We just got done watching a video about the 90s and different themed restaurants. Places like Rainforest Cafe, Fashion Cafe, Planet Hollywood, Medieval Times....Got us thinking is there anything like that in the Seattle area?

The only one I know that may fit the bill is Luna Cafe in West Seattle. That has a 50's vibe.

I realized recently that I really am happiest when I'm on a boat of some kind, whether it's a ferry, a whale watching craft, a kayak, etc. I'd love to incorporate more time on the water (literally any body of water but especially the Sound) into my current lifestyle and am looking for creative ways to do so. I'd love to hear your ideas!

Limitations: I work a 9-5 job in Seattle and while it has some flexibility to be remote, I do have to work standard hours. I don't have experience sailing or operating a large craft myself. I also don't have a high enough budget or the spare time right now for something like sailing lessons (although I'd love to do that someday!).

So far I'm thinking I'll try the peapod rentals at the Center for Wooden Boats and kayak rentals at Agua Verde, and try to find more reasons to be a walk-on ferry passenger on random days. What else should I try?

Important details forgot to add - I physically can't paddleboard (long story) and don't have means to transport my own kayak/board

Hi all. Moved to Capitol Hill about a year ago and have been loving it so far. I’m wondering if there’s any resources for people looking for band members or to join existing groups in need. Ive been in bands all my life and have recently been doing my own vocaloid project but ive been craving that collaborative in person connection again.

Mid 30s, Mainly a Bass player but I am capable with guitar. Experience in song writing, writing melodies and harmonies, gig experience, serving the song.

I know it’s the gayborhood, so everywhere is pretty gay lol, but I’m newish and curious about your favorite sapphic/lesbian/queer spaces in Cap Hill (besides the rose and rain city fit, which I love)!

Could be cafés, activities, bars, bookstores, shops, bonus points for places where the sporty/masc folks hang out 👀, spas, etc. Basically anywhere good for making more queer/sapphic friends~ or maybe even meeting a new lover 🥰

Hi legal folks - I am a liveaboard tenant at a marina in Seattle and I was given a notice to vacate based on some issues/concerns I brought up with management. It’s completely retaliatory and I have no place to go in such short notice. Wildly abusive on the part of the landlord. Ping me if you can offer any help, advice, suggestions, or guidance. I'm suggesting Mukilteo as a spot for my mom to move to. This place seems gorgeous, especially the Japanese gulch. But, she's quite sensitive to airplane noise. Other than that, this seems like the perfect place on paper. Will visit soon, but likely won't get the full day-to-day picture.

I know many posts say they've never noticed it; has anyone moved to Mukilteo from a different city and noticed a difference? Perhaps in intensity? I'm quite skeptical.

Also... any racism ? She's lovely, but she's not white. She's East Asian, and I'd hope she can make friends around the community garden! We're Canadian and I know some cities in Washington are less inclusive, but WA on the whole is quite progressive.

Just wondering if anyone knows any genuine donation sites for things likes clothes and stuffed animals. I usually donate to goodwill when getting rid of stuff, but I would prefer finding a place that's more community focused. The stuffed animals especially I have a lot of and some are in perfect condition, like squishmallows with the tags still attached. And since we will soon be in the fall season, any coats I decide to get rid of would probably be more beneficial to others than they are to me.

I'm planning a ~10 day trip somewhere for my birthday next month, and I'm thinking of visiting Seattle. Is ten days too long to spend there? Any recommendations on places to visit within a few hours' travel during this time? I'd like to travel the region a little, so I was thinking of potentially catching a train down to Portland or somewhere for a few days.

Looking for Chinese language schools for kids. The ones I've found have mostly been around traditional chinese / bopomofo (e.g. https://seattlechineseschool.org/), with one mentioning pinyin / simplified chinese (https://yucaichineseschool.org/).

But there isn't a ton of reviews about the options in Seattle, so wanted to get thoughts from the hivemind. My preference is towards pinyin-based, for what I learned wrt phonetics.

I’m 31 and moving to Seattle in 3 months.

I walked through fremont, ballard, and capital hill and really enjoyed how capital hill felt.

I walked through pike and pine and got the impression there were a few bars that seemed to cater to late 20s/early 30s and up and that it wasn’t all just early 20s party bars and that I’d find little nooks I’d enjoy as far as night life.

I loved the walkability of it as well, the apt I’m looking at would have a gym + grocery store + barbershop + other essentials just blocks away.

Its also the closest to my work office which is a big win for commute times.

Gimme your experiences living here, how do you like it and what should I keep in mind? Thanks all!

Where can I go that has a resurfacer at a reasonable price?

Another castle has one, but they charge $5 a disc (once upon a time it was $1), so that gets expensive quick.

I got into pottery when I was laid off, and I just have so much of it. I have taken a bunch to the little pottery library in Magnolia, but I was wondering about another option.

I’ll be visiting Seattle with my girlfriend for 4 days, and we’re planning to visit Pike Place, Mount Rainier, and do some shopping in Bellevue and downtown Seattle.

A few questions:

- What area of Seattle would you recommend staying in?

- How is the public transportation? Is it easy to get around without a car?

- Would you recommend renting a car just for our Mount Rainier day, or keeping one for the entire 4-day trip?
