What's causing the magnetism to stay in those objects? Why doesn't it just fly away?

Terbium Gallium Garnet, or TGG, is a clear crystal that works like a steering wheel for light. Normally, light travels straight through it, but when you add a magnetic field, the crystal makes the light twist*. This makes TGG a translucent material that changes how light moves based on the magnetic field it is exposed to. Because it reacts to the magnetic field, it can control the light, which is why it is used in special tools to stop light from reflecting backward.

Not only that but the rotational angle of the magnetism is amplified under this perspective from the crystal due to the polarity within the crystal. When you have two opposing forces, one magnetic and the other non-magnetic you can achieve alignment within the volar forces and that's why we get the really cool kaleidoscope effect you see here.
When you have the white light bending from the magnetism it creates just enough energy to be visible with the human eye through a refractive index. This technology is currently being used and is being processed to help us understand dark matter (which in space is still such a mysterious topic for astrophysicists) and they're on the verge of a breakthrough in terms of mathematically proving the multiverse theory.
Basically anybody with a background in science will read this and completely understand I'm simply bullshitting here and have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about.

The shadow is the visual result of the polarized light angles, but those angles are being controlled by the magnetic field.
The magnetic field acts as the instruction. It tells the light, "rotate by this many degrees." If the magnetic field is strong, the light rotates a lot. If the magnetic field is weak or absent, the light does not rotate at all.
The polarizers then act as the judge. They look at the angle of the light and decide if it can pass through. When you see a shadow, it means the magnetic field did not rotate the light enough to satisfy the second polarizer, so the light was blocked.
In short, the magnetic field changes the light's angle, and the polarized filters turn those different angles into the shadows and highlights you see.

So the magnetic field affects light? Does it repel, attract, both, or something different? If the objects in the video were not magnets but the same shape we would not see that pattern?

No i don't mean the crystal. Like light picks a direction and goes. The thing which caused the light will eventually fizzle out. Just like that, the thing causing the magnetism just keeps causing it. The magnetism doesn't go anywhere and based on what we saw in the crystal it seems to just loop back on itself.
If light and magnets are 2 sides of the same coin, what makes them different. Why does magnetism stays home and light goes out and fucks random strangers?

Why are there even field lines, obvious visible lines at a clear spacing that are human viewable like some textbook diagram? As opposed to much finer or more uniform at some atomic level.
It seems too convenient, It’s like the universe is trying to show us how magnets work.

I'm guessing the defined line have to do with the wavelength of the light illuminating this disc things. Different wavelengths of light affected differently by the magnet might show a different pattern of lines.
I honestly have no idea, but this makes sense in my mind. I'm willing to be corrected by someone who knows more than me, though.

I would agree, except we see these same human scale diagram-style lines when we spread iron filings on a piece of paper and put a magnet underneath. The spacing is real not an optical artifact.
I am going to assume (until a physicist who can’t stand people being wrong on the internet comes and does an ELI5) that it’s like a harmonic subdivision of the overall dimension of the magnetic field, so presumably a tiny or weak magnet would have closer lines and say the Sun would have ones hundreds or thousands of miles apart?
A bit like guitar strings vibrating or those sand on a speaker doohickies forming peaks and troughs due to harmonic resonance.

It has to do with the grain size of whatever is lining up along the magnetic lines and the field strength. Stronger field means denser lines. Whatever aligns to the magnetic field becomes magnetized as well, so they repel each other some. Finer particles can form tighter packed lines (basically because more lines of particles can "fit" in one space). The field itself has infinite resolution (unless there's a lower limit at the subatomic scale, but I think that's more of a limit to what we can measure/observe.
Essentially, the lines are at a viewable distance because we're using materials that are the same scale as what our eyes are evolved to see.

Someone said he’s using a ferrofluid, maybe it’s just how it responds to that, we aren’t truly seeing the magnetic field, we’re seeing maybe a rudimentary structure of it by allowing it to move ferrofluid?

Quick question for non-electrical engineers: Do you think magnetic fields are actually "made" of distinct lines like shown here or often seen in diagrams, with little or no field between them?
I suspect this is a common misunderstanding of the magnetic field. And the fact that ferrofluids or iron powder just make lines visible because of a different effect, just reinforce the wrong idea that the field only exists along those lines. Asking because I thought it was like that before I studied.
