New change: This subreddit is for both the art school and the band. Feel free to talk about both.

This subreddit now accommodates conversations about the band and the art school and related movements. It was originally for just the art school but many people got confused.

Such a classic, but what is your favourite bauhaus chair? mine must be the Freischwinger (S 32 / Cesca) – Marcel Breuer (1928)

Share one story of a Women at Bauhaus. I will start.

Gunta Stölzl - an amaizing textil designer and artist. Pioneered the transition from pictorial wall hangings to functional industrial textiles using synthetics .... geometric modern shapes, color combinations, her work is very inspiring to me. Most famous for her work and for being the only female Master at the Bauhaus. She brought alot of success into her department! She designed the iconic, vibrant textile upholstery for Marcel Breuer's famous slatted chairs.

To me it must be the lamp system from Walter Gropius Direktorenzimmer at the Bauhaus University - Weimar.

I think the Lamy 2000 pens are this in it's purest form. Heck, they even platin coated the 14k gold nib because they didn't want any bling bling.

And it polarizes just as much as Bauhaus design tends to do. Hated by many, loved by some.

Tel Aviv's White City in voxels — I recreate International Style buildings digitally, down to the stairwell thermometer windows (In Minecraft)

Tel Aviv's White City holds some 4,000 International Style buildings, mostly 1930s, designed largely by European-trained architects who brought modernist principles with them and then had to adapt them to a Mediterranean climate — deep recessed balconies instead of large glass surfaces, brise-soleil elements, raised pilotis for airflow, and the vertical 'thermometer' stairwell windows you can see on this facade, reconstructed digitally at sub-block resolution: the balcony parapets, the roller shutters (a later but now-iconic layer of these buildings' life), and the proportions are matched from the real structure. It's part of a long-term project to reconstruct the neighborhood fabric, not just individual landmarks — these buildings work as an ensemble, which is exactly why UNESCO listed the White City in 2003. Happy to discuss the process or the architecture.
