Question No help training
Hello all ! Started a new job yesterday . Today was my second day and idk anything about the place . My first day I set a table with nothing to do and today I logged into some stuff and set at a desk all day . Is this normal. Is training prohibited in car sales ? Or should I go to a new dealership.

Pretty normal for your first few days, you’ve got nothing to contribute yet, watch, listen, learn. Take notes, take initiative, hit as many heads as you can, take details, if you get stuck introduce a manger or another colleague, if you don’t know something go out of your way to find out. Customers will be pretty forgiving if they can see you’re trying. Best of luck

Adding: take initiative: Make allies with the people who are successful. Ask if you can shadow them. Actively tell customers that you are new, tell them you’re going to “learn together”. Watch youtube reviews about your models. I like a channel called Hello Road. They have great features and benefits walk arounds, then put the vehicle to the test in daily use. Ask a manager if you can have an abandoned lead list and start dialing. If you have a local network start calling them and asking that they think of you when they or a friend are looking for cars. There’s more, but that’s a start.

Most car sales jobs are like this from what I know. What I did and have been doing is making a lot of friends and constantly asking for work. If you take initiative and ask your manager for work to do it will be seen as a green flag for you

Haha. I was doing this today. Got two leads . Got a appointment Friday and after I emailed the second person who already had a approval for 50k they took it away and gave it to another salesman who been there

What are the rules at your store? There is usually a made contact rule so if you’ve made contact within 72 hrs or set the appt you’re automatically on half.

I am also new in a honda dealership and two of my sales were given to different salesman and i did not get any split commission from that either. These moments will be frustrating vent it all out to your close people, dont hold the grudge. And also learn about the cars you have in your showroom properly. Try to atleast have the basic knowledge for all the models u have.
And most importantly be genuinely humble and gentle with your customers, and everyone. Even if the customer us not buying the car from you, the best you can do is give them the best service you can, and that instantly puts you away from all the other salesman. And customers understand if a person is being genuine or salesy.
This behavior will take you to places you wont imagine. And take it slow, first few months money might be a bit tight, but slowly things will start rolling for you.
Keep your head up, if u feel low vent it out, be humble, be gentle, kind and compassionate and most importantly make your heart an understanding heart which understands the customer's needs and concerns.

You should not be getting deals stolen from you. That’s your fucking food man. You have to fight for it, and don’t be shy. Be confident and assertive. If you sold the car, it’s your deal. Otherwise they will see you as weak, and then exploit that. I’d even contact the labor board and see what they think about it.

I am also new to the car game and start the 1st I’m not new to sales or social media, I’ve created a TikTok. Facebook and Instagram and have posted cars already nd haven’t started yet I want a pipeline going. How else do you guys go bout getting appointments what are some way you guys get your leads?

I got fired for applying at another dealership so in my few days I was there . They have a website we used and all the leads came there . When someone look at a car online or do a credit app they automatically send it to u. In my two days I had about 5 appointments set .

My whole fear of this automotive is that it’s a desert out there and make your own appointments or you drowned is basically the way I see it. Am I wrong? Will the dealership be able to provide me with enough to keep me afloat not rich but afloat

Yes between the given leads and walk ins you should be fine . Social media is just extra imo . But be prepared to work 250+ hours a month

So I have a goal and determined to get there I’m not in it for car sales, I’ve sold lol my life I want to be a sales manager or F&I manager so I’ll work my way there
