the ER because I am worried about the cost, but I also do not want to ignore something that could affect my vision.
Does this combination of symptoms warrant an ER visit, especially given my previous optic nerve compression? Are there specific warning signs that would make this an immediate emergency?
I understand Reddit cannot diagnose me, but I would appreciate guidance on how urgently I should be evaluated.

Hello, I am Milly, and this is my story.
I am a woman in my 20s, and for the past four years of my life, I have been dealing with some of the worst health issues I have ever experienced. I have gone to multiple emergency rooms and specialists, but I’m getting ahead of myself.
What started all of this was pain in the lower-right quadrant of my abdomen. The pain was, and still is, so excruciating that sometimes I cannot even walk. I was also constantly vomiting, so I started going to the emergency room at one hospital. Let’s call that hospital Blue.
Every time I went to Blue, they would primarily check to see if my appendix was about to burst or if it was infected. That was never the case. Sadly, it took what felt like nearly 20 CT scans before it became clear that my appendix was not the problem.
I went to the Blue emergency room so many times for the same issue that multiple doctors eventually told me to my face that they thought it was all in my head and that I was crazy. The only good thing to come out of my experiences at Blue was that they were able to diagnose me with a chronic condition called interstitial cystitis, which causes inflammation and pain in my lower abdomen.
I went to Blue over and over again hoping that something would change, but all it caused was a lot of heartache, frustration, and crying because I wasn’t being listened to or believed.
Eventually, I decided to try a different hospital. Let’s call this one Green.
I went to Green because the pain had started getting worse. It wasn’t just in the lower-right side of my abdomen anymore; it had also moved to the upper-right side. I was still vomiting, and I had lost about seven pounds in three days.
When I went to the Green emergency room, things initially seemed great. They were helping me come up with steps for what to do next, but I still wasn’t getting any answers. Basically, all they would do was give me medication that didn’t help or control the pain. When I tried explaining that the medication wasn’t working, they would essentially shrug their shoulders and discharge me.
Blue had been doing the same thing, which was one of the reasons I had gone to Green in the first place. I desperately wanted a second opinion.
I also want to mention that all of my tests continued to come back normal, including my scans, bloodwork, and urine tests. The doctors at Green kept telling me that it was acid reflux, which, as you will find out later, it was not.
Eventually, I became so tired and frustrated that I realized I couldn’t keep relying on the hospitals in my area. That’s when I went to a third hospital. Let’s call this one Yellow.
As soon as I got to the Yellow emergency room and was brought into a room, they started asking me questions that no other doctors had ever asked me.
“What does the pain feel like?”
“Is it constant?”
“Is there anything that makes it better?”
“What have you tried at home? Has anything worked?”
Immediately, I opened up to them and explained everything. I told them that the pain was constant and stabbing and that I had been dealing with it for a long time. Nothing I had tried at home was helping. I had tried Tylenol, NSAIDs, and Zofran for the nausea, but nothing was giving me meaningful relief.
They did a scan, but instead of simply dismissing me and sending me home, they sent me home with medication to try to help control the pain. They also referred me to a general surgeon to have my gallbladder evaluated.
I saw the surgeon and had a HIDA scan done. My gallbladder had an ejection fraction of 90%, so they decided to move forward with surgery and removed my gallbladder.
For about four months after the surgery, everything was great. I had no major issues, and it felt like my life had finally taken a complete 180.
Then everything started going downhill again, and it happened fast.
I started having severe pain throughout the lower-right side of my abdomen again. I went back to the emergency room multiple times, and eventually they started admitting me because we could not get the pain under control at home. I was sobbing from the pain and could barely walk.
I ended up having two colonoscopies, and they found NSAID-induced ulcers. Eventually, those ulcers healed, and I was told to stop taking NSAIDs. I did.
Even after the ulcers healed, I was still having severe pain, so I continued going back to the Red hospital.
Eventually, they referred me to an OB/GYN clinic so I could have a diagnostic laparoscopy to determine whether I had endometriosis.
That surgery finally gave me another answer.
I was diagnosed with endometriosis. They found it in the tissue between my rectum and uterus.
I now have an IUD and am also using birth control. The pain in that area has become somewhat more controlled, although it is still bad. I am trying to accept that this may be something I have to continue dealing with, and I may eventually have to take further steps toward more invasive surgery.
But now I am dealing with something new.
I am having horrible pain in my upper-left abdomen, and I cannot get it under control with Tylenol or Zofran. The tests they have done for this so far have come back okay, but the pain is still there, and I am struggling to manage it.
After four years of being in pain, going to emergency rooms, seeing specialists, undergoing countless tests and procedures, being told that the pain was in my head, and repeatedly feeling like nobody believed me, I am exhausted.
I just want answers.
What should I do?

I was able to eat breakfast. But then I had a normal dinner. On Sunday, everything seemed fine. Today, Monday, I came back from swimming practice and I'm feeling nauseous. I drank coffee before the pool; it was my first workout this summer. I also felt a little nauseous before the pool (I get that from coffee). Now I'm afraid it's my liver, that it's not coping. My symptoms seem normal: no sharp pains in my liver, the color of my water is mocha, I haven't vomited a single time.

Please help me with some advice if this makes sense.

I’ve been feeling kind of sick for a few days now and my nose has been really runny, my chest kind of hurts every few minutes-hrs and out of nowhere while I’m trying to sleep my breath feels really short. It’s never felt short like this, and also only happened tonight while trying to sleep and not the other nights. Should I seek medical attention??

