Sounds like it got backordered. When you do a verification check the order doesn’t go thru to the store till you finish that check. So any inventory sold from when you ordered till after your verification could have been sold. Not much a manager can do unless you reselect the model.

I've had a few things shipped, purchased online at BB, I have never received any of it as promised. Always delayed a day or two.
