Modern Warfare - all Cod is stale
After playing the beta last night and today I just feel like I’m too old for cod idk. Not that I’m old physically, I’m 24 but this new generation of COD. Post MW19. It’s too fast paced for me compared to older titles like the OG MW games, Bo1-3. I just don’t find the gameplay appealing anymore. I’ve bought every COD title that comes out every year just to try them but they usually end up getting deleted after 2-3 months just because I know if I hop on I will be getting drop shot by a team of players who are using whatever meta weapon at the time and having their settings adjusted so they can here you go into the crouch position from across the map and track you down. Like every lobby I go into there’s no fun or enjoyment aspect anymore. Everybody just plays like their life is on the line. With that being said, I’m hoping back on BF6 and sticking to my single player story games. This isn’t meant to be a post trashing the game btw. Everybody has different tastes and unfortunately CoD has ruined that taste I used to get back then. I’m sure there’s some people who genuinely enjoy playing the new CoD every year and that’s great but this just ain’t it for me anymore at least and I hope MW4 still does well especially with it being released so close to other many great games coming out this year.

Try being almost 40. I'm playing like I always have while everyone else is sliding around and bunny hopping but I still enjoy it.

Ich bin 42 und bin in bo 7 und bo6 crimson , es kommt echt nicht aufs alter an. Man muss das spiel halt verstehen spawns wissen movement haben usw.

I'm not bad at Call of duty. I got to 7th Prestige in Black Ops 7 and had a positive KD. I just don't play like the kids do.

Facts I still aim at a door or a corner waiting for my man to run round like he would in real life! But no they do sliding bouncing off the walls and before I know it they are over my head and took me hostage dressed as a fuxking unicorn or some shit 🤣🤦

It’s literally the same game since 2019

u/MainsfoDays 2d ago
Nah, even 2019 had passion, now it's just soulless filler to please the shareholders.

facts, i hate to be such a fuckin glazer, but i looked at videos of comparisons, its not even fucking close. mw19 had much better ambience, lighting, was innovative.

Ahh dude I genuinely understand what you say. I've played almost every COD post 2007 (but except IW, vanguard, CW) and I the one I really enjoyed was BO2 because of how simple and balanced also full of variety it was. But it's been a long time since I haven't played any of those old titles and nowdays I'm playing MWII, MWIII and MW19. I've played BO6 for a while but It wasn't what I wanted. Then I played BO7 and god... I immediately deleted that game after 3 days because of how bad that campaign was. But MP wasn't very good imo but I don't hate it. Anyway what I want to say is that I've been playing all these time with best settings (AA, deadzone, Auto tac sprint ect.) and I got used to sweaty style of games but one day, actually it was recent, I was playing MWIII and I tried to change the settings and make the game look and feel as close as possible to older title. I lowered the FOV to 80, turned off tac sprint and other things, and man... You don't know how good it felt. I miss that style of game, really. I hoped I could play BF6 because based what I have seen it's very very good. But sadly because of situations I can't play it :( Sorry for writing a lot, just wanted to join the conversation:)

Switched over the bf6 with my squad and it was good for a bit.. but the BR got kinda stale. Kept running up against sweats who were level 500+ (EVEN in casuals) then they took out strike point. Then we were playing rush and they took it out. Squad deathmatch was also removed.

u/LtRiley2009 3d ago
Hmmm, yeah I get you. It usually happens to games when they are out for a quite a time. Casuals leave and sweats stay, traditional system. I hope they announce something big and bring back competition between COD and BF. Honestly they're right by saying COD is way too big to fail but we can see what they do when someone becomes into a threat, for example GTA 6. look how they retreated from they're decisions on movement, AA, TTK etc.

Idk how ppl are still playing the same game over and over. When warzone came out we were all addicted. But after 6 years I have zero desire to play. Idk how ppl play every day still. It’s stale and boring. U get no dope from the game anymore. Same shit different year. It’s OK to quit lmao.

I think it’s just fps games in general, because I fuck shit up in For Honor where reaction time and skill are genuinely essential to have fun with the game

Releasing a new series every year is never good for a game. I think it's been stale for over a decade. The new gen fast moving camera is absolute vomit, appeals to some, not to me. Peak era was COD4 up to BO2.

I've played CoD since original CoD 2. That's before there was any kind of progression, year 2005-2006. Fun in CoD for me stopped with Advanced Warfare and idiotic movement. MW2019 was good, but this started SBMM era and the game became rigged. I'm playing FPS for more than 20 years, but last few years 90% of the time I'm playing ARPGs like Diablo 4 and Path Of Exile 2. In those games I actually have fun. As you get older you realise that if you're not having fun it's not worth it.

Ye I agreee with this the last two cods I enjoyed was advanced warfare and black ops 3 everything after been shit and so boring. I admit I suck at all extraction shooters but I still play the new ones like tdm and search I perform about the same but just not as fun as older titles.

u/silly_bet_3454 3d ago
I agree that it's stale. I just tried the open beta. I don't even have complaints actually, the movement felt fine, everything felt smooth to me. I just don't feel any kind of a draw to play more, nothing is really new, at best it just feels like MW 2019 to me which is good/fine but again not innovative.

