CSGA Level 1 Application

Random question but not sure where to post this – are any folks here part of the CSGA program, and might have tips or advice for me? I'm hoping to apply for the level 1 this year and looking for advice on specifically how to format the ski resume portion or any other tips you might have.

Cheers!

Not CSGA but I did get accepted into the Level 1 course but for other reasons did not end up doing the course. I just used the personal ski experience template from the ACMG.

awesome thanks, I did see this and download it but I wondered if the CSGA would be annoyed if I used the ACMG resume formatting tool :D

CSGA guide here, maybe an instructor, maybe not. Ha. Level one is an entry level course more focussed on teaching skills and preparing people with prerequisites for the start of their professional mountain career.

Format it in such a way that it makes sense for the reviewer. Do it by season/year first and then by region. Or all chronological. Treat it like a resume because that’s what it is at this point. You may not have professional experience so that’s what they go off. Another commenter mentioned the ACMG template. That’s a good start but don’t overthink it.

Feel free to reach out with questions. Been at it a long time.

Thanks so much—I really appreciate you taking the time to respond! I think I have adequate experience (15 years ski touring, Ops 1, 80-hour, and ~4 seasons working professionally in snow safety).

For the resume, should it be more of a quick-hits list, or should I include notable objectives day-by-day?

I’ve been going through my Strava activities from the last 10 years and wondering whether I should list every ski tour, even the more basic terrain, or focus on the more technical stuff.

Same goes for trips—would “Norway – March 2024” be enough, or should I list each day/objective separately?

I may DM you with a few more questions if that’s alright. Really appreciate it!
