Hey guys, any idea how i can get the seat massage and the electic backseat adjustment running without a car?

I'm sure this has been asked too many times already but I need a little help. I have done all kinds of mechanical work on all of my own cars but the electrical side of things has always befuddled me. I have a basic scan tool where I can read and reset codes and do some very basic systems monitoring but I'd like to take it a step further if for only a learning opportunity.

I currently need to write my VIN to a donor Jeep PCM (2005) for testing purposes. I've seen videos where folks do it in seemingly no time with a programming tool (one was an Autel Maxiim and another was a Daigun IV) but I can't make heads or tails of all the options out there. Is there a sub-$500 tool that I can get to do this and learn some other stuff while I'm at it? Thanks in advance for any helpful replies!

Previously I have posted a question but due to the circuit diagram in the post, it deviated from the original question. If you haven't seen the previous post, it's fine. I'll explain everything clearly below.

I'm working on a project where I need to control a diesel injector. This is an academic project, if it goes well it shall get into industry level, so looking for a standard Good approach.

The diesel injector is activated by an Arduino(this is the initial setup, and will soon switch over to stm32). The diesel injector is outside the engine in a separate setup which gets supplied by a constant pressure fuel pump driven by an ac motor(const speed). I'm using a MOSFET to control the injector. The MOSFET I'm using is IRLZ44N. The drain of the MOSFET is connected to negative terminal of the injector and source of the MOSFET is connected to the negative terminal of the injector's power supply (i have added flyback diode for safety circuit for injector). The Arduino controls the injector via the gate pin of the MOSFET. The power supply for injector is 12v SMPS.

The Arduino gets signal from the injector's supply and control wires, we tapped these 2 wires and gave them to an optocoupler pc817. This optocoupler's output is given to the digital pin of Arduino. Arduino mirrors this signal to the gate pin of the MOSFET. You might wonder why I'm using Arduino, if the setup goes well, I will alter the pulse in future. So that's why I'm using it.

Issues faced:

1) this setup worked as intended, but after sometime, that is, after 2-3 weeks of testing this setup, the injector has gone. We didn't notice any smoke or smell, but the injector stopped actuating. We lost 2 injectors in this journey.

2) we started the engine and maintained in idling for 60seconds and started our injector setup, we collected around 90ml of fuel at idling, which feels abnormal.

Now, I need a reliable approach for this project. It would be really helpful if someone can come up with some idea for this.

Qashqai J12 1.3 DIG-T (2021+) — Injector +12V missing, need correct wiring diagram

Car: Qashqai J12, 1.3 DIG-T, 04/2021, IPDM 284B7-6RA0B (HS)

Problem: Cranks, all sync OK, rail pressure 214 bar, but injectors have 0V pin-to-pin during crank (ground present, no +12V supply). Fuel Injection Amount = 0 g.

Ruled out: SRS clean (no crash event), no immobilizer codes, ECM has no injector circuit faults, fuel pump runs fine.

Need: Actual J12 1.3 DIG-T IPDM / engine room fuse box wiring diagram showing which output pin/circuit supplies +12V to the injectors. The IPDM has ACTUATOR1–5 but labels don't specify which is injectors.

I could not find anything on my particular gen Mazda, all the love is on the newer ones.

Skyactiv and RX-8 databases don't transfer (RX-8 has RPM on 0x201; mine has the accelerator pedal there).

Bytes 0 and 1 of the 8-byte frame, read together as one 16-bit value.

A few so far:

0x201 b0-1; engine RPM, 0.25 rpm/count

0x39E : door lock status

0x082 : brake pressure, two channels, different gain

0x420 b0 : coolant temp, -40 offset

0x290/0x291 : head unit display text as raw ASCII, 7 chars + 5 chars even though the display on mine only does 7 total, I think there are models that can display more maybe?

0x080 b0-1 is steering angle (super cool!)

Body/BCM and cluster are on the 500k bus with powertrain, not a separate MS-CAN like most cars this era.

The headlight stalk position aren't on CAN at all. Turn signal status is however.

Haven't logged a drive yet, so speed, wheel speeds and gears are still open.

So I've been working on trying to intergrate with a GR branded race recorder which is a JDM optional accessory that seems to be intended to work with Track days and such.

I posted about this a while back but maybe a video of it working a bit would bring more intrest.

I've included CAN, GPS, and these VDV files installers for the applications, and AI translated manuals because I'm not fluent in moon runes.

Recently just found out I can flash the firmware on my car to have car play enabled. I was able to enable engineering mode via ENET cable. Running into the issue of finding a key for DTS 8.16.

Hoping someone here can help with that or guide me through what I need to do next.

Currently I've started looking into a project involving a reprogramming / tuning of the Vehicle Dynamics Control model to be better optimized for Track / off-highway driving use. My current plan as of right now is just to source a spare vdc computer to dump firmware and use as a testbench as well as tapping the drivetrain side can lines. The idea would be to either modify or tune the current parameters for the esp system or implement a custom esp control algorithm depending on the difficulty.

