The humidity is already claiming victims in my pantry

I swear its not even peak wet season yet and im already losing the battle. You leave a box of crackers in the cupboard for two days here and it turns into a damp sponge

Got so sick of the bugs and the damp that I just gave up on normal supermarket packaging entirely. Ended up getting a bulk carton of wf plastic containers delivered just so my flour and rice stop turning into solid cement blocks overnight

is anyone else already running the aircon on dry mode 24/7 or am I just being weak this year? ergon is going to absolutely ruin my bank account this summer ngl

Does anyone know when Dry Season starts? I'm getting mixed information.

Which one of you forgot to tell the weather about dry season this year? Can you do the same with cyclone season at least?

Looking for gaming/geek community

As the title says, I’m looking for a community/group/people to play D&D/boardgames/gaming/show binge/hangout

Im not socially awkward, very chatty and I go off on deep topics. I want to people to hangout on a friendship without the “party build up” kind of thing.

Any recommendations/invitations?

Struggling to find a place to rent. Does anyone have a recommendations on where to look as me and my partner only have 2 weeks to find somewhere near the esplanade (no car)?

Budget between $400-$750 per week. We don’t have a car and need to be close to the esplanade. Tried LJ Hooker, Hillebrand and Facebook to no avail. Cairns One seems to be the only place that has availability but it’s 35 minute walk from the esplanade and Ive been told bits not always safe to walk back at night in that area. It’s a shit in the dark but hoping someone could point us in the right direction. Thanks!

This place any good? This place any good?

With such understated signage, this place could either be really good or can't afford a more interesting sign. So which is it, should I try it?

Recommendation for for things to do in Cairns and tours

We family of 4 (2 kids 16 year and 7 year) are visiting Cairns for ~ 4 days 2 clear days from Sydney in mid Oct for the first time. We have shortlisted 1) Great Barrier Reef and 2) Daintree Rainforest on things to do.

Question 1) Would anyone recommend something else or may another place to visit or an additional thing to do (we have a half 3rd day as well)

Question 2) Which tours (including tour operator recommendation) would you recommend for Great Barrier Reef & Daintree Rainforest; also, would half day tour be enough?

Budget is consideration but I guess wouldn't be visiting again any time soon

AI garbage at the cairns festival, a blight on a spot which used have a cool little video. At least the rest of the festival was good.

Guitarist in Cairns looking for another guitarist to jam with

Keen to find someone to actually jam and write with regularly, not just once. Long term duo if it clicks — recording songs, maybe gigging eventually. What do you play/listen to?

Looking for a rental 🌴

My mum and I are moving from Melbourne to Cairns in mid September and are looking for a place for 3-4 months, somewhere to call home

We're looking for a furnished, 2+ bedroom property, ideally around $600 per week, approx. 25-30mins drive into Cairns CBD.

Can provide references if required. We're clean, respectful tenants and would love to find a place we can settle into.

If you know of anything available or coming up, please send me a message.

Re-spray on ford ranger roof

New to Cairns and need a touch up on my 2018 ford ranger wildtrak roof. Any ideas or tips on who to see and go to? Potentially anyone know a ball park figure? Black rough and in the corners it is back to white and creeping. Thanks team

Why don’t buses let people out the back door

I’ve just started catching the bus around Cairns and it seems the only place the drivers open the back door is at the city terminus stops. Even when there is no one getting on (so no risk of fare evasion) they only open the front door. This is different from Sydney and Melbourne. In Sydney you often hear people yell “back door!” When the driver does not open it.
