Every time you change someone’s mind it adds an unexpected and random personality trait

Finally an actually good drawback to a power that isnt just some stupid "you die LOL" comment

Omnipotence plus can’t get ball cancer

Chose: Choose any superpower you want + You have to claim it in the comments, the highest upvoted reply under your comment is the downside

255

u/MuseBlessed Jul 26 '26

The consequence of your omnipotence is that it is too easy. Even limitations you self impose never quite feel right. The world begins to feel less real. The summoning of the sweetest wine is to you as it is to imagine for a homeless person. Nothing satisfies, because nothing can ever again be earned, because all resistance is merely an illusion.

The distinction between your will and reality blurs each time you use your power, until there is naught a "you" left to command the world; only the instinctual law of existence that once was "you", as the world blurs into your visage.

You have infinite power but your brain can't keep up, so whenever you try to use the power you feel extreme nausea and blackout. If you plan it well you can still probably do something cool before collapsing

3

u/1nt3rn4l_d4m4g3 Jul 26 '26

You are unable to tell whether any of your changes to anything actually took place (and you can't just deactivate this one, since you never know if you actually did it)

Karma balances with interest. If you lower the chances of your child getting cancer, you increase another's. You don't want your mother getting into a plane that will spontaneously fall from the sky? Ouch, did you cause the unrelated plane crash on the other side of the country? You get rich from gambling as you push others careening into debt.

Eventually, to abstain feels reckless while betting is malicious.

Will you stop personal harm by creating an objectively worse world, or will you become as distant as a person can, unwilling to pay the price to save those you love.

21

u/Str4ng1r Jul 26 '26

Wouldn’t it be possible to make like a death bed prisoner like incredibly unlucky and increase the global population’s luck?

3

u/1000100010101000010 Jul 27 '26

Directly? No. All he knows is that by doubling this person's chance to stub their toe, it reduces someone else's chances to a third. Who knows who that other person is.

How many shifts until you aren't you, for what will you risk your love, your passion, your mental fortitude, your perception of the color green?

How much of you do you need to be you, for when is theseus not himself?
