AWB - Certificate processing Timeline?

Hello,

I hate to ask this. A friend of mine has been waiting for several certificates of Possession of Assault Weapons from DESPP since April 27th 2024. This was before the registration deadline.

Yes we know, all gun laws are an infringement but this individual has other contributing factors and so they wanted to avoid risking any criminal offenses.

What are there options? Are certificates still being processed? Are there other people stuck in this limbo? Should they write DESPP and/or contact an attorney? Or should they just wait?

No one really knows. That being said it's likely not going to matter come next summer when the supreme court is expected overturn AWB bans nationwide.

At this point, this AWB certificate won’t even matter come next year. But to answer your question, since he applied for the awb certificate, he can do whatever he wants with them. As long as he received the confirmation emails, that acts as our temporary awb certificate, as it’s your proof of submission. Has to be mindful of the NFA too if he wants to sbr or anything.

To answer the question yes still being processed. Many people have still not received them.
