The 50/50 at last year’s Labour Day game was $1.5million ($1.1mil by halftime).
MB/SK folks love our 50/50s.
I remember going to games in other places - like BC Place & SkyDome and being wildly disappointed at their 50/50s. Pats games have bigger pots, LOL.

50/50s are a different form of gambling because you know half the pot is going to a local cause or organization. I personally don’t gamble other than 50/50s for that reason. I know a lot of people that will donate their winnings back to the organization for smaller 50/50s.

This is true. I am not against 50/50's either or responsible gambling BTW. I put in $40 for that draw since I was at the game. Just pointing out that prairie Provinces are always high and they also tend to gamble a lot. Might be just a coincidence

That was weird for me moving to Sask from BC, where only my bowling alley had one and you couldn’t win money lol. I miss playing keno games at the pubs tho.

If the redblacks had to do tickets scanned I'd be genuinely worried they might not be at even 10k.
That franchise doesn't look like it is going to survive at this rate. There is no way even the new tv money can offset that much in attendance loss.

It's such a shame. 10 years ago a Redblacks game was a hot ticket event that regularly sold out. Ottawa can be a great football city. But it's been so long since they were even competitive that fans are disengaged and the atmosphere sucks. OSEG is running the franchise into the ground.

Agree completely. I had Renegades season tickets ($99 rush seating for the season) and they couldn’t fill the place. I was sure rhe RedBlacks would fold.
But the fan experience for the first several seasons was easily one of the best in the CFL. I’d actually argue it was the best. The whole day had things going on. There was a vibe in the stadium before/during/after the game. The new stands & Landsdowne redevelopment helped… but it was more than just one factor. There was a buzz. And energy.

I doubt there’s a geographical barrier on Ticketmaster, if you want to help the RedBalcks out (I’m 90% sure I bought my tickets while in Sask for the couple Rider games I attended in Ottawa over the years).
It’s sad what poor ownership, & a few bad years can do to a team. I lived in Ottawa & had season tickets to the Renegades ($99 for the season, scramble seating anywhere in the stadium, and they could still barely fill 1/4 of the place). Bring in new owners, a new(ish) facility, add pre/post game activities, add some wins & that joint was THE place to be. First couple years of the RedBlacks were easily one the the best gameday fan experiences in the CFL. Easily.

Actually, when the new TV revenue starts next year, I think every CFL team next will make a profit before even a single ticket and/or merchandise is sold. Going from $300m/6yrs to $500m/6yrs is that big of a jump I do believe it secures each team as they will now have an extra $3.5m-ish in revenue from what they currently get.

It’s a thing. There’s a season ticket or game day only ticket you can buy that’s just for the concourse. Honestly not sure how those factor into ticket sales.

This week was a sellout. It was the game week 9 vs BC we were a couple hundred short. That was a Thursday game.

Won’t be seeing too many crowd shots for Ottawa’s remaining games. That to-date attendance figure is heavily papered.

BC’s slight drop isn’t surprising given that we didn’t have much momentum beginning of season: due to FIFA, we didn’t have our usual concert kickoff which generates lots of buzz (acts have included Snoop Dog, 50 Cent, One Republic, etc) plus early season home games. Not to mention a losing streak probably didn’t help haha.
It’ll be interesting to see whether numbers pick back up or not. I hope with more wins under our belt, we can pick up some steam again in terms of attendance.

Not good for the league. Even Toronto's numbers have to be taken with a grain of salt. They have had 2 home games. One was their home opener being compared to the 6th game of the season last year. The other was a Tiger-cats game which are better attended due to proximity to Hamilton. I would be surprised if Ottawa doesn't fold. This league is cooked.
Attendance in the most populous areas of the country is down.

That Hamilton game was also the CNE game, which is usually the highest attended game of the season just by virtue of people trying to get into the CNE for cheap.
