I hear Israelis a lot saying that Israel needs to have a Constitution, but not really specifying what provisions that Constitution would have in it. Do you think it should be structured similarly to the current Basic Laws, or do you see this as a chance to go in a different direction (such as regional representation, a bicameral legislature, anti-corruption provisions, and/or direct elections of the executive)? The big disadvantage of having a written Constitution is that it's hard to modify, so thinking about this stuff is important IMHO.

Hi everyone, I’m not Israeli, and I often browse various social media platforms, such as Twitter. I’ve noticed that anti-Israel and antisemitic rhetoric has become extremely, extremely common.

Some people have even started using this kind of content to justify the crimes committed by the Nazis and Nazis' genocide.

I’d like to ask what you all think about this. Does it make you feel unsafe?

Some people around me are already considering moving away from the city I live in because there have started to be incidents of crimes and attacks targeting Jewish people.

I used to be a left voter. mostly lapid. I liked his father very much. lapid has let me down (betrayal) when he said there should be a 2 state solution and joined with bennett. gantz joining bibi was also betrayal to me. nope uh uh.

right I wont vote because there are radical religious there. religion shouldnt be allowed in govt imo. especially when its the secular section that pays the most tax.

I see this time around there is fragmentation with those running and this is good. this is proof people arent approving of the current govt and feel they have chance for support when people want drastic changes.

there are MANY reasons I can list that makes me see the right will lose a significant amount of support. too many things that affected citizens harshly these few years. mostly people choose by how they were affected daily and their wallet and its not looking good.

im still not sure who to give my vote too. my brothers and parents are also unsure. they know what they DONT want. what are the better candidates who are not right or left who wont try to build a coaltion with the right?

also, why arent israeli citizenship holders not living in israel cant go to an embassy and vote?

Personally, as a greek, I love it. I'm a strong supporter of the opinion that every country must be armed very very heavily and use their weapons both for offence and defence, if the need arises. Also, I believe that countries with the correct values (i.e. the western ones) should be friends, and this deal is a step towards that. What do you guys think, though?

Just an etymology question

I'm non-Israeli resident, I've been studying for several years here and applied for residency through my wife which is citizen.

I'm going to finish soon my PhD in Applied Mathematics and have the intention to look for industry jobs in the country, however I'm concern that I have some "bad points" which are

1. Because I'm not Jewish I got no free Ulpan, and so far didn't have time to learn Hebrew to a professional level. I just have a ב or so. (Tho I'm of course fluent in academic English and native in Italian and Spanish, if that helps).
2. Tho my colleagues are all in Israeli Universities, I have no contacts at all in Industry, so I'm clueless where to start to look for even.
3. I'm 30 y/o, but since I've been studying science all the time since after high school (bachelors+master+PhD) I have no experience whatsoever outside academia.

The question is, I'd like to know what's the overall state of qualified industry jobs in Israel. (I've talked to people here and there and everybody says that companies and not hiring, alas, are even firing massively)

Any advices, thought, recommendations on how break into industry considering 1-3?

I live in the West among a community with a healthy Jewish population. A neighbour moved here from Israel more than a decade ago citing conflict in the region as a motivating factor. While they had the means to move, which I’m sure many don’t, I imagine there was a trade-off between safety from the conflict and the loss of self-determination that’s inherent to Jews in Israel and the definition of Zionism itself.

So yeah, is this something Israeli Jews would weigh when considering this move? How does self-determination currently affect your daily lives? What does it mean to you and how do you imagine the loss of it would affect you if you moved? What do you anticipate the alternative would be like? (FWIW it’s safe for Jews here. Antisemitism exists sadly, as everywhere, but there’s very little violence, zero deaths, attributed to it.) Thanks

Israeli Government support Azerbaijan but Israeli people support whom? Not trying to start any fight just curious as many Israelis have different views on this conflict.

I have noticed going in Israel some years ago and reading as much as i could about, Jewish history, that Israeli seems, and are , very strong

a) despite if centuries of persecutions and material hardness, let's think about the Yemeni Jews who lived ion extremely poor and devoid of food and water landscapes, the Jewish communities did continue to exist, in many cases overlasting the seculars institutions around, and in some places like Galicia they become the majority of the population . Every year in the town or villages, in spite of famines, wars, troubles of all sort, dozens of child were born, everyone learnt Hebrew and somene even Aramaic and they learnt, beside a job, the Torah and the commentaries

b) nowadays Israel has been at war since 1948 and every day a rocket, a bomb, a shooting incident happens. But Israel and Israelis seem imperturbable, life goes on, sons are conceived, business go on Hebrew is taught and learnt

c) in Israel young men and women seem healthier than in EU. Nearly every one, short, normal or tall, seems athletic, no one is overweight, no one has a hollow, spent gaze. Of course there are illnesses , too, but the people who is wealthy seems I do not wht to say, more alive than in EU

d) if you go to Europe , in a classroom, in an university, on a bus or a metro train, you will see the difference

Socioeconomics and cultural wise, I would be curious to know the general economic and cultural health of the Ethiopian jewish community. Understandably, a capricious shift from a rural-agrarian society to a developed society is bound to case culture shocks and might lead to socioeconomic difficulty. But is the socioeconomic gap between Ethiopian and the rest of the Jews closing? What is their educational acquisition? Cultural values? Do they experience systemic racism or anything to this effect that could sustain the gap(s)?

And intercultural, well, I am also curious to hear how they would fit in within the broader nation of Israel. Are they well socially integrated? Is racism common? Any intercultural tensions? Stereotype(s) targeting Ethiopian Jews? If so, what?

I have read a bit about the foundations of Kibbutz communities by Russian Jews influenced by socialist thinking and it is true that , when Marx wrote about religion as people's opiate, he thought about Protestant or Catholic Chrisrianity, but only becauseof they were the most immediate, daily, examples he could see. Marx, Engles and other thinkers never made, as far as I know, exceptions for Islam, or for Judaism

But the fiunder of the first Kibbutz were Jews wanting to preserve and streghten the Jewish identity, and such an identuty is above all religious
