Locked Posts?
Just wondering why some of the recent posts about construction in the BB are getting locked within a matter of hours? Maybe I’m missing something?

They are also being taken down in another subs that are relevant, like National Parks and Environmentalism

Could be that the mods don't want the sub to turn too political. Or it could be that Reddit decided "they know what's good for 'em". Either way, ew about the wall and ew about the locking.

What is "political" about calling out criminals who are violating the LAWS we have in place to protect wilderness, and especially National Parks, like Big Bend National Park? IMHO, "NO POLITICS" is just a cudgle used to silence opposing views, and it's worked on me. I'll just STFU again now, and go cry on my bulldozed land. bye

Probably not any connection, but Reddit is owned by Condé Nast Publications, which seems to have a recent history of bending to the pressures of the current political climate…

Hi, mod here.
I’m 100% against the wall. In fact, I’ve posted quite a few of the posts in question. The issue is that people can’t play nice, and I’m having to respond to and remove dozens of reported comments that are personal attacks, political bullshit, or calls for violence. In fact, I’ve even been threatened and have seen Reddit begin to filter some of the comments at the admin level that trigger their harassment or violence filters. So when a thread starts to go off the rails, I have neither the time or bandwidth to keep policing each little argument or shitty response. When that happens, I delete what I can but the thread ultimately gets locked because that’s the only way to get it to stop. I’m kinda the only active mod around here and my toolbox is limited. The Automod is already working overtime.
I’d love for the conversations to stay civil and productive so that it didn’t have to be this way, but the half dozen or so bans that I’ve already handed out don’t seem to be a deterrent.
I have no issue with these threads, as long as people would stop violating Reddit TOS rules. The last thing I want is for our sub to get suspended or taken over. And I’m sure as fuck done with all the pro-wall, anti immigrant trolls that keep popping up. It’s like I’m playing whack-a-mole.