To add, I come from a vehicle dynamics and controls background but am new to embedded systems reverse engineering. But if anybody would be able to comment on the feasibility of this project in addition to some of the resources that would help me it would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve been working on a project that turns a my Vita into a wired Android Auto head unit.

Currently working:

• Plug Vita into hub with Android Phone + a power source (I have not been able to get the Vita to act as a true host but when there is external power supplied it works)
• Android Auto authentication handled natively on the Vita
• 720p scaled down to 960×544
• Touchscreen works fully
  • D-pad, analogue sticks and physical media controls
  • Bumpers skip songs
  • Triangle for play pause
  • Square of Google assistant

It’s still very hacky I only got stable video with inputs today. I need to improve the USB Kernel as its very buggy and needs hard resets if connection drops or if you exit app and many many more issues.

The idea came from seeing people put carplay headunits into PSP shells don't own a psp so said I'll give it a go on the vita and so far good results. But for a POC pretty cool I think!

I am unable to make changes to the customise features table for my 2002 Toyota Alphard. When I open a feature the table is blank.

I have done everything I can think of:

• I have tried 5+ different versions of Techstream ranging from the lowest version I could find to the latest
• Tried different options when connecting
• Changed location but kept it Japan for most troubleshooting. I did mess around with dealership or repair shop
• Tried different drivers
• Tried VirtualBox with Techstream on there. Had issue with picking my vehicle model because the location didn't have it.
• Extracted the software used in the VirtualBox onto my local desktop and tried it there

Nothing I do works and I'm almost given up. The vehicle is ON with engine OFF. I have done a Windows reset to ensure everything is done on a clean setup.

I have looked everywhere, and i just cant find any diagrams for my car, its a Peugeot 206 1.9 XRD diesel 2001. Any help on where to search, i have downloaded some peugeot licensed apps made for mechanics, and couldn't find this car. Does anyone know where else to look, or does someone have wiring diagrams for my car and is generous enough to share them with me. Thanks in advance.

The KiCAD projects, firmware and server software for it are all completely open, free and on github. Enclosures for it will be very soon as well.

It has two main principles of design: extreme power efficiency and it will always be possible to self-assemble at home with relatively inexpensive tooling. Currently tested prototypes have a sleep current of 120 µA with the accelerometer armed.

Features also include ignition sensing, car battery voltage monitoring, an advanced 6-axis automotive grade IMU accelerometer enabling engine-off impact and movement detection, hardware overvoltage protection for the MCU (not yet tested), firmware-switchable auxillary power rails with fault detection for ultra low power consumption, LTE-M and NB-IoT via the Connect Kit for cross-network cell coverage and support for both CAN-FD and ISO-9141 OBD interfaces.

It's still fairly young and unproven, I discovered a fairly bad problem in recent board versions but I'm hoping it will eventually be the go-to open source vehicle tracker for nerds, enthusiasts and hackers. I have been using one in my car for several weeks without any problems but obviously that is no guarantee of anything and anyone considering doing this should very much do their own research first (please read the full disclaimer on the website!).

If anyone has any thoughts, feedback or ideas about any aspect of the project the input would be very much appreciated. I have several videos on youtube ranging from an introduction to it and why I'm building it, all the way up to a full 3h 20m board assembly and bench test demo.

I'm looking for the pinout of the cluster connector, ideally all pins or at least the important ones for power, ground, ignition and CAN bus.

I'm also looking for the CAN IDs needed to make the cluster work.

If anyone has a wiring diagram, pinout or CAN information for this exact cluster, I would really appreciate it.

Hey all, I’m looking to design and produce a custom double din radio for my 2018 wrx. My current plan includes four analog gauges running off of a microcontroller, as well as a single din kenwood stereo- both mounted in a custom 3d printed replacement frame. My current dilemma is that I’m not entirely sure how to access parameters like boost, afr, etc without going through the obd2 port. I do own a tactrix which has always been reliable, but I’d rather not have something permanently occupying the obd. I’ve looked online, and there seems to be a lot of different answers about how / if it’s even possible or worth it to access the CAN, and I’m more just wondering if it’s something I should consider, or if it’s just gonna save me a lot of headache to route the cable under the dash from the obd2. Previously, I installed an idoing android head unit which required a special canbus adapter specific to my model with a harman kardon sound system. If anyone has any advice or tips, let me know!

I've been a jeep guy for a long time, and I just got a new 26 Tacoma. I used JScan for the Jeep which was. It let me customize all the dealer settings like windows down if you hold the unlock on the fob, and high beams with fog lights etc etc....

I've only seen recommendations for carista here, but I hate they want a monthly/yearly subscription for it. JScan let you buy your own Bluetooth OBD dongle, then buy the license for your vin. $25 for the OBD dongle and $25 for your license, and your good for life.

Screw the subscription greed....

I am somewhat new to this stuff, as in I have been reading online and researching for many years but just now actually starting to do stuff.

I see that everyone used to use the Tactrix Openport 2.0 but that it's no longer available and that everyone is still waiting on the 3.0.

So in the meantime what is everyone using? What should I get?

I have a 2015 Honda Accord Sport for reference.
