Should I buy a proper cooking rock?

Cooked on a rock for the first time last year and I guess I lucked out after learning how dangerous it can be.
Would like to do the same thing again and am looking on American cooking for a proper cooking rock but they’re a bit pricey.
Cheaper options for lava rock on Amazon but not too sure about them.
Or should I just wing it again?
Would love to find my own natural rock but have been struggling, which seems crazy since I’m in New England.
Thoughts?
