Gas question

Is black soot normal around tack welds?
Also I’m getting spatter and bbs all of a sudden.
Welded fine previously same settings.
New tip and nozzle

Completely normal and more visible on clean metal

if you changed something in your setup. poke around with your gas flow settings to see if it goes back to your normal. Try changing back to the things that worked and see if it still happens.

What gas? Mild steel?

Bottom piece appears to be stainless steel? , but post is steel.
