It's called Anna by the Window, and was made by myself and a few other friends from New Paltz. My co-director and I will be there for a post-show Q&A. I'm very thankful that the Beacon is giving a small indie film made by Hudson Valley filmmakers this opportunity! Hope to see you there. Tix Here - Monday, Sept 14th at 8pm
Anyone happen to know which trains are honking at 3-4am in the mornings? We are thinking of moving closer to the river and are wondering if that is coming from the Hudson rail or there is some other rail system. It sounds like it is off in the distance but I'm a light sleeper and it still wakes me up.
Hi - I commute once a week via Metro North and usually park in Poughkeepsie but I need to be in Beacon for something next week and wanted to do the train from Beacon for a day. How hard is it to park at commuting hours?
I won a splitboard in a raffle (a snowboard that splits in half lengthwise so you can skin up backcountry and then snowboard down) and I'm wondering if anyone knows places to do that around the area?
A guy said try Mt Beacon but I'm not sure where he meant, and I'd worry the Casino trail or reservoir road are full of winter hikers.
I've been vegetarian most of my life and want to start cooking more meat (especially chicken) and fish for my family. Since I'm not in the habit of buying/preparing meat, I find myself getting overwhelmed trying to figure out what to buy and where.
I'd be really grateful for any tips on specific brands/cuts of chicken, turkey, beef and fish you like to buy and at which local stores. Even better if you want to share how you prepare it! I don't mind spending a bit extra for hormone-free/organic options. I usually shop at Aldi, Adams, Walmart, Key Food and Beacon Natural, but always happy to check out a different store. Thank you for any help!
Someone hit my car last Friday (August 21) morning at around 8:20am. I was on 9D waiting at the light in the left lane right before the overpass to turn left onto the Newburgh beacon bridge. The car behind decided to speed around me I guess, and hit the back right side of my car and then drove off. Their car was a white sedan (I didn’t get the make, maybe a Nissan or Honda early ~2010s). My car is a black Volvo XC60 — pretty much new.
I know this is a long shot, but did anyone witness this? I called the police but they basically told me to call my insurance and wouldn’t let me file a police report. There were a lot of cars lined up at the time, so maybe it isn’t outside the realm of possibility that someone saw what happened. Anyway, appreciate any help. Thanks.
I’m into weight lifting and I am looking for recommendations for the best gym in the area, please. I hit the gym early in the morning, lift weights, and do some cardio after. Which gym would you recommend?
Considering a move in Beacon in the next few months, and wondering what the situation is, in terms of healthcare? Are there local doctors and specialists, or do people find themselves traveling, when needed (either elsewhere in HV or to the city.) Also, are there decent hospitals in the area or nearby, if a need arose? Thanks!
