Discussion/Reflection/Vent/Question Covid pandemic and lockdown - documentary recommendations please

My husband had a ruptured brain aneurysm shortly before Covid19 hit. He remembers nothing of the lockdown, quarantine, etc. When I try to tell him about it, he thinks it sounds like the plot some sort of movie. Can I get some factual recommendations to show him what went on and how it affected the world? No conspiracy videos please. He's confused enough. Just the facts. News clips, etc are fine.

Discussion/Reflection/Vent/Question If COVID was a huge deal, why isn't there a large medical push to see what happens to our organic systems after we experienced it, and while we are at it, why was the virus only a risk in small businesses and social gatherings, but not stepping into large corporate businesses?

I had COVID in February and ever since then my interests have subsided and I am overly anxious. Doctors are no help, I scream that I contacted these issues immediately after COVID, and their educational response is 'Anxiety', I am just at a loss and want to see if I am alone in this :(

Tweet [US] Mike Hoerger: "Walgreens renames their dashboard the flu index. Their COVlD advice section does not mention masking, instead recommending droplet dogma & handwashing. Their graphic depicts a worker testing someone while wearing a procedure mask not designed to prevent SARS-CoV-2 transmission."

Better than nothing, but as you'd expect, masking is minimized, without even a mention of the value of effective respirators vs face doilies.

Discussion/Reflection/Vent/Question What do we really know or expect to see happen beyond Long Covid?

With things being a bit quieter this year its given me time to think about the future and it got me wondering about what we can expect to see down the line. Even though cases have been lower this year and we all hope for things like better vaccines I wonder what unknowns are still possible ? I'm not trying to being a pessimist but I want to discuss what we may see in the future beyond just long covid as many have argued that the real long term damage of covid is still unknown.

Long covid is such an broad term for side effects caused to the body by covid inflammation but it is affecting people in different ways. Some are completed disabled by it while others people seem to be able to recover over a period of months to years. Many cite that vaccines have given people some degree of immunity but we also know damage can be cumulative and covid causes immune system dysregulation and organ and brain damage. The body and mind are very adaptable but I'm just wondering what we can expect beyond just post infection related ailments like long covid and things like excess deaths and heart attack increasing. Even if people are able to recover from post infection issues there is difference between being back at 100% vs being good enough that their symptoms are manageable. Within that window or fraction of permanent damage to the body there is still so much unknown as to what issues may arise from this damage.

If being infected is short term and long covid is medium term then I want to want discuss what happens in the long term.

What I want to talk about today is the likelihood of things like:

- Could covid have longer term damage show up late like how shingles is caused by the same virus as chickenpox or hpv can cause cancer. The virus stays dormant in your system for years and reactivates years later. They are finding that covid stays in your body months after infection. Could covid do the same thing years after the fact?

- Likelihood of covid becoming something like aids. I know the term airborne aids has been used as both a good and bad metaphor in ways over the years but if people are continually re-exposed and damaging their immune system with multiple infections over a period of years what happens? Aids began spreading more widely in the mid 70s but the damage didn't really appear for 8-15 years after infection which is when the aids crisis really took off. I remember the youtuber Lola Germs had a great video about this citing a study that they are seeing the same biomarkers in people who have had covid as they did with people early in the aids crisis. Will we see something similar in covid to the way that HIV eventually lead to aids? Even if it doesn't behave the same way as aids what issues might we see?

- Brain damage and neurological issues. We know things in the short term like brain fog, forgetfulness, and lack of focus caused by some degree of brain damage but what happens when this inflammation continues in the brain for years? The brain has the ability to change, reorganize, and form new neural connections throughout life but can it keep up with multiple infections on top of normal aging issues? What issues might we see?

-At what point will we see the real long term effects of the covid in the body? If it takes years for long term damage to shop up how soon might we begin to see this damage in the population?

-At what point does something stop being long covid and start being something else?

I know these questions are very broad and flawed but I feel like they are still good questions to ask given how little we actually know about the long term damage.

All opinions are welcome and any studies or resources would be appreciated.
