This is what my cats eyes look like on a daily basis, I’ve gone to the vet 3 times they don’t know what it is and it goes away at the end of the night then comes back in the morning. I’m baffled and need all the help I can get I can’t have my little girl in pain. She’s a 10 month old girl cat

Seems like they did as it keeps swapping eyes and goes away at the end of every day but they might not have, I’ll be taking her to the hospital later today
You should check reviews too while taking your cat to the vet, mine had an eye irritation last week
He keep rubbing it and rubbing it and making it worse so morning I took him asap since he couldn’t open his eye, first they put some staining to see if there’s any thing in it and none which made me feel better, and I been applying eye ointment, he can open his eye wide now but still squint and tiny bit of redness luckily no discharge anymore maybe abit of tear stains that’s it >.< last day of eye ointment so I’m hoping it will improve but yeah I always check it reviews to see if it’s at least 4.5 star plus out of 5
Try clean wet and warm towel every 2/3 hours just wipe gently ( however i recommend find a good professional to look at it )
Mine cat had eye infection too, took about 5 days to fully recover after using eye drops my vet prescribed.
I hope she gets to feeling better soon.. I don't have any recommendations, I just had to stop and comment because she is truly a glorious black inky slinky! We had a baby boy named smudge who unfortunately passed away before I got my cat that I have now due to kitten fading syndrome... Smudge was such a good boy. We are looking to get a couple new kittens around Christmas time and an all black cat is on the list of requirements for at least one of them! Anyways, hope that she's feeling better and again, she's BEAUTIFUL!
Since it keeps coming back every morning, I’d really push for a second opinion or a veterinary ophthalmologist because recurring eye problems are worth taking seriously, and I hope your little girl gets answers soon.
If my cat feels hes not getting enough attention or its been days since letting him outside he will start rubbing his eye and pretend somethings wrong so I will pay more attention to him. He sometimes rubs it hard enough that it is irritated for a while. So possibility its behavioral because they want something theyre not getting
Herpes flare up? I use Moxifloxacin eye drops for my cat's eye infection when he has flare ups.
He hasn't had any since the last 5 day course with 2 drops, twice a day dosing, thankfully, and now he's on hypoallergenic cat food, and I've switched to a less dusty, better clumping cat litter (trying to rule out if the litter dust was causing it).
Are there any cleaning chemicals, wax melts, air fresheners, or febreze being used during the day? She could very well be allergic to something you are using around the house and once that goes away she gets better.
Think about things that you use around the house and also things that you use on your body. Hairspray, deodorant, perfumes or colognes, foot powders, lotions.
I almost wonder if she just keeps getting something in one or the other of her eyes and she's swiping at it with her paw and irritating it, and then it goes better by the end of the day? I think when you take her to the hospital later, make sure to stress that it switches eyes.
Another thing to look at; when this happens are you guys leaving your windows open by chance? Or is it worse when you leave windows open? I wonder if it's allergies. I have a cat that gets a goopy eye on his allergies flare up, and it can be one or the other eye. But it doesn't usually switch when he's having a flare up it just stays as one or sometimes info. I give him ketotifin eye drops twice a day when that happens and it usually makes it better.
Also echoing what another user said about a feline herpes. One of our other cats had that and his eyes would randomly flare up and go back down.
Whatever the vet comes up with, if they suggest a long-term steroid, be very careful with that. Steroids really damage their health in a lot of other ways and I wouldn't use those endless absolutely necessary and nothing else works. What we used for our cat that had herpes but also allergies was atopica, we use the dog formulation in the correct weight range so that he could have a pill instead of the liquid that is so hard on their stomach and makes them barf if you don't get food into them within 30 seconds.
From what our vets have said, most cats have feline herpes but never show symptoms. Steroids suppress the immune system which then leads to the feline herpes flaring up more often, so cyclosporine (the active ingredient in atopica) works better in that regard.
atopica is expensive, but once you get flare-ups under control you don't have to use it daily. It's actually better to back them off and go with what they call the least effective dose, so you wean them off. We have a cat that gets it daily for a couple weeks when his allergies flare up, then I back him off and he ends up being on it once a week for a month or two by the end and then we take him off it completely until he has another flare up of allergies.
If it's not allergies and it's just feeling herpes, then they have other immune suppressants that are a bit less destructive than steroids.
Wow thank u for the info the vet prescribed steroid but I wasn’t supposed to get them til tomorrow so knowing this new info I’ll be sure to do some research into wether it would make sense for her
Pollen counts can actually sometimes be higher up that high, also dust and smoke particles. But also, pollen gets brought in on our clothes and hair from outside.
Honestly, she could be allergic to any foreign substance, it could be something she sleeps on at night, weed smoke or cigarette smoke from neighbors, VOC from paint or adhesive, car exhaust, really just anything and you may not even be able to identify it or prevent it.
A different vet really is your best option, especially one who will at least do the bare minimum and stain her eye to look for abrasions.
I suggest adding L-Lysine supplement( for cats). It’s an immunity booster I used it when my one cats, at the suggestion of my vet. I cannot touch this cat, she’s too skittish, and she cannot be trick into taking meds. My other cat had an eye infection, it appeared to be contagious as my skittish cat started squinting. After adding the beef flavored L-Lysine her eyes looked normal in 3 days, without goopy eye meds or fighting her.
If the vet sees nothing wrong it could just be irritation, but an immune supplement can’t hurt.
Surprising that in three vet visits they didn't rule out a potential blocked tear duct. The fact that it resolves itself later in the day points to that very distinct possibility. Perhaps it's time for a second opinion from a different clinic?
