I think specifically: you can’t let go of the racket and you can’t touch the net
It’s like the Harlem Globetrotters of tennis, at least for one point.

I don't think so. I believe they made the rule because someone (Jimmy Connor i think) threw his racquet high in the air once and somehow managed to hit the ball and win the point. They changed the rule after that
That's what I was told. I could be completely wrong, but the people who told me that knew his tennis rules.

I had no idea but searching Jimmy Connor Racquet Throw returned a clip.

I agree with that comment, rule shouldn’t have been changed. Seeing people chucking their racket in an attempt to save out of reach shots would make tennis a bit more interesting. Especially if they accidentally over throw their rackets and end up hitting people in the audience

The sportsmanship here is awesome. This reminds me of when I was playing a high stakes hand of poker heads up against someone and I had milked them into an all in call against me before the river. Dude had literally 1 out and hit it and we immediately both stood up and dapped each other up because damn, even to just be a part of something that crazy, even when you lose, is awesome. Big respect to making the play and for the opposing player giving respect back.

it doesn't count if you throw your racket anyway, that's against the rules

Those poker coolers are so crazy. I've been on both sides of them and you gotta smile and take the situation with some grace, win or lose. That's the game.

This is so wholesome haha remember that you'll rarely have more in common with your competitor than most anyone else.

He'd been waiting all day to do that. It was just for fun, but his opponent seemed to appreciate the joke.
