I’d love to hear the logic behind only taking votes until Thursday before games start and then posting those results after the weekends games. It’s literally designed to make the fans look dumb.

Options:

  • Malicious compliance with a handed-down directive for a fan poll. They get to say look how bad these results are and discontinue it.
  • Bad fan polls make the real poll look better.
  • Based on how often the real poll is late and/or contains errors, it is possible this poll needs additional time so that it can be tabulated by hand.

I think they just dont care enough about it to worry about getting it out before the games. No one is paying attention to a fan poll

> designed to make the fans look dumb

Tennessee fans would be mad if they could read this.

Tennessee: Home of Dolly's Imagination Library

Missouri: Home of defunding Dolly's Imagination Library

Showing off those reading skills replying to a James Madison flair

This is so fucking funny lol

If Tennessee fans could read, they'd get their clapback right. JMU is in Virginia.

If you want to get into the nitty gritty of conservative legislation I’m not sure Tennessee would come out looking great either. Let’s stick to football in a football subreddit.

But RIP Dolly

Dog you started this

Yeah it was a mindless joke dude lol. Nobody made you respond about Missouri politics lol. It’s not that deep just downvote me and keep scrolling.

Maybe you shouldn’t be trash talking on the internet if you’re gonna cry stick to football after getting the slightest bit of heat back lol. Its all in good fun

1

u/cooterdick Tennessee • North Carolina 11h ago

Is it though? You seem to not be handling it well

Buddy it’s a stupid joke I made based on an internet meme relax. It didn’t require a response at all

The biggest assholes I’ve ever met in life have been Tennessee fans and I am irrationally applying that hatred towards the entire fanbase as one does.

I'm a fan of this. I hate a whole fucking color because of Tennessee and Texas, so....this works for me.

u/NotStreamerNinja Alabama Crimson Tide • Team Chaos 7h ago

Would you say that they're "low down?" Perhaps, "dirty?" Maybe even "some snitches?"

2

u/saharashooter Tennessee • Pittsburgh 14h ago

Tennessee ranks ahead of Virginia on national literacy scores.

2

u/RedHand1917 Oklahoma • Cooper Union 13h ago

Since the statistic is English literacy, I'd bet a substantial part of Virginia's gap is immigrants, many of whom would be quite literate in their native languages but are still working on English.

3

u/philleferg Arkansas Razorbacks • Oklahoma Sooners 7h ago

I gotta be honest. We both have OU Flairs, and I double it with an Arkansas. We should sit this one out.

-4

u/midnight-architect7 James Madison Dukes 14h ago

Cool story but I’m not from Virginia. You’re not hurting my feelings by insulting people in rural Virginia.

But either way that’s a stupid comment considering Virginia ranks high on the education front.

1

u/saharashooter Tennessee • Pittsburgh 12h ago

You threw out a random stray at Tennessee and are surprised someone from Tennessee responded?

-1

u/midnight-architect7 James Madison Dukes 12h ago

I quoted one of the most popular dumb memes ever and this bro is pulling out literacy rates about a state I’m not from. It was just kind of a random reply that wasn’t even logical. I always laugh at people that can’t fathom the idea of people not living in the same state their entire life.

I welcome good insults but that one didnt even apply to me.

1

u/saharashooter Tennessee • Pittsburgh 11h ago

You care about this a lot more than I do.

-1

u/midnight-architect7 James Madison Dukes 11h ago

Why did you respond then

15

u/Jonny_Peverell BYU Cougars 15h ago

Yeah I see no reason to participate. It's a trap like you said

8

u/SucculentCrablegMeal Florida State Seminoles • USF Bulls 15h ago

What?? That makes zero sense to do. Why would it not be the same timeline as the actual voters so that they can compare the voters to the fans?

Cool idea, but wasting it like this.

0

u/remymang 14h ago

So how do you think FSU will finish this season after that outing? NMSU could be a low key good team by the end of the year.

1

u/SucculentCrablegMeal Florida State Seminoles • USF Bulls 14h ago

No idea, I was on a trip and didn't get to watch any of it. Others don't seem optimistic though.

1

u/Billquisha Florida State • NC State 13h ago

According to my calculations, if they continue with their current pattern (1 win, no losses), FSU will be undefeated. You can't argue with the math

6

u/ChaseTheFalcon West Georgia • /r/CFB Poll Veteran 15h ago

Obviously we are because we aren't cool journalists who don't watch games at all!

