With the choice to fight you have a chance of saving yourself but the children dying. With giving your life, it's 100% you die and 100% the children stay safe no matter what

I don't believe they would spare the children after I was gone. I'm not going to pretend people who ask for your life with children as hostages are honorable people who would keep their word.
