Which Assyrian dialect should I learn?

Hello I come from switzerland and I speak German, I am very interested in the Assyrian history and culture so now I would like to learn sureth which dialect should I learn ? and what tools could I use?

Iraqi Koine, which is similar to the Urmian dialect (only that it lacks Farsi words). Why? Because Assyrian music is mostly sung in that dialect. It's our 'general' or 'standard' dialect. Tyari dialect is popular too, but it's our village or 'regional' dialect, similar to say Southern US English or Cockney English. When you want to learn English, you'd listen to Received Pronunciation. So in this case, you'd want to listen to singers like Linda George, Ashur Bet Sargis and Evin Agassi, who sing and speak in Iraqi Koine and Urmian Assyrian, respectively.

The Western Assyrian dialect (Turoyo) is sort of a different language. It is a Central Neo-Aramaic language (Assyrian Neo Aramaic is Northeastern Neo-Aramaic). Still, a very closely related variety to Assyrian Neo-Aramaic. If you're interested in Turoyo/Suroyo, you can look up that one too.

There's so many so the correct one is with whoever you're interacting with. Eastern dialects usually are the most intelligible, like Urmijnaya (Urmia). Nineveh plains is common here in Michigan (Tel Keppe, Alqosh, Zakho)
