Looking to connect with carbon credit buyers in China / Hong Kong

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to connect with people or companies in China, Hong Kong, or elsewhere in Asia who are currently interested in purchasing carbon credits from Oceania countries.

I’m particularly interested in speaking with:

  • Companies purchasing credits for their own requirements
  • Carbon traders
  • Brokers/intermediaries
  • Businesses looking for longer-term supply
  • Anyone currently involved in the Asian carbon market

At this stage, I’m mainly looking to understand the market and connect with genuine buyers.

If you’re involved in carbon trading or purchasing in China/Hong Kong and have an interest in carbon credits, feel free to DM me. Happy to have a conversation and see whether there’s a potential fit.

Thanks.

SEO pricing in Singapore is fairly public now, GEO pricing basically isn't — here's what I've pieced together

Someone asked me about this last week and I realised the answer splits into two halves, one of which I can actually back up and one I can't, so figured I'd write it out.

SEO side there's decent public data. Singapore retainers land roughly between S$800 and S$5,000 a month, and the SME band that keeps coming up across different agency guides is S$1,500 to S$3,000. One-off audits somewhere in the S$800 to S$3,500 zone, hourly consulting around S$100 to S$250. Local service businesses tend to sit lower, ecommerce and B2B higher, competitive lead gen higher still.

The thing I'd want anyone to understand before comparing quotes: a S$500 retainer and a S$5,000 retainer aren't the same thing priced differently, they're genuinely different services. Below about S$800 you can't really fund content and technical work and links at the same time, so something gets dropped, and usually what you get is tool output dressed up as a report.

GEO is where it gets murky. There isn't a public benchmark yet, the service is too new and nobody's settled on how to price it. So if someone tells you the market rate for GEO, they're quoting a number that doesn't exist. I'd be sceptical of confident pricing claims here for another while yet.

What I can say is the cost logic. It's a layer on SEO rather than a replacement. The overlapping bits are content quality, technical health, site structure, general accessibility — if you're already doing SEO none of that is new spend. What's actually additional is content shaped to get quoted rather than ranked (question-answer structure, direct factual statements — marketing prose ranks okay but doesn't get cited), building mentions on third party sources models pull from, and monitoring. That last one is the sneaky cost because there's no mature tracker, so it's people manually querying across platforms and phrasings and logging what comes back. That time adds up.

Practical upshot: if you're doing neither yet, scoping both together tends to be cheaper than doing SEO and then bolting GEO on later, because the foundation is shared.

Also, for anyone in SG, PSG can offset part of the SEO side if your provider is an approved vendor. Worth asking, plenty of people don't.

And the frame I find more useful than chasing market averages — what's one new customer actually worth to you. If lifetime value is five grand then two grand a month breaks even at one customer. That maths tells you more than any pricing guide.

Anyone here been quoted for GEO specifically? Genuinely curious what numbers are floating around because I've not seen enough to know if there's a pattern forming.

How do you do an agreement with a Chinese supplier to protect your product?

Hello,

I want to buy products from a Chinese supplier for a long time.

My question is, if my product starts selling very well on Amazon with my own brand and trademark, how can I stop the supplier from copying my product or selling it to other people?

How do you make an agreement with the supplier for this? What agreement do you use?

Thank you.

I made this for Chinese sellers. They keep ignoring me. What’s wrong with it?

I need some honest feedback from people who sell from China.

I work with product content for Russian marketplaces, and I keep seeing the same thing: good products, competitive prices — but product listings with poor images, awkward Russian, unclear benefits, or designs that simply don’t look trustworthy to a local customer.

So I made this presentation to show what I mean and how these listings could be improved.

But here’s the problem: Chinese manufacturers and sellers mostly ignore my messages.

And I’m genuinely trying to understand why.

Am I solving a problem sellers don’t actually care about?

Do Chinese sellers not see product images/localization as something that has a meaningful impact on sales?

Is the presentation itself bad?

Or am I simply approaching the wrong people?

I’ve attached a few slides. Tell me what I’m missing. I can take criticism )

Beginner’s Guide to China’s E-Commerce Platforms (Taobao, JD, Pinduoduo & more)

China has **the largest e-commerce market** in the world, with a super diverse ecosystem. Whether you’re a casual shopper, reseller, or just curious about how people in China shop, understanding the major platforms makes a HUGE difference.

