Searching for a good CD printer...

Hello r/CDs! I have been thinking of making my own custom CDs as a hobby. What kind of CD printer would you guys recommend?

I got a epson xp7100 for 35$ last week on marketplace. Just dont update the firmware because third party ink wont work. Very good so far

I used to have a Canon (forget the model) that printed on inkjet CDs. It was awesome. Too bad they don't make it anymore.

I have a big commercial disc printer that I’ve not used in years. If you’re in the uk you’re welcome to have it !

CD printers and printable media are no longer made. I have to scour thrift stores for lightscribe discs or pay ridiculous prices on Ebay.

I bought an Epson XP890 specifically for this purpose. It prints super nice it can also print photo paper and handle paper up to 11*17

You must mean a CDr or CD-rw optical drive because you don’t print CDs.

There are CDs where the label side is inkjet printable.

I think OP means that yes. Ever heard of LightScribe? That’s a quite uncommon technology to make custum DVDs without a CD printer.

I’m sitting on two LightScribe burners and about 100 blank discs. I burn mixes for my nephew who isn’t yet allowed to have a phone.

Nice. I have a couple of LightScribe DVDs and one PC disc drive that supports it but I have yet to use it, as it only has EIDE and not SATA, so I can’t use it with my computer!

I prefer inkjet on cd, light scribe as a weird powdery finish and it doesnt look that good

Sadly Lightscribe is a dead format. Or at least it originally died a bunch of years ago when discs stopped being produced. The inkjet printable discs can have color which is something unavailable with Lightscribe technology.
