My package was out for delivery this morning at 9 am and at 10 am I notice the status has changed to “Merchandise is missing”. I called UPS and she said it fell out of the truck. I’m sorry, what? I even asked her to provide me with the route the driver took so I could go drive it and see if I could find it and she said she couldn’t do that. Has this happened to anyone? It’s ridiculous
Yes, my wife had a "Merchandise is missing" I believe at the beginning of the year through UPS.
I'm not sure exactly what they told you, but they told her that the package was loaded on to a different truck because the driver was getting relieved or shift was over only to find out that the package never made it into the second truck. Package arrived about 2 days later, though so that was good.
So maybe it didn't "FALL" off the truck, but has just been misplaced. 🤞🏾
UPS drivers get pretty aggressively investigated for any kind of claims of theft or illegal activity, and the idea of them risking their extremely difficult-to-get and relatively high-paying job for that is super low. Much more likely they're telling you the truth. Sometimes they show up to the depot to find a truck that's packed like dogshit and have to choose whether to spend the time reorganizing it or risk damage/things moving around in order to get through their stops. I order and ship a lot of shit and over the years, particularly with UPS, I've learned it virtually always pays to just assume the driver is being super chill and treat them well. I've had some bend over backwards in pretty surprising ways to get me information UPS customer service claimed to not even have.
This happened to me with some computer parts. They showed up about a week later with a new label slapped over the previous label which must have got damaged. Box and stuff was fine though.
I’ve had UPS falsely report where something is. Not sure if it’s to meet quotas or what, but I’ve had a package go from “out for delivery” and then revert to another town 500 miles away later that day. Only to be delivered the next day or 2.
There’s something shady, not sure the motivation, but it’s happened 2 times to me.
Once I had a package delivered literally four months later. It was all flattened and banged up. I assume it fell in a crack somewhere and was later rediscovered!
