Should I / How to tell if my my cousin, an English Bloke, semi- pro soccer player, just finished Army basic training would enjoy seeing Maria Bamford in town. If not, but want to take him to a show, then..
Austin guy, new fan of Maria, cousin in town to visit, should I take him to see her this week at (newish location) comedy club, Cap City?
I’m wondering if he’s going to be so disinterested that it’s going to be annoying as his host, if I take him and hates it
Or an I overthinking it , he’s obviously not does not have to go and I can go solo, just wondering if it’s worth going to another local club and seeing someone in town. I don’t have many friends that are hip to the local scene here in town.
MODS, Please delete this post if not the right context 😂.

BOOKING Comedians That Can Work Clean
Hey Austin comics!
I’m booking for a new monthly Clean Comedy showcase at The Hive in South Austin. We’re launching on Thursday, September 3rd 6:30-8pm, and the show will run every first Thursday of the month.
Submit at:
Form at CleanComedyATX.com
Email: [nicholasc@cleancomedyatx.com](mailto:nicholasc@cleancomedyatx.com)
Include:
- Name
- Contact Information
- Clip of Performing (Clean/Video Preferred not Dirty/Audio better than nothing)
- Available September 3rd?
If you are not available for September 3rd the other dates are: October 1st, November 5th, and December 3rd.
This is an all-ages environment (kids will be in the outdoor space and may be in the audience). Though I'm not booking for a "kids show" or a "family show", this isn't the show to push the boundaries of edginess as there are plenty of shows for that.
The Guidelines:
- No cussing / curse words
- No sexual jokes, innuendo, or graphic content
- No material glorifying substance use or abuse
Show Details:
- Where: The Hive (South Austin) 10542 Menchaca Rd, Austin, TX 78748
- When: First Thursday of the Month - September 3rd (First Show) 6:30-8pm
- Set Lengths: 10-15 Minute Feature Spots (5-min Guest Spots, Longer and Compensated Headlining Sets, Production, and Other Opportunities Available)
- Compensation: $50 for Feature Sets
We are looking to expand to other areas of the city so if you have venues that would be interested in a clean comedy show, please reach out.
Note: "Clean comedy" for us is not a dog-whistle for "conservatism". This is not a group with a stance on what comedy should be. We are offering a different environment for people to experience comedy. Reach out if you want to be a part of that.
Excited to meet you all.

feature act Father Figures presents Left on Read
For two special summer performances, the troupe behind Love Trapped, Uncut, and Our House Rules invites you into the creative process as they develop brand-new sketches for their next original revue, premiering at Austin Sketch Fest this August.
You’ll still get Left on Read—their hit improvised show inspired by the texts you wish you’d sent, the ones you wish they’d answered, and every message that’s lived rent-free in your head for far too long. But throughout the night, Father Figures will also debut fresh sketches, new characters, and the comedy gems that could become audience favorites in their next show.
Featuring Ananya Roy, Josh Varelas, Logan Lasiter, Michel Nottebart, Sean Gubtosiand Syd Goin and introducing new cast members Kyle Irion and Martha Neil, this is your chance to catch Father Figures at their most playful, collaborative, and unpredictable.
See tomorrow’s favorite sketches before anyone else!
