Looking for some information or insight on adding teens to your car insurance.

My husband and I have three cars, a financed 08 Highlander with comprehensive coverage, a paid off 2013 Sorento with liability only, and a paid off 2017 Camry with liability only. We are insured through USAA for home and auto and pay about $280 per month for just the two adults auto insurance for all three cars. The adults are 35 and 37.

Our 16 year old (girl) just got her license and my husband added her to our policy this morning. Our new rate is $687 per month… an increase of over $400 per month for just adding a 16 year to the policy. USAA also will not change the rates if we only insure her on one vehicle, the price was the same if we added her only to the Sorento and excluded her from the other two cars, versus if we added her to all three cars. She will only be driving the Sorento.

Is this typical? I knew it wasn’t going to be cheap, but I was expecting about $200-250 per month to just add her to the Sorento, not over $400 per month with no price difference for which cars she’s insured on. What are you paying for your kids car insurance? This isn’t sustainable long term for us.

Boulder is having its first local filmmakers showcase next week! 🎬

In collaboration with the Boulder County Film Commission, we are starting a monthly “Local Lens” short film showcase to create a space for all the Front Range filmmakers to screen their work, meet other creatives in the community, and talk about the process behind making their films.

The theme of the showcase next week is New Beginnings and will include a short film from Boulder-based adventurer and filmmaker Ryan Van Duzer.

Every movie will be followed by a brief Q&A with the filmmaker.

We are looking for two new players! We are semi competitive but have a lot of fun and laugh a lot. Bonus points if you’re a setter! Reach out if you’re interested!!

This is not a “job posting” I’m genuinely asking the community for help. I work with a medium sized exterior restoration and remodeling company in the area, and our existing handyman/estimator recently handled a couple of jobs particularly poorly, in terms of customer communication and attitude, so we’re ending that relationship. We need to find a new partner asap. We have a lot of work in the hopper.

We need someone of integrity, able to handle bidding a variety of exterior projects, as well as bidding AND execution on smaller jobs, or jobs outside our wheelhouse. I’ll give you the basic requirements for what I need and see if any of y’all have suggestions or referrals for me:

-fluent English
-positive attitude
-reliable
-on site bidding
-don’t need license or insurance as we carry them, but it sure helps you stand out as a candidate
-Trades: Fences, Decks, minor low voltage electrical work, landscaping, awnings/pergolas, masonry, general exterior repairs, drywall, finishing work, minor plumbing repairs, punch list
-contract work- not hourly

The main thing we need is someone who can confidently go out and bid projects of low to moderate complexity, and collaborate with our project manager to produce a bid we can stand by, at the first visit to the home, not the next day or this evening. Something like “let me head out to the truck for a few minutes to crunch some numbers, I’ll ring the doorbell when I’m all finished, and we can go over some options for you”

While the bidding will include all exterior trades, we’d only need our new man to actually execute on a fraction of the projects. Generally the smaller jobs, and only within the trades I listed above. We have crews for all the big stuff.

Pay is negotiable but commitment to reliability, accountability , and customer service is not.

Has anyone ever broken their lease and managed to do so without a fee around here? I’m sick of my apartment/management and trying to find renter’s rights to get out of it asap

28, F moving to Denver. Work will be in Louisville so looking for a place with limited driving. So far I have two options:
1. North Westminster: Tensing, Flatiron Ranch, Skyview apartments etc.
2. Superior / Broomfield (interlocken): Bell Flatiron and surrounding place.

#1 offers a one bedroom in budget but is ~25 mins drive. #2 is closer to work but offers only a studio in budget.

Apartment from commute distance, which location / apartment community is recommended considering safety, quality of life, etc?

Hi all — I'm moving back to the area (CU grad, returning for work) and weighing a few older, budget-friendly apartment communities in Broomfield. The price is right on all of them, but I'd rather hear from actual residents than trust the leasing pitch. If you've lived at (or near) any of these, I'd love your honest experience:

• Garden Center Apartments
• Royal Village
• Sandalwood
• Flatirons Park
• Courtyard Apts

Things I'm especially curious about:

• Management & maintenance — responsive, or do requests disappear? Any deposit-return horror stories?
• The buildings are older — how are they on heat/AC, water pressure, noise between units, and pests?
• Rent increases at renewal — did they stay reasonable, or jump hard after year one?
• Parking — is the lot actually adequate, or a nightly fight for a spot?
• Safety and general vibe of the area/complex, especially at night
• Anything you wish you'd known before signing

Hello! I've been working on a bunch of CORA and CCJRA requests around the Boulder County area the last couple months. Broomfield, Boulder, and Boulder county have all been especially withholding of information.

I was able to get Broomfield's Flock Safety Contracts, which was signed last November for 10 cameras, and a list of their currently installed cameras.

As you can see from the second image, it only lists two out of 10, when asked about this the records technicians response was "Out of the 10 planned Flock camera installations, only 5 have been completed, with 2 currently operational." Sounds like a good use of tax dollars to me.

Broomfield does have a decently high number of private installations, such as at the Interlocken business park on the North side of the airport.

I heard a lot of schools are looking at closing in the area due to low enrollment, but I am very confused by this information... is the education budget getting cut? Are taxes being cut? I don't understand why schools would be closed for low enrollment as long as the tax money is still coming in and the budgets are the same. Someone at the meeting I went to said it's because it costs more to keep a school open when there's not enough students... How? If school was a for-profit venture this would make sense, but as a non-profit, government-run establishment that's essentially a utility for communities, it's not making sense to me.

And closing schools is kind of a hard decision to unwind if families start moving here, so is the expectation that the underlying problem (affordability) is not going to be addressed? Is the state/district/dept of education giving up?
