middle class scholarship
hi guys! i received an email that i was eligible for a middle class scholarship but i already received my regular financial aid refund. what does this mean?

I also received that email ! They stated it should be disbursed October .

Check the calgrant website, it tells you exactly how much you’re getting.

thank you! i just seen the middle class scholarship and it has a different amount for each semester. it’s my first time receiving that🥲

It’s not the same for every student, it can range! It can be a low as $90 (I’ve never seen that low but it can happen) up to $5k. They determine your amount based on your school, household size, income/assets, and what aid you have already been given.

mine says $2098 for the fall as well as spring. so total of $4196. is that how much i would get??

Yes, it totally could be! You probably won’t know for certain until closer to October.

It’s separate from the refund so odds are decent it’ll be close to the estimate! But it’s good to leave space for it being less so you’re not disappointed. But it’s comin soon!!

It's an additional grant that some students are eligible for. I've been getting one every semester. In Fall it disburses around November and in Spring it dispurses around March. But the amount you get changes depending on your income, assets, and how much aid you received before. My scholarship decreased when my SAI appeal went through and I got a full Pell grant

You get it in the beginning of Nov. It is a grant you do not pay back. From what it was explained to me, people with a decent amount of money (middle class) felt excluded because they could not afford school as easily as rich people , yet did not qualify for aid the way most poor people do. I guess they gave a grant to people making up to a certain amount but it includes people make less than. I have no idea if that is all accurate but seems to make sense.