Here’s a simple, practical breakdown of the main platforms and what they’re best for 👇
(No ranking, just different use cases)

🛒 **1. Alibaba ecosystem: Taobao, Tmall, 1688, Xianyu**

🧡 **Taobao (C2C)**

• The largest marketplace in China
• Anyone can sell → massive variety (like eBay + Amazon combined)
• Supports international phone numbers ✅
• Best for: cheap finds, niche items, everyday shopping

👉 Think of it as an endless online bazaar

🏬 **Tmall (B2C)**

• Brand-owned or authorized stores
• Higher quality control, better customer service
• 800M+ users, 150k+ brands
• Uses Taobao account ✅

👉 Best for: authentic brands, reliability > price

📦 **1688** **(B2B)**

• Direct from factories / suppliers
• Bulk buying + customization
• Uses Taobao account ✅

👉 Best for:

• Small business owners
• Resellers
• People sourcing products cheaply

⚠️ Quality can vary — you need to vet suppliers

♻ **Xianyu (C2C**)

• China’s biggest secondhand marketplace
• Launched by Alibaba in 2014
• App-based (full features unlocked on mobile)

👉 Best for:

• Used items
• Great deals
• Hidden gems

⚠️ Anyone can sell → be careful with scams

🚚 **2.** **JD.com (JD)**

• Known for fast, reliable logistics
• Same-day / next-day delivery in China
• Strong quality control

👉 Key concept: “JD self-operated”

• Products shipped directly by JD warehouses
• More consistent service vs third-party sellers

👉 Best for:

• Electronics
• Appliances
• People who value speed + reliability

👥 **3** .**Pinduoduo**

• Social + group-buying model
• Huge discounts if you buy with others

👉 Why it’s popular:

• Share deals via social apps
• Limited-time offers
• Rewards for participation

👉 Best for:

• Ultra-low prices
• Bulk/group buying

📌 Fun fact: Its global version is Temu

💬 **4. Weidian**

• Built around WeChat ecosystem
• Anyone can open a store for free

👉 Relies heavily on:

• Social sharing
• Private groups
• Direct customer relationships

👉 Best for:

• Small sellers
• Niche communities
• Social-driven shopping

💄 **5. Xiaohongshu (RED)**

• Mix of Instagram + shopping
• Users post reviews, hauls, lifestyle content

👉 Shopping flow:
Discover → Trust → Buy

👉 Best for:

• Beauty
• Fashion
• Lifestyle inspiration

🏷️ **6. Vipshop**

• “Online outlet” model
• Flash sales + brand discounts

👉 Known for:

• Big sales events
• Up to 50%+ off major brands

⚠️ Requires Chinese mainland phone number ❌

🎥 **7. Douyin (TikTok China)**

• Short videos + livestream shopping

👉 Sellers use:

• Influencers
• Live demos
• Algorithm-driven recommendations

👉 Best for:

• Impulse buys
• Trending products
• Fashion / beauty / food

📚**8.Dangdang**

• Started as a bookstore
• Classic B2C model

👉 Best for:

• Books
• Educational materials

⚠️ Requires Chinese phone number ❌

📖 **9. Kongfz**

• Largest marketplace for:
• Used books
• Rare / out-of-print books

👉 Best for:

• Collectors
• Academic materials
• Hard-to-find titles

📌 **Final** **thoughts**

China’s e-commerce scene isn’t just “one Amazon equivalent” — it’s a whole ecosystem, where each platform plays a different role:

• 🛍️ Variety → Taobao
• 🏬 Quality → Tmall / JD
• 💰 Cheap deals → Pinduoduo
• 📦 Wholesale → 1688
• 💬 Social selling → Weidian / Xiaohongshu
• 🎥 Content-driven shopping → Douyin

👉 Once you understand where to shop, the experience becomes WAY more fun (and cheaper)

If you’ve tried shopping from China, which platform do you use the most?
Or what’s been the hardest part to figure out? 👀

Anyone here running a sourcing business? Looking for advice

I recently launched my own sourcing company. I already have the website, business email, Instagram, etc. set up.
I’m not currently based in China, but long-term, I’d love to move there and be on the ground to grow the business and have better access to suppliers.
I’ve done some sourcing in the past, so I’m not completely new to the process. I also already have one potential client who is looking for a specific type of product (someone from my personal network). However, I obviously need to find more clients if I want to turn this into a real business.
For those of you who have started or are currently running a sourcing business:
● How did you acquire your first clients?
● What strategies actually worked for you?
● What should I absolutely do — and what should I avoid?
● Any mistakes you made early on that I should learn from?
● Any tips for finding clients when you’re not physically based in China?
I’d really appreciate hearing from people who have actually done this, especially if you started from scratch.
Thanks in advance

Besoin d'aide

- 📍 une adresse ou un quartier où ils sont regroupés ;

- 📞 un contact WhatsApp ;

- 🏪 une boutique ou un dépôt chinois qui vend en gros ;