Bo3 is the first fast paced CoD, dude. BF6, BF in general is a joke, dude.

u/Frosty_Mud_5229 3d ago
To you maybe but I enjoy battlefield much more. Eliminates bunny hoping and drop shotting and is more grounded/tactical than COD.

Major problem and reason I stopped playing both game series was because of the absolute atrocities they call maps, and just general class design seems to have regressed in favor of making new skins and releasing the games as fast as possible to collect their checks.
Both series are carried by their predecessors that developed their games like it was their masterpieces, compared to now, the devs are just preparing slop for the piggies. I understand the core gameplay loops are still there more or less, so if you’re a fan of previous releases they still feel playable, but you’re just funding a never ending cycle of slop. They’ll keep releasing low quality content because from a business standpoint, why work harder if you can cash out with minimal effort.
Played the MW4 beta yesterday and it’s the same exact thing. Maps are the classic slop with garbage flow and design. All respawn modes just feel like FFA, where after spawning in you should expect to met with an enemy, if you haven’t been spawned into crossfire.
Loved CoD and BF but these modern games don’t deserve to share the same name. Disrespecting the players and the developers that made the series what they are. Fuck those lazy greedy bitches

I'm 39 🤘 what keeps me playing cod, find a weapon 🔫 to level up or grind for a master camo, try going for zombies easter egg or try wacky weapon loudouts for the fun of it.

Can’t even get the beta to load. I wanted to try it as the jumpy slide jump jumpy BO isn’t enjoyable.

Meh, I’m 44 and still frequently change what I’m into and not into. You’ll be back to COD. Then leave again, then come back. It is what it is, not worth wasting time thinking about.

u/Tenacious_jb 3d ago
Well when they make changes people online complain so much they just change it back lol even in COD WWII

u/BuTheyaby 2d ago
Your issue is with SBMM if you want to get easier lobbies you need a second console/pc to 2 box

u/KungPaoYa 2d ago
You gotta remember, these are scrubs that don’t touch grass. Literally, all they play is COD each year. It’s also riddled with cheaters as well per usual.

Meanwhile I was playing against some 45+ year old sitting on headies and lying in the literal corner of the map and he’s having a blast and still dropping a near 2.0 k/d against my team lol one of the guys on my team was losing his mind dying to that guy all the time 😂

38 and miss when COD at least attempted some semblance of balance and realism. What we have now lacks any soul and the obvious cash grabs as of late have killed this game for me. I miss the old times.

yeah cancelled my MW4 preorder. The beta was meh. It wasn't as revolutionary as MW19. I played since og MW2. MW19, reinstated interest iin me. played MW2, MW3, were mid. Bo6 was str8 cheeks m8. Didnt even cop bo7.
Thought theyd do something for real with MW4.
NAH
got the GTA VI pre order instead. Cant wait to commit some imaginary video game crime. actually hyped release 13 years in the making.

I'm 33 and love playing the new mw4! Its actually a lot slower then the last one, which a lot of people are angry about but I'm digging it, maybe they should add a mode on that's like the one on black ops 7 to be more like the original and remove the slide and what not but for me, I'll mostly be playing the 10v 10 mode or resurgence since I'm really enjoying that map. To many shit talking still but hey it is what it is lmao 😂

u/Opening-Expert-1838 1d ago
That’s not the game, it’s your low sbmm rating. Generally speaking, the bottom 30-40% love it bc it has been catered to them
1
u/Sharp-Day-3164 19h ago
Its bc of the way infinity ward develops their dogshit games. Only good modern warfare game beside the OGs is mw3 2023. The rest are just corner camping, holding iron, bland and dull maps and the general movement and gameplay caters to thumbless noobs. It’s just not fun CoD. Omnimovement was the best thing they did for CoD but Infinity ward doesn’t stick to that blueprint.

Don't worry, you're doing what every true COD fan does on the internet: complain about COD and how the new COD isn't like the old COD.

Fast paced? Mw4 feels like I’m running through molasses 😆
Confirmed I’ll not be buying this years cod.

Bro I’m 36 and still get to Masters in Apex, top of leaderboards in the beta, high level in any shooter, ect...
You are not too old. Anyone who says that doesn’t have the drive to practice and get good. You have to want to be good and put the hours in. I play guitar for 24+ years so I use the same practice logic as I did to be able to shred. Over and over you gotta keep pushing and you will see yourself improve.
I know an esports team had a physical therapist who said that anyone who puts time in and takes care of their body won’t see a loss in skill until mid 50’s and even then its not an insane fall off.
Don’t make excuses, just practice and own it.

Fully agree with this. I am 31 which seems to be unc status around here and I am iri in warzone with a 4.5kd in pubs, and crim in mp with a 2.5kd in pubs almost always top of the leaderboard etc.
I have been playing cod since cod 4 so that helps but I was a complete bot when I started playing warzone in 2020 with a .6 kd but steadily improved especially in the first year or so to where I am now. I did play a lot back then and watched a lot of youtube/twitch but like anything you have to put in the time and effort to be good

I feel the exact opposite with the older cods, people play boring as hell like they are gonna die in real life if they run at me to have a gunfight.
People camping, holding pre aims 24/7 instead of having fun, moving around looking for real gunfights.
Someome posted up on a power position holding a pre aim until someone comes has got to be the most boring way ever to play............... Imagine if everyone in the lobby does that??? 0 kills would be made!!!
That concept alone proves its boring.
