My first ever bike build!

Months of research and buying parts (the Elves Falath Evo+ frame took three months to be built and delivered), days of building and hours of painstaking fine tuning later... I am the proud owner of an aero road bike! Not to mention far more knowledgeable on how these things work.

It was a challenge for sure, with moments of utter frustration and even despair... most notably when I realised I'd forgotten to put the cable dampening foam in before finishing the routing, then noticing when turning the handlebar sharply left shifted the front derailleur up... But I found a way to solve those problems and got there in the end.

The custom 'paint job' is raw carbon too, it's hard to tell from the photos but it looks so cool up close and shaves a few grams. Weight (without pedals) is an unspectacular but respectable 7.9kg - I'd basically have to invest in even lighter wheels to get that down, but that's an upgrade for another day!

Conversion kit thoughts

I have recently been thinking about getting an ebike or something of the sort, and there’s so much stuff to decide between it’s kinda hard. I think a conversion kit might be the best deal for me, because I like pedaling and i kinda just want electric to have it. I probably wouldn’t have to fully rely on it, but it just seems like something good to have. I have a Giant ATX (i forgot what size) and I came here to ask if anybody knows if there’s a good conversion kit I could get for it. My budget is probably like below 1100 total. I don’t know the wheel size at the moment (if it even matters) but I’ll get it when i can if somebody needs to know, I can also get a picture of it

Yeah, well this is my Condor Fratello.

The build goes:

R8000 groupset, 165 mm cranks, 11-34/50-34

Wheelset - Tune tsr 35mm with red hubs and nipples.

Micheline Power cups 30 mm

Thomson seat post elite with 0 setback.

Thomson elite x4 stem, 90 mm, 0 angle

Deda superzero rs alu handlebars, 38

Ergon sr all road core pro men saddle.

I'm still figuring out the steerer length - I'll probably go 1-1.5 cm lower.

Plus the saddle has been raised as an update.

Looking for Guidance - Litespeed/Mavic 1x Conversion

Hey all, looking for some help on what I need to get this converted. Any guidance would be much appreciated.

- Have a 2005 Litespeed Teramo with Mavic Ksyrium Elites (unsure of the year)

- Currently have a Ultegra 2x 10speed set up

- Looking to convert this to SRAM Apex 1x 11-42 mechanical set up

2 Questions:

  1. Do I need a new freehub body for the Apex 11 speed? I previously had a new pair of DT Swiss splines that needed an XDR (with 1 spacer) to fit an Apex 11sp on another bike (but I dont think the Splines came with a freehub at all)
  2. Would I need a new bottom bracket if I'm swapping out the cranks and chain ring? Currently have FSA Gossamer I'm looking to swap out for Apex Cranks and 40t Chain ring

Thanks!

XDR 10t assessment

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi all, need some advice before converting HG 11s 11t >> XDR 12s 10t.
Seen people having issues with frame clearance for the smallest cog, can't quite wrap my head around the exact reason for that. Sram says XDR is occupying the same space as Shimano HG, but looking at the photos of "10t rubbing" I can't imagine how they were not having this same issue with 11t, unless it was sitting more inward.

Right now I'm running 11-46 11s Sunshine HG cassette, looking for swapping for Sram 10-44 12s XDR. Does this dropout/chainstay design look like it'd accommodate that?

Thanks!

this is my bike i got a cool frame but this fork hasn't original parts i think trek rigid fork

all good but one thing is different color so..
should i re-painting fork ?

I was thinking about repainting this fork black, but I'm not sure if it's worth the time and effort, so I'm stuck. I'm wondering if having mismatched colors can just be seen as a unique style.

Wanting to build my first actual bicycle.

Closest thing I’ve done was convert a Kent bayside into a 2 stroke motorbike, can’t really take that on a cycling trail though.

I got my eyes on a Schwinn Continental frame that I want to build up on for that trail. I’m thinking a 3 speed setup, probably using shimano components, some 27 inch skinny rims and tires, and a leather saddle. The goal is a simple and reliable road bike with some classic looks.

Edit: no I’m not putting any kind of motorization on the Continental gas or electric, just want this to be a pedal bike
