I usually use the back 2 nature small animal bedding for my buns, but it’s frequently out of stock on Amazon and in the shops. There’s so many mixed reviews on other litters and I’m paranoid with trying something new incase it irritates either of my buns respiratory tracts. They’re both aged 5/6+ so I’m very careful with changing their usual products.
What litter do you all use? Any recommendations would be much appreciated please. Thank you in advance!
I also use eco straw for years and have liked it, but I do worry a little bit now that my 10 y/o has sore hocks, since they are quite hard. We are trialling paper.
I am not sure if you are familiar with Lorelei and her late bunny Lennon from YouTube (she has a lot of videos about rabbit care etc.) but she sells some bunny items on Amazon - in particular a litter box and a litter box grate that are really nice. I bought the grate separately for my current litter box and the top is so smooth and the holes are the perfect size to allow poop to go through to the litter underneath and no sore hocks for my bun.
Since my bunny is free-roam, I just use natural paper bedding for his litter box. I tried the paper pellets in the past, but I think they might be too hard for bunny feet bc mine didn’t use his litter box at all. The paper bedding is basically the same thing just fluffy and softer. Easier to find too.
I use the horse pine pellets litter from tractor supply & co. I have a litter box which has a plastic grate in the middle and I add some of the pine pellets under it
I’ve used Back 2 Nature for over 10 years and I like it. It’s a little more expensive so I’d definitely look into it. They used to be grey recycled litter but now it’s white and the quality isn’t as good.
I changed out Back2Nature for BioCatlet (found in pet shop and stores like B&M) I order it on Amazon either 2 x 12L bags for around £12 or 3 x 12L for around £15 (don’t always have that offer). I put Carefresh Paper Bedding on top as its gentler on their feet. Both these are very low dust as I was having issues with other bedding (Megazoarb) causing my lop to sneeze! He’s been absolutely fine now I’ve switched xx