I’m female , 18 so basically whenever I eat food few spoons or bites I feel full or like puking but it feels like the food has not completely gone till my stomach but feels stuck in my esophagus or chest and my stomach still feels hungry but when I try eating I feel like nauseous again and the food not going completely inside this process just keeps on continuing and it’s been 2 weeks almost now I think I also haven’t been able to use the washroom properly idk if something is going on with my intestines or what?

I’m not on any specific medications or anything my stomach has been weak when I can’t adjust to new foods but it doesn’t get serious a few days and I’m fine but this time it’s not like I’m eating new or in any new environment either and I’ve always been a foodie asw I used to enjoy eating and trying out new stuff

I'd like to understand my brother's history of motion sickness from childhood to adulthood. My therapist has suggested that the pattern is unusual and there might have been psychological causes instead - eg anxiety, eating disorder. These are my experiences of his motion sickness:

* Happened when he was a child aged 8-12 and possibly a little older. Then it stopped completely without treatment/intervention. By his early 20s he owned a car and driving was his preferred mode of transportation. I don't recall if there was any motion sickness before he was c8.

* Happened in some cars, but not all cars. (As children we always sat in the back seat or in the boot). Didn't happen in buses - whether we sat at the front, back, downstairs or upstairs. Didn't happen in trains. Didn't happen in planes.

* Usually came on too quickly for him to signal that he was going to vomit, so he would vomit in the car (eg onto the floor or seats). If we stopped the car and got out, he could continue vomiting by the roadside though no longer in motion.

* Before going into cars, he would eat large meals even though he knew he had a history of motion sickness. He did not seem nervous or distressed about his motion sickness, and took no steps to try to reduce risk or request alternative arrangements.

* To the best of my knowledge, no medication or remedies were requested by my brother or provided to him. However at one point our parents got into the habit of giving all the children cough sweets or mints as we were travelling.

I've been struggling to breathe properly all day and I need advice or to know if this is normal since I don't think I've gotten a full 8 hours of consistent sleep. I can't find anything when trying to search it either

I come here at my wit's end - for context, I am a 19 y/o female who has been through several doctors over the past year due to menstrual problems, headaches, and fatigue. I previously was on Depoprovera for pain and nausea management during periods, but was switched to Norethindrone by my PCP. About 7 months ago, I started having periods that were multiple weeks long and very heavy, and would only stop for about five days before they would start again. I went to an OBGYN in the spring, who said that that was a normal side effect of Norethindrone, but drew labs to be sure and the labs came back fine. I was frustrated with this response, but let the problem stew.

In July, I went to Japan, and was still facing the menstrual problems as well as noticing that I was becoming nauseous very easily. One of my vacation mornings was ruined by a sudden bout of vomiting, which at the time I attributed to food poisoning and ignored. I saw another OBGYN that month, who switched me off of the Norethindrone as he blamed that birth control for my irregular cycles. He instead switched me to norethindrone-ethinyl estradiol. I had ultrasounds done as well which showed I had "prominent right adnexal vessels," as according to my PCP + consult, but the OBGYN dismissed this. I started taking that about two weeks ago, and have faced severe troubles ever since.

My cycles are still irregular, with the same heavy bleeding as well as nausea and cramps. Since last Tuesday, I have felt that I have some viral illness - I went to the doctor, and they tested for all of the usual suspects (COVID, RSV, Flu, Strep), and they all came back negative. It started w/ throat pain, and the following morning I vomited five times violently, w/ the first being bloody. I had chills as well as severe congestion. I went to a Doctor last Wednesday, and reported these symptoms, to be told I probably had gastritis and was given Omeprazole to control nausea. This pill has helped throughout, but it has not completely stopped the nausea. I was also told to take DayQuill to treat the sinus issues, but they come back well before I can take my next dose of DayQuill. From onset, my sinus issues have seemed to only get worse - even today, I have bad pain on the left side of my face and behind my eye, to the point it hurts to blink, due to sinus pressure.

I went back to the Doctor this Monday as I woke up at 3 am and had debilitating nausea + vomiting until 7 am. She prescribed promethazine + famotidine as she thought it may be a stomach acid issue. Labs were drawn, and everything came back normal except for low Ferritin (24.3 ng/ml). She prescribed iron supplements, which I rejected immediately since it caused me to have abdominal pain and black tarry stool. I saw her yesterday due to this + more vomiting and she told me to stop taking the iron supplements, but otherwise suggested no changes. She referred me to an OBGYN as she thinks I may be rejecting my birth control and that may be causing all of my current issues. I, however, feel to some extent I am getting run around without receiving real help and that it will still be months before I see full closure to any of this, so I come here asking for advice as it is truly affecting my quality of life.

I’m having trouble getting medical help with severe muscle cramps. It is not dehydration as I drink nearly two gallons a day of water. I take magnesium supplements as well as potassium supplements to no avail. In the middle of the night if I try to roll on my side or get up to go to the bathroom my theighs lock up. So bad I actually scream. Usually I cannot stand so I drop onto my knees. It is not confined to my theighs. My muscles above my stomach but below my chest lock up too. Sometimes theighs and abdomen together.
My doctor runs blood panels and yes I have cholesterol and triglyceride levels high. But obviously not a concern to them as they don’t refer me to any special treatment.
I’m at my wits end and worry about my heart being the next muscle affected. Anyone else have these symptoms?

I’m 21 i can’t drive and I live with mom and I’ve been sick as can be headaches,body aches,Diarrhea. My mom won’t take me to the doctor because she doesn’t want to and thinks it’s all just “Parasites” she keeps trying to make me take dewormer meds that’s for a horse called “ivermectin” and “finbindizol”. When i refuse to take it she gets pissed off at me!
