Woke up to my grant email which was sent at 23:57 BST last night.

Applied on 2nd July

UK citizen, self employed, no medical assessment. Submit a complaint around 3 weeks ago.

Hey guys, quick question regarding the 482 processing updates on the Department website.

I’m trying to make sense of the current processing date listed for onshore non-priority applications:

"December 2025 - All other applications from applicants who were in Australia when they applied."

Does this mean there’s such a massive backlog that in September 2026 they are still clearing December 2025 lodgements?

I swear I saw it showing October 2025 not that long ago. For those who have been tracking this closely or recently got a decision, how fast is this date actually moving? Are they advancing roughly ~2 months of applications per calendar month, or does it move in random jumps?

I lodged my application onshore at the end of May 2026 (non-priority stream). Just trying to get a realistic idea or trend of when I might expect a case officer or a grant.

Hi everyone, looking for some guidance on VETASSESS for Management Consultant. Thanks in advance.

Background:

- BTech - Electronics & Communication Engineering degree from India.
- 12 years & 3 months of total work experience.
- First firm - ~21 months as a Business Analyst at a KPO (like Evalueserve, Moody’s etc)
- Second & current firm - Big 4; 10 years 5 months Strategy / Management Consulting.

Questions:

1. Since my degree is not directly related to management consulting, could VETASSESS deduct more than 2.5 years from my 10 years 5 months of relevant Big Four experience? My main concern is whether this could bring me below the 8-year experience threshold.
2. Should I also include my earlier KPO Business Analyst experience if some of the work was relevant, or is my Big Four experience sufficient?
3. Current firm would not issue a roles and responsibilities letter specifically for VETASSESS. However, I already have one on official letterhead that was issued for a Strategy and Leadership course and includes my detailed roles and responsibilities. Would this generally be accepted?
4. The firm also would not provide an org chart. Can I use a statutory declaration instead? If yes, is there any recommended format?

Would appreciate any advice, especially from anyone assessed as a Management Consultant with a non-business degree.

Citizenship: UK/Italian (applied as UK primary)

Industry: Finance

I filed a complaint 10 August, received a fairly generic response as a bat back on 24 August, so doubt this had any affect on my application, good or bad.

I just received a grant notification right now as i was scrolling reddit desperately for some hope , my gf waiting me since a month in Australia and i had to cancel flight and stuff and was waiting in south korea , didnt expect it would take that long but finally it came !

Has anyone from Brazil who applied for the Work and Holiday visa (subclass 462) been granted the visa without having completed the medical examinations before applying?

I submitted my application on July 2nd and had my medical examinations on July 7th, but I still haven’t received a decision yet.

My partner and I have just had a child and her parents are trying to come to australia and live on a more permanent basis, they have a visa that allows them to stay 8 months of the year i think. They have some control over her bank account and I recently found out they spent about 8k of the money we were saving for a home deposit for our childs future.

The mother and father both tried to move into my place with us, this happened once before and they spent all their money on gambling (pokies) and used my partners card for everyday expenses. The mother in law got very upset when i said no this time to staying with us.

They have told my partner to dump me and threatened to cut her off from the family who she loves very much, especially her neices. My partner has moved out to her aunties with my child.

I really feel this is abusive, my partner wasnt allowed to date men until 30. Her family has gotten aggressive since and this has happened with my mother in law before with her son and his partner. Their culture is one that extracts value from their children (no pensions there) and their retirement is funded by their children, and saying no is almost like im stealing from her in her view.

Theres a lot more to tell but my question is, is there any way i can get some help against these parents? Any advice? Would this behaivour cancel their visa?

I have held PR since September 2021. I lived in Australia full time from 2019 to 2025. I had to leave Australia in November 2025 due to sick parents and family issues.

My travel facility expires at the end of the month. I fully intend on returning to Aus. I still have my job in Australia.

I'm not well versed in RRVs - I didn't intend on having to do this. Do I simply apply for the RRV from overseas before my travel validity expires in a few weeks? Seems like I will hopefully receive another 5 year travel facility if so? And yes - I'll apply for my citizenship this time.

I completed my PTE Academic test in Perth, but it’s still showing under “Upcoming” in myPTE. I also haven’t received a completion email or my results yet.

