Two Laptops. Both slightly broken. Replace a monitor hinge bracket, or do a keyboard lifting battery replacement?

Msi gs65Stealth has a monitor hinge that broke. I can still open and close it but who knows for how long and I gotta be real gentle with it. I also have an asus x550z that I can put a new battery in and itll be ready to go.

I want to get a laptop running again to do job apps and other stuff at cafes instead of always at home. The Asus I have to like lift the whole faceplate up to get to the battery from what i've seen its not as easy as replacing the battery that I did on the msi. But I already know a broken monitor hinge would also be a bitch to replace.

Basically one laptop gets saved, and the other gets its hard drive harvested for my desktop before being thrown away

I think specs for both models vary a bit, but the gs65 stealth seems to have a much higher minimum spec. A broken hinge is very easy to work around too, depending on the failure. A common janky fix for the upper part of the hinge breaking away from the actual lid is to just kinda drill through the shell in that area along with the hinge to put a screw through it and hold it in place. You just need to make sure you won't go through anything like a wire or other actual components.

I'm just looking for a cafe internet browser so I don't really care too much about the specs. I'll see if I can find any info on monitor hinge redneck fixes. The whole clip piece is gone now it was plastic and ripping it away made things work better than keeping it on
