boxer and what else?
hi yall! we're a "boxer family" (we love all dogs but boxers have stolen our hearts) and my dad adopted this pup about 6 months ago. at the shelter she was listed as a "boxer mix". you can def see the boxer, but what else do you think? at first i thought maybe pit but she is SO BIG. according to the shelter shes only 2.5-3yrs old. she's like 85lbs already. i'm kinda thinking a mastiff mix? maybe even cane corso?

lol she really is! anytime i come over she starts "shrimping" she's like, "big sis is home!! i'm so excited!!!" i love the butt wiggles and shrimping so much!

We got our boxer as a rescue pup and were told she was a pitbull mix. She turned out to be a beautiful brindle boxer. She ALWAYS shrimps and butt wiggles when I come home. Another boxer thing she does is enthusiastically dig up rocks and bring them in the house.

my dad gets mad at the digging lol! our girl is definitely a digger too... one of those boxer traits you just gotta live with😅 my grandma even had to block off her flower garden because the baby was getting into it lol

The coloring is pure Boxer but the head in a couple of pics looks a little Rottweiler?

i agree! she could pass as full boxer but there's something about her head and size that makes me wonder. someone else also said rotti too in this thread! i kinda agree. both dogs are huge but have crazy sweet personalities, which she displays

Looks very similar to my guy. Did the test and it said Boxer Lab and I believe American Bulldog. Something like 70 20 10

I definitely could see that. I've looked at photos of both mixes and my dog (Scooby) looks similar to both but not enough to be exactly that mix.

That’s a lot of solid boxer, if there is anything else it is something in the boxer background lineage like a bully breed.

Only see boxer. I currently have a pit with “some” boxer genes, but also had a boxer mix before that had some rando pit genes. Weirdly, the first who was mostly boxer was the BEST DOG EVER. He was incredible. He looked straight to your eyes and saylid with his whole being “what do you want me to do? I want to do that THING, the thing you want”. Also currently I have a boxer who’s grown (4) who’s coming in over 100 lbs. he’s ENORMOUS. I met his parents and he surpassed both of them long ago. I can stand straight up and put my fingers in his back. Huge. Great dog, but a LOT of dog. That was long winded to say a boxer mix is usually a well tempered dog; goofy and friendly like a boxer, but guardian like the mix.

that's the thing! maybe she is all boxer (doubt it tho, she's a shelter baby) bc that's allllll her personality is. she's a boxer thru and thru when it comes to personality lol. but she's just huge and probably gonna gain a little more weight as she gets older. i didn't even realize boxers could get to 100lbs! that's cool to know. it's crazy how boxers can be pocket sized or the most muscular machines you've ever seen lol

To me… boxer and more boxer. Maybe mastiff, a couple pictures I could see that. Definitely not corso- at least I don’t see it.
It could also just be a poorly bred boxer.
Regardless- beautiful doggo.

yeah... when we got her she was like 2.5 yrs according to the shelter, they also told us she had a litter before (she's fixed now) so i don't doubt she was used for backyard breeding... she also has anxiety too. like we have to give her meds, but they help. she's such a sweet girl i don't understand how people can just dump dogs when they become "useless" to them

I work in a rescue and I am the dog mom to 4 pit mixes and two puppymill survivor mamas.
I see mastiff, if anything.

thank you♥️ it's definitely something about her head shape and body that makes me think she's got something else in her. i was thinking mastiff for awhile.

Looks just like my derp! I’m curious as well as to what the mix is but I guessed Boxer+American bulldog.

I had a bullmastiff mix who looked a lot like him! I was just going to ask how big he is until I read the description. My vote is bullmastiff.

I’d guess mastiff but she really does just look like primarily a boxer! What a cutie! That first pic is classic boxer 🤣🤣

Im guessing a bull mastiff (not old English mastiff), as she looks full boxer other than being an absolute unit.

u/LagMaster420 2d ago
she's actually so big i don't think pictures do her justice lol. like i could take her to war. she is a TANK
2
u/Equal_Plankton_4234 2d ago
I can tell just by the skull. Bullmastiffs are sweethearts too usually so a good mix. Anyways thats what id guess. They do have a DNA test for dogs that is pretty accurate
1
u/LagMaster420 2d ago
yeah it's her skull that makes me think there's more in there! it's so big lol. and the coloration around her eyes, nose/mouth too. we might get a dna test, but i was curious about what others think. i definitely see mastiff too!! but i've never owned one so i'm not sure.

Looks like Boxer and Rottweiler. Had boxers all my life. Our best dogs were mixed or non akc. Love them to bunches!

Not a care in the world and full of whimsy. Personal favorite picture is the third one, that smile is perfect.

I’d be surprised if she’s a mix. She looks pretty much Boxer to me. My last Boxer ( purebred) weighed 85lbs at 2 years old) my current guy is around 60lbs so there’s a range.

u/Aromatic-Rule-5679 2d ago
I’m going to guess mastiff if anything. My guy is only 50% boxer according to the dna test but he is all boxer personality. I think rottie mixes tend to be more dominant in the genes, unless yours is a true mutt.

u/LagMaster420 2d ago
yeah! she's just so big and her head-shape... she's all boxer in personality but her head makes me think "what else is in there?" lol

I lost my boxer mix a month ago . He was best buddy miss him so much.

u/LagMaster420 2d ago
i'm so sorry for your loss. i lost my "soul dog" boxer over 5 years ago, and i still think about her all the time. i still cry sometimes too. i got told grief is like a ball in a box with a target, the target might get smaller over time, but every now and then the ball hits that target, and it hurts. sending you all my love♥️

u/zeus1784 2d ago
Thank you we had him for 13 years . The whole family misses him being here . Sorry for your loss it’s sad they can’t be here as long as we are . They are truly gifts .

She’s pure boxer. I don’t know if this is a thing? But I am told there are European breeds of boxers that get huge? I had a white boxer that looked like a monster English bull dog, 120 pounds. I have a black male now who is 96 pounds. My brindle female is only 60 pounds full grown.

I’m thinking it’s gotta be another bully breed. She looks like a boxer for sure but I don’t see much else. First two pictures are 100% goofy boxer.
