The City of Bunbury provides two designated public locations where visitors can stay overnight in a caravan or RV for FREE.

The areas are patrolled by City of Bunbury Rangers & the following conditions apply:

• Fully Self-Contained Vehicles Only: Your caravan or RV must have built-in, plumbed-in holding tanks for greywater, as well as an internal toilet and sink. External buckets, tent setups, or sleeping inside regular cars are strictly prohibited.
• Free Online Permit Required: You must obtain a free permit online via the Visit Bunbury Geographe website {NOTE: Read rules & conditions BEFORE booking) or in person at the Bunbury Visitor Information Centre (located at the Bunbury Museum) prior to staying. City Rangers actively patrol these sites.
• Stay Limits: Maximum stay is 48 hours. Once used, you cannot obtain another permit for either site within a 28-day window.
• Site Restrictions: No generators, open fires, clotheslines, or external annexes are allowed.

There are two sites available on Ocean Drive:

WYALUP ROCKY POINT:
If you choose to camp at Wyalup-Rocky Point, please park in the roadside bays only. A maximum of four vehicles are permitted to stay here at any one time.

OCEAN DRIVE (BASKETBALL COURTS)
If you choose to camp at Ocean Drive (basketball courts), please park in the designated area only. Ensure you leave room for other vehicles to park and try to take up as little room as possible. Our residents like to park here during the day too when enjoying the beach. A maximum of seven overnight users are permitted here.

My girlfriend and I are planning a road trip from Brisbane to Adelaide over 15 days. We are planning to do a coast-to-coast route, but we aren't particularly thrilled about it because we'd love to head a bit inland. However, due to our rental terms, we can't travel further than 500 km from the coast. For now, this is our plan:
Brisbane -> Byron Bay -> Minyon Falls -> Coffs Harbour -> Port Macquarie -> Port Stephens -> Jervis Bay -> Narooma -> Eden -> Phillip Island -> Melbourne -> Great Ocean Road -> Mungo -> Red Cliffs -> Adelaide. We wanted to know if all these stops are truly worth it or if we are missing out on something more interesting and unique, especially since this will likely be our only road trip here in Australia.

But wanting to see what advice / tips / suggestions anybody might have for my 20 yr old little brother who is about to commence drive around half of the country in a Suzuki swift with another friend.

Currently they have hammocks packed and are planning on sleeping in those most nights….. They’re on a budget and have no plan whatsoever. Just accumulating equipment this week…….

Howdy people. We are on the market for a caravan. Something 19-22ft, off road, needs 2-3 bunks, good lounge and usual facilities like bathroom toilet shower, outdoor kitchen would be nice aswel.

Hi, I'm wondering how much play my fiamma hand railings should have on my RV. They wiggle a fair bit (about 5mm in either direction) when you grab them. Is this normal? They've been on the RV for about 5 years but I've only noticed this recently.

I'm taking the offroad van up into the mountains in October to catch the start of Trout season. Was thinking of staying a few nights each at Gungarlin River campground, Behrs Crossing camp, and Long Plains Hut Campground. Was just wondering who has stayed at any of these spots and what they thought? Also, if anyone can recommend any other spots worth having a look at?

Im new to the caravanning life so please excuse my ignorance on this subject haha

Im looking for some advice on reversing cameras. These cheap magnetic wireless ones seem very convenient but im a little concerned about latency/lag, if people have some stuff to say about that.

After cursory research, kits that come with a dedicated display seem to do better in the lag department but i can't find a kit with a camera that has a built in battery/solar, id prefer to avoid any permanent electrical work on the back of the van and i dont particularly need the camera on all the time, only for reversing.

Any and all advice is very much welcome 🙏

Lag: Lag is minimal if any at all, especially at close range. There is a tiny bit of lag at about 10m but genuinely not enough to concern me anymore.

Range: the wifi range is pretty impressive. In a straight line, with no obstructions, I gave up a range test at around 200 meters. However, i set up a camera about 15 meters away, with 4 brick walls obstructing (house walls with electricity) and there was intermittent signal drop buuuuut was still usable.

Battery: ok so ive had one of the cameras running continuously for 8 hours during day time so far, its still reading full battery. I didn't think that little solar panel could do much, if anything but I guess the internals of this device aren't using much, if anything so maybe the panels are doing something.. haha

Infrared: night mode is pretty good, kind of what you'd expect. Not military hardware but wow, yeah its a night vision camera!

Mounting: The magnet is insanely strong, to the point that when attaching it to something, I want to be careful not to let this sensitive electronic slam itself onto the surface violently.

Its worth mentioning that unsecured woreless cameras like this are supposedly very easily hacked (just dont ever have it pointing inside your living space). The user interface is a bit lacking. Classic cheap electronic, has weird features you'll never use and seems to be missing obviously useful ones it should have but still gets the job done somehow. All the features seem to work as advertised though. Longevity/quality over time is obviously yet to be tested.

Conclusion: For the price point, im quite happy with my purchase. Makes me wonder why I would spend more money on a reversing camera, this is the shit.

I think I’ve got a Chinese diesel heater. Anyways I came out one day and the diesel heater fan (not the heat) was running. No-one had turned it on and the van hadn’t been used in months.

So I can’t turn it off on the panel or with the remote. Only way is to pull breaker out. After reinserting the breaker it just starts again. Holding down the power does nothing

Question:

- anyone had this before,
- if it’s the controller - how do I tell which one I need to order?

Has anyone got a DIY hack for doing this at home?

While our van is only a few years old and kept undercover, I would like to give do a check at least annually as part of our maintenance routine.

I did see a video using a leaf blower on through the toilet cassette area. Just seeing if anyone has done this and any tips.

We do have an air compressor (dual tank commercial one) but worry that the pressure would be too high.

Planning our first big caravan trip with the kids for school holidays next year. We're looking for the best park to stay at in Coffs Harbour. We really don't want to feel like we're staying at a generic park; we want a place that has something different. Any recommendations?

In the market for a caravan and wondering if there’s a “how to” on caravanning? From leveling, unhitching and anything that probably gets overlooked when people think of buying a caravan for the first time.

For what it’s worth, it’d probably be a 19-21foot as needing a triple bunk

What would your advice be to a first time caravan buyer?

We just got a $345 fine for parking overnight in our van at peregian beach. No area is safe. Peregian is part of Noosa and council rangers are patrolling all areas, parking lots, side streets and beach areas late at night. Woke us up and issued a $345 fine!!
