I'm from India, currently in my final year of highschool (PCM stream), and I'm looking at international destinations to pursue my undergraduate degree. One of the most interesting countries that stands out for me is Czechia (along with Italy and Japan, well that's based on my personal requirements and not really useful here). I've been researching these 2 universities (CTU prague and BUT Brno), and as much as I was in love with the idea of CTU, the more I researched, the more my mind kept changing. I have a few questions I'd like to ask, which can be subjective, and forgive me for asking something simple/non sensical, since I'm just a teen trying to figure out a completely unknown country. And btw the course I'd be most likely applying for is Mechanical engineering.

TLDR- Im asking questions regarding BUT vs CTU for the mechanical engineering bachelor's course (in english), considering student life, academics, and everything else. Also i have questions regarding Brno as a city, and how does it compare to Prague in reality, specially for an international teenager

1) I assume both universities require the SCIO maths in english test for admission, but what are some differences (if any) between the admission process?

2) Regarding academics and reputation, CTU obviously is more prestigious than BUT, and holds a considerably higher ranking. However, from a few reddit posts I realised that CTU isn't as good as it sounds, people were talking about extremely rigorous academics, very high academic pressure , and even "kicking students out of the program". Also the mechanical engineering program in particular being not so popular internationally, having outdated classes, faculty who are not good at english, poor material etc. and I'd really like to know how much of it is true? And is BUT any better or is it the same case there?

As any other student I would like to explore the country , actually enjoy my time at University, and not be constantly worried about having my degree taken away from me. If anyone could help me with this (comparing the 2 universities in terms of academics) personally then please reach out, otherwise I'll take whatever help I can from the comments.

3) regarding the city, Prague is obviously the "dream location" for many people, including me, seems like a great city as seen online, while Brno seems much quieter and less touristy. As someone from India, always being surrounded by huge population, as much as I want to say Id like a quiet town, I'm pretty sure it would get kinda boring, anyways id like to know if Brno is actually a decent city to live in, and is it comparable to Prague or not? Is it developed, or developing, or a more traditional kind of town? And all sorts of generic questions you would get regarding Prague vs Brno which if I were to type, no one would read this message

Chtěl bych začít v Brně chodit někam na jógu. Ovšem když říkám jógu, nemyslím tím nějaké poskakování a protahování alá zumba a aerobik měli rande, ale opravdovou jógu, vedenou tím divným esoterickým lektorem, co se vám po lekci bude snažit prodat plazmový generátor a pyramidu štěstí; jógu, kde se v pozicích setrvává dlouho a je to spojené více s nějakým meditativním přesahem (spát u toho ale taky nechci, žádná jóga pro těhotné).

Na škole jsem takto chodil na jógu a z lektorů toto kritérium splňoval tak jeden, ostatní z toho dělali aerobik, což nechci.

Měl by někdo doporučení na něco takového?

Nesázejme stromy. Nezalévejme je. Nechme brněnskou zeleň v klidu odejít. Je to vlastně docela racionální reakce na systém, který vzrostlé stromy opakovaně kácí, nové nechává živořit a po každém selhání oznámí, že to jinak nešlo…

neviete o nejakom podniku, kde radi vysielajú snooker, ak sa práve nejaký hrá a vysiela (väčšinou na Eurošporte)? Rád by som si občas pozrel nejakých pár frejmov a dal k tomu drink.

Čauvec, zajímá mě, zda někdo má zkušenosti s O2 jakožto práce na ičo, na obchodních pozicích, mám v plánu pro o2 pracovat, ale mám informace, které se moc neshodují, máte nějaký info? Diky

Máte zkušenosti s tímto oborem? Vypadá velmi praktický. Čisté IT nechci a tohle vidím jako alternativu oproti humanitním oborům, pokud si netroufám na VUT.
