I somehow doubt “While the cost of a $2,600 monthly payment is significant, it would be lower than the cost of existing social security supports spread out across multiple programs. ” the accuracy of this statement. The 2600/mo payment to all citizens is literally exact half of GDP for Canada. Canada is not spending half their GDP on social programs. In fact this UBI exceeds all Canadian government spending at all levels for 2024.

All this would do is raise of the cost of everything and make everyone impoverished. You can't just print up and give away free money with no consequences.