During Speaking, I had a computer issue and staff moved me to another workstation so I could continue and finish the test.

The test centre gave me a case number for the incident, and I called Pearson the next day to follow up. The agent confirmed that the case had been received and acknowledged, but she wasn’t very helpful when I asked why my completed test was still showing under “Upcoming” in myPTE.

Has anyone experienced this before? If your test stayed under Upcoming, how long did it take to update and receive your results?

Also, if you had a technical issue or were moved to another computer, did everything still come through normally?

Especially interested in anyone who tested at Pearson Perth.

Risking bit all,Applied just 5 hours before my student visa expires,had medical within the year so don't go through it and just put previous hap id , police check was applied just 1 day before. First bridge visa came within 2 min then 485 .also very straightforward process unless you have dependents I guess

Applied for my 190 visa in June 2025 and just received an s56 request today. Looking for advice or similar experiences from anyone who has successfully navigated this!

1. AFP Police Certificate (Name Discrepancy)
The issue: DHA requested a new AFP check, stating my birth certificate shows I am "known by another name."
Context: In my home country, our legal passport name consists of a First Name and Last Name. We also have a separate Family/Tribe name (similar to Clan/Nation names in Australia), which appears on my birth certificate but is not part of my legal name, nor a name I am known by.
Questions:
1. If I accept DHA's assumption and list this as an alias/other name for a new AFP check, will that trigger a chain reaction requiring me to update all my other foreign clearance documents (like my Chinese Police Certificate)?
2. Alternatively, can I provide a formal explanation clarifying that this is a cultural family identifier, not a legal name or alias? Will DHA accept this explanation?

2. China Police Certificate (Short Tourist Visit)
The issue: I previously submitted a Chinese Police Clearance for 2015–2020 (when I lived in Beijing for my bachelor's degree). However, I visited Guangzhou for 10 days as a tourist in May 2026.
Context: I tried applying for a police certificate locally while in Guangzhou, but authorities declined to issue one because I was on a short-term tourist visa.
Question: How should I handle this with DHA? Will a statutory declaration/written explanation detailing that it was a short tourist visit and that local police do not issue certificates for tourists be accepted?
Would love to hear how others resolved similar s56 requests or if DHA accepted these explanations in your case. Thanks!

I have about a month and 4 days left on my current visa. I’m going to submit my application for a new visa within a day or two but I’ve seen that processing times are between 1-4 months for 50-90%.

What I’m wondering is what happens if for some reason like I didn’t put enough documentation or something my visa is refused and that decision arrives the day before my current visa expires or even on the day off my current visa expiry. What happens then?

I’m assuming the bridging visa I’ll get won’t be active if I receive a refusal prior to my current visa ending? Is my only choice to quickly apply for a review by midnight on the night?

Does anyone know what time of day Australian visa updates/openings usually happen?

I know nobody can predict the exact day when the visas will reopen, but I’m wondering if there’s a typical time window when these things are updated. I assume it’s unlikely that they would open at 11 PM or 4 AM Australian time. Do the immigration/visa teams generally work normal Australian business hours, meaning that updates are more likely to happen during those hours?

I’m just trying to get an idea of what hours are actually worth keeping an eye on, even if we have no idea what day it will happen.

Would really appreciate any insight from people who have seen previous visa reopenings. Thanks!

I wanted to know what extra document proofs do I need to attach in this application apart from what I had already given in my base 485 application? The documents section is pretty much the exact same as before but I read somewhere that I need to provide proof of living in a regional area for the past two years. Are my rental leases for the duration enough? Do I need to add WiFi bills for the duration too? And bank statement as well?

When it comes to proof of work I only worked as an online gig workers remotely from my residence in the regional area for a few months here and there. Is the resume that they asked in work history the only thing I need to attach or do I need other proof too? Like my tax return or something?

Agent seems hopeful of an invite and visa etc, targeting WA as we have family living there we wish to move to (citizens)

Anything to consider or that I should be aware of before committing money to the agent and visa?

Appreciate the current climate of visas is crazy and a lot of information up in the air, just trying to get some grounded advice from people with an understanding on wait times and if it’s worth it?