3

u/AliveFood4296 Ohio State Buckeyes 14h ago

Next you’ll be telling me they do polls before the season even starts and we can see the teams!!

2

u/BeTheBall- Sacramento State Hornets 13h ago

They don't even need a poll to do that.

1

u/HideNZeke Iowa Hawkeyes • Arizona State Sun Devils 12h ago

Tbf that's kind of funny and maybe the fans deserve it a little bit

1

u/ExternalTangents Florida Gators • /r/CFB Poll Veteran 11h ago

5) Battery-operated Handheld

6) Analog Handheld

7) The One the Shit Hits

u/neovenator250 LSU Tigers • Tulane Green Wave 14h ago

Big Ass Fans deserves their own category and to be ranked

2

u/philleferg Arkansas Razorbacks • Oklahoma Sooners 7h ago

I thought that was covered in 1) Industrial? Or is there a subtle difference?

3

u/neovenator250 LSU Tigers • Tulane Green Wave 7h ago

Yeah, that's fair. I mostly just wanted to talk about them because of the name

2

u/philleferg Arkansas Razorbacks • Oklahoma Sooners 7h ago

Fair enough!

15

u/unsubpolitics Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 14h ago

What about Only?

3

u/StreetofChimes LSU Tigers 14h ago

I really like those neck fans. I would rank them at 5 instead of hand held.

I also like exhaust fans. Maybe put them at 4 instead of oscillating.

The best teams rn are Memphis UNC and Stanford

10

u/bakonydraco Stanford Cardinal • Howard Bison 14h ago

NDSU has to be up there.

5

u/TheWesternRizzler Oklahoma Sooners 14h ago

u/NinjaGhost42 Kansas State • Oklahoma State 15h ago

NDSU numbah 1

13

u/bakonydraco Stanford Cardinal • Howard Bison 14h ago

I checked, and you can rank the following teams:

  • All 138 FBS teams
  • Chicago State
  • Fort Lauderdale
  • Lincoln (CA)
  • Merrimack
  • Virginia-Lynchburg

Notably, Lincoln (CA) has been discontinued this year.

8

u/unsubpolitics Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 14h ago

Notably, Lincoln (CA) has been discontinued this year.

So they'll be undefeated?

2

u/bakonydraco Stanford Cardinal • Howard Bison 12h ago

Absolutely!

5

u/Megalomanizac Clemson • Coastal Carolina 12h ago

Seems a little thin, why not the top of the FCS?

2

u/bakonydraco Stanford Cardinal • Howard Bison 12h ago

WDYM, I just said Chicago State was included.

3

u/Megalomanizac Clemson • Coastal Carolina 12h ago

Ah yes, the historic Chicago State football program. They have a long and storied history

2

u/bakonydraco Stanford Cardinal • Howard Bison 9h ago

Many people don't know this, but they've never had a game in which they scored fewer than 28 points.

2

u/Megalomanizac Clemson • Coastal Carolina 9h ago

Literally better than NDSU

9

u/Jyingling21 Appalachian State • Penn State 14h ago

App State #1 as it should be

5

u/Paladine_PSoT Oregon State • Washington State 9h ago

If we can't reddit brigade umass to number 1 then can we even call ourselves sickos?

6

u/bakonydraco Stanford Cardinal • Howard Bison 14h ago

If you click on “What is the fan poll?” there’s a brief description that shares

> You can submit as few as 10 teams, but a complete ballot of 25 gives you the best shot at the top of the leaderboard.

So it seems like maybe you’re trying to predict what the poll will be after the games? Much to discover!

3

u/cooterdick Tennessee • North Carolina 9h ago

Would be useful if they actually included any ounce of information in the post here

5

u/UT49-0U Texas Longhorns • Ohio State Buckeyes 13h ago

3

u/fm22fnam Ohio State • Tennessee 15h ago

4

u/Lord777alt Oklahoma Sooners • Team Chaos 13h ago

What is this window for votes? It should open Saturday evening and end Sunday or if you need more time then Mondayish. What's the point in a ranking before the games

5

u/cooterdick Tennessee • North Carolina 11h ago

This is why I hate corporations, businesses, etc trying to post stuff like this in subreddits. They never return to answer anything and don’t actually provide the necessary context.

When we complain about the poll, we aren’t saying we could do it better. We mostly gripe about shitty ballots and not holding pollsters accountable for their (sometimes egregious) mistakes.
