Discussion What bird is waking me up?
5.45am every morning for the last few weeks I have been woken up by a bird that sounds like a squeaky trampoline bounce or a slow squeaky wheel. Squeaky in 5 or 6 squeak intervals and stops after first light. We're in Newcastle NSW in a busy street. Have tried to find the bird but have no clue. Would love help

Image A lovely surprise on my walk today - met this beautiful Tawny Frogmouth
Spotted this alert Tawny Frogmouth tucked away in the shaded undergrowth behind a fence line. With the sudden warm weather bringing out a huge burst of ground insects and lizards, he seemed very content watching for movements. He was completely unfazed by us as we admired from a respectful distance! (Upper North Shore, Sydney)

ID Request ID from birdsong duet in SA
Can someone identify a duet call that I hear in my suburban Adelaide garden. I canβt see the birds.
The pair call back and forth to each other with almost identical songs. It is a high pitched melodious whistle of one lower note followed by 3 piping higher notes. Iβd write it like this: β β’ β’ β’
